Recent games tab after getting indexed question

Hello.

I've got a question regarding getting indexed after keeping the game as a draft for a few months. I made it public a few days ago and created a Major Update/Release post after reading the FAQ doing everything on the list of things that is required for indexing. My question is, will the game appear on top of the most recent tab for the tags I've used after it is indexed? It is important to me and after working on it for a year and a half every little bit of exposure helps.

Thanks in advance!

Actually, a devlog post is not required for indexing. It's only needed if you published your game a while ago, and you want a chance to show up at the top of most recent again. Otherwise, it will appear in Most Recent according to the date when you made it public.

So my game game isn't going to the top of new releases when it gets indexed? If so is there a way to do that? Like I said all the exposure helps even if it's a little.

Yes, as you've read in the FAQ, after a while you can try to make a devlog post. If itch.io staff approves it, your game will be placed back at the top of Most Recent. But giving your game exposure is up to you. Indexing is a convenience to players, not a marketing tool.

Okay thanks. Is there anything else I can do to expedite the process of Indexing at the moment? It has been 3 days since I published it.

Yes, as explained in the same FAQ, you can promote the game yourself. That's the main way to speed things up. Being active in the community helps for example. But three days is a very short time, doubly so with a weekend in the middle.

Got it. Thanks again for your time.
