really itchio team please add this feature, for a really long time people been asking for it and here is a proof

https://itch.io/t/1236107/actual-working-tag-exclusion

i dont want to keep getting a HUNDRED OF VISUAL NOVELS when searching literally anything.... i want something like google does that you put the minus symbol behind the keyword u want to remove, and in case of it having more than two words it would look like this -"visual novel"

when will this be added? 90% of the games here are visual novels and i myself played some.. but i want some variation too.. its annoying to have to use ctrl+f "visual novel" to see what games are visual novel faster and search a little faster skipping visual novel games

While I understand the frustration of people who've been asking for this feature since years ago, I'd like to point out once again that as of this writing there are less than 18K games tagged "visual novel" out of more than 600K in total, and that you can exclude a single tag, which looks like it would help in your case. Also, please try to choose what you would like to see instead. Be more specific than "mostly anything", and itch.io should work much better for you.

well i mean, you could exclude any unwated tags if you put the -tag_name

Yes, I know what you mean.

you all still haven't awnswered as to WHY you can't do this.

That's because I haven't received any explanation either. Sorry.

Hi! You're saying you can exclude a single tag, but how do you do that? I'm trying to find specifically multiplayer games that aren't local, but most local games are tagged with both the general multiplayer as well as local. So if there's a way to exclude just one tag, it would absolutely help me out. Thank you!

As explained in any of the many topics linked from the one mentioned in the OP.

Do you mean the ctrl+f?

Put this at the end of an itch URL and replace the word tag with the tag you want to exclude.

 ?exclude=tg.tag

thank you!

but it only works with one tag? not sure why you can search with multiple tags but only exclude one...

Regardless of the total volume (and I'd say 3% of all games is still fairly substantial), adult/dating sim/visual novels seem to flood the "Popular", "Top Sellers" and "Top Rated" searches for certain tags because they are understandably popular, but if I'm looking for a genuine horror game then I don't really like having to sift through all the vampire porn games and zombie dating sims. I can turn off Adult content, but that hides a lot of genuine horror games too.
