For the Animal Companion species list, I’d recommend changing “canid” and “felid” to “canine” and “feline.” I had to look up the first two. It seems like scientists might be familiar with the words, but I’m suspicious they’ll trip most people up.
A new take on a classic idea, Fantasy World is roleplaying Powered by the Apocalypse for the 2020s. · By
In Claw and Dagger:
Does the Wayfarer always Brawl with Advantage when they take this move, or only when they’re applying animal behavior to close quarters fighting?
Regarding Gods of the Wilds:
Who are the “great old ones who dwell in the wilds”?? Gods, or not gods?
In Raptor Shot:
Would it be clearer if the options were reversed, and the number of options were also reversed? Something like:
10+ = choose 1
7-9 = choose 2
1-6 = choose 3 + World ReactionOptions:
- it takes a very long time
- it causes collateral damage or problems
- it attracts unwanted attention
- it takes multiple attempts (spend 1 Supply)
Does that make sense? This seems clearer to me, since it’s usually easier to think about what does happen than what doesn’t happen. But I’m not sure if this is what you’re going for!
For the Trapper move, it feels like the move gives a lot of suggestions, but no actual narrative control to the Wayfarer. Right now, the Wayfarer AND the World choose all the options together. It’s, like, a really nice structure for deciding together what a trap might look like and how it might work, but the exact same conclusions could be reached, without the move, just by talking with the World about it.
Are there any of these options that the Wayfarer can just pick themselves, rather than working with the World to decide together?
