What's the process for reporting an unflagged NSFW game page?

I just had a bad experience with a seriously NSFW game page (sexually explicit GIF in this case), and I've checked that being logged in and having an adblocker doesn't make all 18+ clickthroughs disappear. I don't really want to go back to said game page in order to report it, and I'm also pretty sure this isn't the only time this has happened. What's the suggested process here?

In order to report the page you must go to the page and find the report link on the bottom. We don’t have any other mechanism to know what page you’re having an issue with. If it’s really something you are unable to view again then you can try to provide us instructions on how to find the page so our staff can locate it.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I request that the report function be changed to allow linking the page rather than being made from the page, in future.

I do not understand this. What is a clickthrough? What have adblockers to do with this?! There are no ads on itch! Do you use an adblocker to shield you from adult content or what?!

If you select tag adult to browse, you will see adult games. If you do not, you need to log in and have the adult check box activated. Otherwise you will not see things marked as nsfw in search or browse. You cannot even search for creator's names in search, that have any adult projects.

Also, if that setting is deactivated, you still have to say that you are an adult if you visit a page, should you come across a game link by other means.

( ) Show content marked as adult in search & browse

Check this setting in your account's setting.

Also, if you did previously visit  such a link, there is a dialoge

Are you 18 years of age or older?

( )Remember my setting for this browser

That setting will stay. It is a cookie probably.

As of now I will assume that you saw a game that was in fact not marked as nsfw. Because if you told itch you are ok with adult content, you should not complain. Just because you think it is offensive, does not make it so.

It happens. Devs here are mostly amateurs, they might have forgotten. Also, there are scammers uploading malware. Often disguised as adult games. But they usually do mark it as nsfw, precisly because they will get reported for having an unmarked nsfw game otherwise.

So if you want to report it, but do not want to use the report link, just go to your browser history, copy the link and contact support (read: write an email to support) with that link and your findings. If it was not a mistake by the developer, it probably was malware.

A 'clickthrough' is a page or page overlay you have to click a button to get through, such as Archive of Our Own's TOS page. I was indeed referring to itch.io's standard NSFW warning page, which the game in question did not have, presumably because it was not flagged. I suggest that a calmer demeanor when talking to people who use unfamiliar jargon will lead to more pleasant future conversations for you.

I have uBlock, and it was not completely implausible, before I checked, that a NSFW warning overlay did exist and uBlock was blocking it. (I do use adblockers to shield myself from pornographic content, but only as a supplementary measure.)

The administrator who already replied to me implied that your suggested course of action - which I also suggested as a feature request - was not actually supported by the report function as it is currently implemented.

Uhm. Where is that term used in that way for a confirmation dialogue? A clickthrough is the mere fact that you clicked a link that was shown to you. It is the basis of measuring clickthrough rate.

And since itch has no ads, your talk of adblockers was quite strange. (Imagine the exlamation marks as me saying huh? what is going on here. Because that is what they meant)

Since you do not want to use the report button, any feature request for it are beside the point - as those report buttons are only attached to projects and postings. You already were told that you could tell staff directions how to find the unflagged page. How do you think the admin meant you would contact itch to provide said directions?

And what I suggested was to just look at your browser history, and copy the url. No directions needed.

There is a contact button on bottom of page, it leads to another button that opens your email client.

If you do not want to do that either, you could also open your profile and click the feedback button on the left side and select other. There is a css bug that will hide the feedback button if you zoom the page.

Oh, I forgot. That report button and the feedback button will still send you an email, so if you do not want to have itch mails in your mail account, you should be aware of that.

Different circles, I suppose. I have, on reflection, seen that useage too - but as I don't work in advertising, it isn't a common use.

It wasn't clear, but seemed like they might be suggesting this thread for it. I was hoping a standard procedure for reporting a page you aren't actually on could be implemented.

This is not the concept. If you report a thing, you have to know what you are talking about, so you will be at the page where the report button is. Making a new concept will not be done, because there are already two other methods of contacting itch with issues you want to tell them. Contacting support and clicking feedback. Posting in the forum is not such a contact method - this is a way to talk to other users.

From a pragmatic viewpoint, why and where would they even implement such a concept? Put a button next to "contact support"? It is what the admin told. There is need to connect your complaint to the item you complain about. If you have no connection it boils down to writing informally and that is already fully implemented with the contact support button.

Regarding word usage, if you search for clickthrough meaning, you will get that it is an alternate spelling of click-through. And if you search for that you will get this:

click-through
noun
An online advertising performance metric representing an individual responding to an ad by clicking on it.

Note, there is only one meaning in that dictionary. I tried another search engine.

click-through
nounCOMPUTING
the action or facility of following a hypertext link to a particular website, especially a commercial one.

Is this a translation issue? I do not know if there is a catch-it-all term for nag screens. The age confirmation in this case.

I found the forum through the Contact Support page. Just add a button in the Contact Support page for "a NSFW game page is not flagged", context of "provide us the name and/or link", and clarification about when the clickthrough is mandatory (and thus the sort of thing it's appropriate to bother Staff about).

I don't remember when I first saw clickthrough used for a confirmation screen. ("Nag screen" is interestingly new to me.) But I'm reasonably sure I have seen it used for that, in multiple contexts.

Well, I never seen the word, except for ctr.

Your choice of words tickles me again.

There is no "mandatory clickthrough".  The age check is an emergent detail and not the thing this about. You will not get the age verification if you prevously checked it with yes. Or if you have the setting checked to show content marked as adult. The setting will even be ignored, when you select one of the adult tags (like 'adult').

If you want to look at an analogous situation, skim the psa thread about discord scams. You can't report such a page, if you were not the scammed user, since you can't even access the page to click the report button. There will not be any additional contact support buttons, just so people do not have to write the subject of the mail. They still have to write the complaint with details anyways.

To end this with trivia, If there are circles that use the word for the actual confirmation message and not the whole process, I wanna bet, it started as something like clickthrough dialog or even clickthrough pop up.
