Hey!

I'm developing a game with rpg maker mz for the first time, and I'm struggling a little. The main parts that I struggle are, mostly, organization, as a solo dev I need to think about the script, come up with the character design (in addition to the character's story), and programming (as well as promotion), so, I'm not sure were to start. I've learnt the most basic aspect of rpg maker, except from importing designs and a bunch of programming. Do you guys have any advice? or do you recommend a youtube channel that teaches rpg maker mz?

I really want to give my best in this project, but I admit I sometimes get overwhelmed ^^''.

Thank you in advance for your help :]

If you recently learned the basics: Dive in and experiment with the possibilities of the software. Just hack a improvised game together with the stock assets.

Then, if you feel comfortable with the software go over to plan your game. Make something small as your first game. Write a short story, and make a small list with the most important characters and places, create them in your engine and try to build the game using these. If you have the rudimentary things, look if something is missing and add it if needed.

Back when I used it, the RPG Maker had some good included assets - if this is still true, try to rely on them. You save a lot of work, and getting a small game done should be your first priority. If you have more routine and an idea what to do you can start to make more ambitious projects.

What do you want? Do you want to tell a story? Do you want to make a game? If your goal is to make a game, I would probably make a small section of your vision. If your goal is to tell a story, you might want to build the complete story without worrying about the gameplay. For the story focus on the main story not sidequests. After that is done go back and add gameplay/side quests.
