Can I share a macOs build for free on Itch.io?

Hello,

After the latest Global Game Jam, we decided to continue working on our game. The game is made with the Unreal Engine and some of us work on macOs. We would like to share the game for free on itch.io and are wondering if we can add a macOs build without having an Apple Developers Account?

We know that we do not need the apple dev account to make the build. It's more of a licensing question.

Thank you!

You can create a macOS build without having a Apple developer account but macOS will throw an error when someone tries to run a non-notarized executable. It’s possible for the owner of the computer to work around that, but the average user will unlikely be able to run your game.

Ok, thank you.

Is it because of the Security & Privacy default setting?

Atm we want to mainly ask people to play test the game. So I guess those interested in playing are going to be people we know personally. I guess we can always take an Apple dev account once the game is totally finished.
