Planisphere - Demo

Hi! I'm currently making a visual novel titled 'Planisphere' that I hope to release sometime in late June or early July. There's currently a demo out for it right now at this link: https://skeletonmob.itch.io/planisphere

Most of the info about the game and story is on that page, so I won't repeat myself there. I've been working on the project for over two years, and have only begun the final stages of production. I'm currently done outlining all the backgrounds, and I'm about 70% done with the writing. All that's left is to color the backgrounds, find music and sound effects, and program everything. It sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't. I think the main thing with this game is that getting all the pieces together took the longest time, actually putting them together won't.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could try out the demo and leave a comment, either here or there, telling me what you think! The thing I'm worried about the most is whether the game actually functions. I know it works fine on my computer, I just don't know if it'll work on somebody else's. So please tell me if you find any bugs! I'll try and fix them as fast as possible!

I'll update this thread and the game page with updates as frequently as possible. Usually on Fridays and Mondays.

Here's some screenshots:

Hey everyone! Everything's been going smoothly so far, I'll post again if any major schedule interferrences come up. Writing has slowed down a bit now that I'm at the home stretch, so right now I'm focused on coloring backgrounds. Here's a sample of what I've done so far.

Forgot to post yesterday, but here are more backgrounds I finished so far. I'm planning on finishing writing this week and finish coloring backgrounds the next week. I'll have an updated scheulde on Friday, but right now, I'd estimate I'm about 60% done with the entire project.

looks cool ima try it out if that's ok with you

That's great, but you don't need to ask for my permission to play it!

Thanks I'm just pretending to be polite cuz I'm a newbie to the community haha!

i don't even make games i'm just here to play them and make friends

Well, i'd say you're off to a good start so far!

Why thank you :)

Final development schedule for the game. Reminder that the demo can be found here: https://skeletonmob.itch.io/planisphere

Sorry I didn't post this earlier, but here's the final development schedule for the game. I've been teetering on the edge of burnout for the past couple of days, and desperately needed to take time off. So I made a new schedule to compensate for that.

Some samples of what the game will actually look like. It's mostly button based instead of point and click, since implementing that would mean exponentially more work for me.
Link to the demo is here: https://skeletonmob.itch.io/planisphere

Lots of personal stuff happened this week, so not much progress was made. But the demo is still working!

Hey, I'm going through some family issues right now, and I don't know how it's going to affect Planisphere. It'll most likely be delayed, by how much, I don't know. I'll keep working on it as much as I can, and update you guys if anything major crops up.

My personal issues have been resolved for the most part, and now I'm back in the game development game! I've worked on a few puzzle related things and I'm also coloring backgrounds. I'm completely done with writing. The game will most likely be delayed for some time in August, but I'll make a new schedule once I know for sure.

After thinking about it for a while, I'm not going to include any music in the game. Sound effects, definitely, but no music. I can't compose, and searching for music takes forever, and only a handful of tracks actually fit the tone of the game. If I tried to find the perfect music, I'd have to delay the game even further, and I don't want to do that when I'm this late in development. I may update the game after it's released, but that's probably going to be months down the line. My plans for the moment are to release the game (August), release a companion game that has all the development commentary in it (before the end of 2019/early2020), then update the original game (sometime in 2020).
