Zip contains file that is too large

Hello! I see the max file size for Unity WebGL publish is 1GB. I have a WebGL project at 375mb (512 memory setting) that works on my desktop browser, but I get this error message when trying to run on itch.io. "Zip contains file that is too large" Does anyone have similar issues and is there a solution? Thanks for your help!

Hi there. Took me a moment to notice what the message really says: while your archive is small enough overall, one of the files in it runs into a different safety limit. Can't remember off-hand what it is for individual files though, but check your game for an unusually large file, probably an asset.

You can also contact support and ask for the limit to be increased. A lot of players will have trouble running your game though. Best to optimize it if you can.

The reason why we have these default limits is because many engines make it easier for developers to export a game for HTML without understanding what kind of experience is created for the person playing the game will be in the browser.

If you have a game with huge files then we strongly recommend you make it downloadable. The people playing your game will have a much better experience and will not risk having issues loading or playing the game.
