Questions about payouts

I wrote to support 2 weeks ago and have not yet received a reply. My ticket number is 214697.

Roughly speaking, I'm a bit surprised that so much money is being deducted from my earnings and I can't really find a breakdown in the FAQ and other areas as to why the charges are so high. Yes 10% goes to itch.io and there are a few fees here and there because of PayPal... and according to the tax information on the external site there should be no additional fees. That's why it's currently difficult for me to understand the rather high amount deducted. It is currently far from what I would roughly expect and calculate.

Hello, This forum is public and normally answered with people from the community, that is, except for the admin, no one else has access to see your account data, what you comment is so vague and without information that it is totally impossible to give you any type of advice, since I don't know exactly what you mean by "much money", you also don't clarify if it is about the estimated balance or if it is a specific question about the report when you request a payment.

When requesting payment, a document is generated with all the details. I have never had problems with improper charges. There are several posts in this same subforum that give details and examples of how Itch charges work.

Without further information, a couple of general notes, which I have seen always raise doubts in people.

The value of your balance is an ESTIMATE and the estimate may be calculated with a 30% retention instead of calculating the correct retention for each purchase, it is best to request payment and so you can review a detail of each sale, along with the associated charges.

The first time you request a payment, you have a charge of 3 dollars to validate the tax interview.

You must take into account additional charges resulting from refunds.
I don't know how Itch shows refunds (I haven't had any so far), but if it follows the same line as Steam, that means that they don't delete the purchase, if not, they add a refund fee.
That is, you sell 3 games, one asks for a refund and in the estimate you see 3 sales, but only the money for 2 games.

Ah. that helps me, of course. That it's only an approximation. I just wanted to be sure that everything is correct and fits and is clear to me before I initiate a payout.

Unfortunately at this time the only way to see the entire breakdown of gross to net earnings for a payout is to open the payout request. When a payout request is submitted the final calculations are done and you will see a table of where the revenue is going.

Generally, most people are surprised by the merchant fees. They can hit especially hard if you are pricing your content very low (since they typically are 30cents + ~2%).
