Windows Defender detects Trojan in the exe-file

Hi.

My Windows Defender kicks on the FPVFreeRider.exe and says it contains a Trojan: Win32/Maltule.C!cl
Any ideas why? I tried to download a fresh install from my download area, but same result.

It happens the same to me, Windows Defender detect a virus and delete the .exe file.

Any solution?

Go into Windows Defender settings and disable Real-time protection. Then re-install the .exe file and go back to defender and add an exclusion for that .exe file. Worked for me on Windows 10.

Same here. I'm sure an exclusion can be made in Windows Defender to allow the Freerider .exe to execute, but is it all right to do so? Why has Windows suddenly decided it's a "Severe Threat"?

same thing happened to me. is it safe to run the .exe file and add it as an exclusion even though windows defender detects a "Severe Threat"?

Hello everyone,

It appears that Windows Defender is marking the file incorrectly, you can see more information on the Unity forums: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/unity-producing-m...

Unity is the game engine used by FPV Freerider. Hopefully Microsoft will have a fix out shortly. In the meantime you can temporarily disable it when running the game.

It was a false positive that was affecting several games built with the Unity engine. Microsoft eventually sorted it out, at least temporarily. Now that I updated the simulator it seems I will have to notify Microsoft again.

In the meantime you can put an exclusion to Freerider in Windows Defender:

All the files have been confirmed as clean by Microsoft. Hopefully there will be no more false alerts.
