Make Tags non case sensitive

See above.

Just noticed that Tags are case sensitive,  our game appears when you search for "mahjong", but not if you search for "Mahjong". This is neither in the interest of devs nor players.

They are not. Try again and look at   number of games found. Also your game is spelled with two g and you tagged it with two j.

Links to tags translate to complete lowercase, even if they start with capital letter.

I added the Tags

mahjjong and mahjong a few days ago when I noticed that using the variant with 2 g's was probably not the best choice for findability, and I could swear that it didn't showed up in the night when I searched for "Mahjong" but showed up when I searched for "mahjong", now I don't find it with either variant (maybe I clicked on the linked "mahjong" tag and thought this was producing the same result as searching for it - I noticed now that this isn't the case). However: the mahjong tag is there for a few day - shouldn't the game be found when I search for "Mahjong"? Same for "Mahjjong", btw.

what  are you talking bout?

Your game shows up not matter how lower or upper case  one writes your tags. Tags that are not in list from browse feature you have to write in, and not forget a letter.

Your game also shows up ify ou put mahj in search box.

You would not happen to put tags in search box, would you? how that works, I do not know. It finds mostly by title and  maybe some part of game description and maybe other stuff. Ifyou search for  Mahjjong you find a game that does not even have jj anywhere. But it has tag mah-jong, so maybe the - is indexed differently for this search thingy. For some terms, the serach box even brings backtags as an answer. I think only for tags with descritipion.

Also keep in mind that the thing does not search live. It has an index somewhere that does not get updated every second.

But it is poorly advertised that you can write tags in the tag serach box. But i wolud not write masomethingsomething in there. I would write mahj or majong in search box and go from there.

Ofc I search for tags with the search function, what else should they be good for? oo

So, to be found for somebody who searches for "Mahjong" atm, I would have to put "Mahjong" in the description of my game?

there are two search boxes

one is a real search box

the other is a box to add tags

the tags add url modifier in browse, and you combine them. they are not case sensitive. this is not wikipedia.

tags are tags and not search terms. you can tag stuff that is not written anywhere in the desciription, because it is attributes of the game, that you think do apply. like singleplayer,   puzzle, board game. Of course if you tag mostly descriptive stuff, you will most likely write it in description of game too.

if i "search" for   single player board game, i get 60 results

if i combine tags single player and board game i get 421 results

your game name is literally mahjosomething. you can be found with mahj in search box. but search results are limited to 60 it seems. there is probably some randomness involved when the search stopps.

and yes, i did find you with mahj but not with mahjong in the 60 results.

Well, thanks for your efforts - imho tags should be included when I search, its the behaviour that would be expected by any sane user.

hmm. it could be better.

if you search for "official" tags, for lack of a better word, those come as a result as well.

but you cannot search for custom tags there. you have to put it in the tag-search box.

mahjong is not an "official" tag. try with chess to see the difference.

so maybe idea would be to make custom tags searchable in search box, should there not be a reason to not have it so. (there might. key word spamming is tactic in search ranking optimisation.)
