Inputting HTML tags in your itch.io games to have a better visibility/advertising/SEO in search engines?

I see that you can change your writing into HTML in your individual itch.io games/projects. Can it help your games'/projects' visibility/sales to include some HTML tags like <title> and <meta> tags to do so? I have never done so and my sales rather poor. Please let me know! Thanks in advance.

No, it wouldn't, since 1) they wouldn't be in the right place and 2) itch.io takes care of that for you. Just fill in the game data correctly.

if it wouldn't, then what's the point of HTML being there?

So you can add more tags than the rich text editor offers, and IDs / classes in case you have custom CSS enabled.
