Question for players - How important is a video?

I wondered how important it is to have a video trailer or games - so this is a question to players.

Do you ONLY play games with a video trailer, or does it not matter?

I'm not sure if I should spend time making a video - because tbh people play my game & think it's great... but it's a text adventure so looks very boring if watched.

So I think people will love my game if they start playing it. But I'm worried if they watch a video they'll think it's boring.

Should I create a video?

While looking for games to play, I focus a lot on gameplay videos before I make a purchase. Even if the game has no video, I go online and search for gameplay videos to get an idea how a game plays.

A video just helps make your project stand out from other projects. If you already have a nice amount of people playing your game, you don’t need a video.

That’s a good point, I don’t think I’ve watched many text adventures gameplay videos. I’m sure someone with experience can make something that sells their game, but I wouldn’t know how possible that is.

Have you got a demo available? If it’s a text adventure, a demo might be a good idea to allow users to try the game for free, before deciding if they want to purchase the full version.

Yes, there's a free demo available for all my games. Most people who have bought the full version have played the demo first.

I might start planning a video, but I'm still unsure it's a decent introduction to my game, like the demo is.
