Yes, the game is based on brotato and vampire survivors, they do auto attacks. In the shop between waves you can get additional weapons, most are traditional projectiles, some are explosives. You can then upgrade those weapons with other bonuses from the shop. If you don't see any weapons on the first shop open, click reroll until you see things like the "paper plane" or "pencil darts".
