Hi there,

we’re looking to hire a writer to write the entire story for our game. It’s an action rpg, but we’re just looking for the main story. No game design experience necessary.   no side quests. no choices. Just the main storyline.

We have a cast and a general outline. We’re looking for you to flesh it out in a cohesive tale that captives audiences.

Payment will be done in milestones. Details to be discussed with the chosen writer. $5,000 budget to start. If things go well and need to continue we’ll up the budget.

Please send only your best sample. Most likely won’t read multiple samples. Recommend strong openings.

This is a pretty big project. So we’re really looking for ppl committed to sticking around for awhile and see it to the end. We’re looking for a novel. Estimating 100,000 word story for some sort of frame of reference. Exact word count doesn’t matter.

Must be organized. Able to dedicate a significant amount of time. Open to criticisms. Comfortable with regular updates. Independent. Follow direction well.  Must be able to write blocking, describe environments, feelings, emotion, scenes, actions, and dialog.  Most importantly we’re looking for creativity. No ai, nothing too generic, it needs heart. Beginner friendly.

Please include a way to contact you and to check out your work. Discord preferred.

Thank you

bump

do you have any additional details about the game? if you have a rough outline, you must have an idea of the genre, tone, general sales pitch for the game, that sort of thing?

If this is still open or has expanded to other projects, I have samples from short to long projects (multi-book series at 400k+ words), and I currently do developmental editing and editing for psychological realism and deeper character arcs. I can avoid trope, harmful bias etc...  provide unexpected but still logical developments, arcs, and motivations. I seed early story without foreshadowing or direct "tell" hints, building "show" from "tell," to give careful readers/players something to analyze later. I love how the FNAF community and MGS has deep dives and deep lore to look at.

Some of my own work in non-fiction and fiction, character-driven scifi  (think Becky Chambers Wayfarer series with more "showing" of emotion, history and subtle knowledge. I thoroughly enjoyed Small Angry Planet that I read last week) are my favorite projects. I also have stories in romantasy, urban fantasy, cyberpunk (my background started in engineering and computers) with the main science fiction series going for query for traditional publishing once I get it back from the technical editor (grammar, finer points of quotations and oxford commas).

I write WITHOUT AI in any creative capacity. I find AI output very poor and often disturbing, even on simple prompts in experiments. In fact, I hadn't realized AI was so publicly available outside of computer science labs before I had written over 1.9million words on other projects from 2019-2024. If someone has an AI derived outline from their braindump, I have been called in to write from that and more into an actual story with care. I can provide an example of the before and after for those.

I am new to the world of game content writing specifically, hence this new account, but I used to run a gaming website with reviews, industry contact at Sony and Nintendo (an actual domain which competed with IGN for a time, not a group or subdomain on a platform) to pay for college before moving on post-graduation.
