Is my username too complex/long?

I'm trying to get into game development. However, I'm wondering if the complexity/length of my username will make people not bother to go to my developer page or they will mess up my name and think that my page doesn't exist.

Most other people have names that you can understand and remember easily. Should I change my username? This is an alias I've had for a while and I'd like to keep it as my name for itch.io. I'm just wondering if it would hurt the popularity of the games I make. Thanks everyone.

In my personal opinion, the complexity of your username shouldn’t matter much. I can think of numerous games I like, but struggle to remember the name of their developer studio, even if it’s a simpler one.

If in doubt, you can always change your username later, but if you are new in the game development world, you will find more popularity from making good quality games, than from your username.

Having said that, it’s a good idea for your username and profile icon to be on the unique side, so that you are more recognizable when a user sees you multiple times. I think your current username and profile picture are good enough for a starting step. Once you grow as a game developer you can always re-brand or spend more time/resources on updating your image.

Hope that helps, looking forward to seeing your creations around :)

My main reason to read dev log is my interest on the game's progress. I almost don't care about developer's name.

Even if I forgot developer's name, I still remember game's name and I can search that game. I'll acquire developer's name from game's page later.

So, make sure your game is interesting so people would love to follow its update. And to relate your question, don't make too complex name for your game.
