You can create a macOS build without having a Apple developer account but macOS will throw an error when someone tries to run a non-notarized executable. It’s possible for the owner of the computer to work around that, but the average user will unlikely be able to run your game.

Is it because of the Security & Privacy default setting?

Atm we want to mainly ask people to play test the game. So I guess those interested in playing are going to be people we know personally. I guess we can always take an Apple dev account once the game is totally finished.
