Some kind of wishlist option?

Hi all, I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I do think it would be helpful to add some kind of a Wishlist / buy later list on Itch. Something we could add to games in development that are not released yet in order to build up a following before launch. That way developers could have a call to action when marketing their games before release.

I know the creator pages has a follow option, but something like that for games, especially non released games could be helpful.

You realize you can have more than one collection and can give a name to a collection, like, for instance, "Wishlist"?

But since Itch does not do advertising, you will not get release and sales promotion. Hmm. I think you can get promotions if you configure it somehow. But I am not sure if you had to follow the developer for this or not.

Ah, here it is

Email notifications

( ) Games and items I don't own in my collections go on sale

To adapt your suggestion, make a email notification, when a game changes status from in development to released and is on collection. On the other hand, if you really do follow the game, you should follow the developer and will get a notification about the update in your feed anyways.

Plus, there are finished games and in development games, that do not really utilize this status "correctly".

Also, there is a bad habit of some developers, that instead of updating their demo in development page, they make a new released page with the full game. But pricing options are sometimes confusing and this is actually the best method in some situations. You would miss such a release if you only have the game on wishlist, but do not follow the dev.

Ah ok, I thought collections was for multiple games like in a bundle situation, but I guess I shouldn't have assumed that and dug a little deeper. I will try your suggestion. Thanks!

Uhh. Collections are just that. Collections. It is bascially a bookmark folder in your account.

While you can organize with it anyway you like and the system allows, one suggested usage is "Add this game to a collection to save it for later"

You can brag with collections on your profile. Use them as reminders. Sort your favorites. Whatever.

This is why I made this thread: https://itch.io/t/3693485/do-not-update-your-games-by-deleting-them-and-uploadin...

It screws up collections if devs delete their page and remake it, even if the url stays the same. Games will dissappear silently this way. Out of sight, out of mind. The devs doing that are shooting in their own foot. Especially if the collection was named: "buy later"
