Cool I love this sytle too, ok so there are illustrations of public domain. Yes I see your icons for your Character classes are different indeed

Since the illustrations inspired me, I make a test :

Not perfect for shure, I keep appearance of the knight by giving it a new position. The downside is, that I've strayed a bit from the 13th-century illustration style, but it was to see what a sprite rendering would look like. What do you think?          Anyway, I'll read your rules when I can, probably see ya!

Hi, I have a lot to say, but I'll keep it as concise as possible. I love and share your overall vision and the cool design zine/collage too!

I act and create in this direction in my own way, creating rather cryptic prototypes that blend art, symbolism, and gameplay, this doesn't an easy road, but is my artistic need for now. I've also  offered sprites and  recompose music to creators, often in response to AI-generated work. So I think it's pretty close to  your vision, I was even thinking of sharing a discussion thread around this vision, to get people thinking and involved. This kind of approach (zine / book) would be perfect for that, I note that ;)

Anyway, thanks for sharing ideas. Yes, things can probably be done differently, even in this world, by keeping an open mind, talk, know users, sharing, and collaborating. Good luck with your future projects, take care all!

Cool, glad to read it ;) I'm curious to see the result, good luck with the new game version port!

Hi! I love the illuminated manuscript design, it's gorgeous and inspiring. I'll take a closer look at the rules and character sheets, which seem clear and well-presented. And... I have a question: did you create the illustrations yourself?

Let me tell you somethnig,

I created a tactical RPG engine (like Fire Emblem) a while ago. The tile-based style, outside of 4X games (like Civilization), is missing on PC for me. Currently, I'm working on a completely different creative movement, but an illuminated manuscript design in that style could be a good fit. (I don't think I would have thought of that myself!)  Perhaps a collaboration in the futur, who knows? :)

Anyway I'll take the time to look, read rules and lore, and I'll probably give you feedback. In any case, good luck at you!

With pleasure Mast, that will get me back into composing music too.

It's true that in your little project, I see something simple and classical, yes, but with clean design and a good rendering. For me, it's missing especially, that little something extra, something to make it original, perhaps in the level design or the game design. But classical form is allready cool. Don't worry for the link I would find a solution, maybe simply an host (I have a sound cloud) or a itch link as you say.

I'll let you know when I've finished it, (don't be too impatient) see you soon ;)

Je n'y manquerai pas avec plaisir ;)

Hi Dream Mix, I know you! You're the man who made the "zelda maker" engine, no ? I was follow you in your parteon in the past. Anyway, even though I haven't played it, I love the retro graphic style of Kart Maker, which I had already seen on the web. Good luck at you, I test when I can,  see ya!

Salut Chuck Chan bien content de te retrouver ici ! mmhh vous avez utilisez les musiques d'ALT236, intéressant. Le jeu à l'air magnifique et soigné, je le teste dés que je peux, bravo à vous 4 !

Hi DEM XR, I hope you allright!

Yeah, the rendering of the different colored lights looks really good, and it could lead to some cool mechanics, like a specific effect for each color, for example. I see your design intention in your thumbnail, you're not so far in-game.  And tell me, the knight sprite is an open source form g-develop or something like this, no? If you want I can test to re-sprite it for a more personal rendering.  When I have the time, of course, what do you think ? And another feedback I forgot to mention, the barrels don't destroy every time, sometimes you can't destoy them. And for me, the jump is too speed, too nervous (that might be also a personal thing).

Anyway, probably see you soon!

With pleasure!

I was thinking, if you'd like, I could recompose the music from your level (keeping the melody) with better sound quality; I'm a composer. Let's see how it turns out, what do you think? Of course, when I have the time, I'm also a developer. And I could also, offer you other feedback sometimes, when I have the time and if you'd like of course. Anayway, probably see you next time!

Hi, as ColorOptimist, I come here because the thumbnail as very cute and good. It's right the double gameplay is cool, and It also reminds me of Ice Climber, its a good base.  In fact, I think it would be a good idea to move more towards that style of level design, a vertical gameplay, is not used that much.

Since I couldn't work today, and your thumbnail inspired me,

 I made this :

What do you think? He is no perfect, but he is but it's man-made.

I think it corresponds quite well to your thumbnail and so to your intention. This might be a good fit for you?

In any case, good luck with the rest!

Cool shoot 'em up, very arcade-like indeed! I like the simple and clean HUD and especially the enemy sprites. Very cool!

That said, I find that the music, while good, isn't of a quality that does justice to the graphics, in terms of sound quality, not composition. (That could be a matter of personal preference.)

But otherwise, I really liked it overall, simple and fun, good work!

(1 edit)

Thanks DEM XR, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

For the collapsing ruins, I think you might be referring to a later part, since you don't appear to be stuck at the location shown in the screenshot. If I understand correctly,  you are perhaps referring to the section with the moving platform?

In any case, thanks a lot for your feedback and for appreciating the atmosphere and visual style. I'm glad the experience resonated with you!

Glad to see you're feeling better ;)

Hi, I wanted to try your game, but my antivirus detected it as malicious. (Currently I'm not taking any risks.) Do you plan to make an HTML version? In any case, your game intrigues me, I like the minimalist style. I think I recognize the graphics and resolution from Pico-8. Maybe I'll try it someday!

I tested and finished your game. The lighting is cool and the visuals are clean (the knight sprite looks familiar). I found a bug in the second room: if you don't go through the top, the engine always pulls you back to the right. I managed to reverse the gravity, but I didn't know what to do with it. To be honest, the lighting system inspires me; there are some ideas worth exploring there ;)

Hey, don't lose hope.

I know it's hard, especially in video game.

I'll try your game and give you some feedback as soon as I can.

Also, the lighting and visuals on your title screen looks really nice and creates a cool atmosphere.

Hang in there and take care!

Hi, I'm currently developing video game prototypes,

These two prototypes are short and free,  playable to browser and have an interconnected universe.

Lost in Creation

https://ulversoul.itch.io/lost-in-creation

You are playing the creative flame, which has just been waken, anew. Lost in Creation is a contemplative game of reflection and reactions that requires the player to observe and experiment.

Gameplay : Mouse

Path to Dusk's Soul

https://ulversoul.itch.io/path-to-dusks-soul

You play as Kaldalius, a wounded and cursed idealistic knight, seeking to cross the path of the soul's dusk. Path to Dusk's Soul is a atmosheric, mystical and perilous crossing where it is said that light can burn even the soul.

Gameplay : Keyboard

I'm currently working on the third prototype, which, like almost all my work, is similarly interconnected.

Their symbolic, minimalist, and metaphorical content is strong and intentional.

If my universe ignites something in you, so feel free to follow my work here,  it's a real gesture to encourage me.

Your feedback is also very valuable to me. It helps me improve these experiences

and to understand how you live expercience.

Even though they are prototypes, they have an introduction and an end.

The game is also,  understanding the mechanics and any elements of the lore by yourself. Have a nice experience !

Thanks to those who will try the adventure,

See ya!

Idle game ,aren't really my type of game, but very polished with good sound feedback, and nice work on the menus well done! And well done for all the the languages available, that's appreciated for this type of game.

Just one small point I forgot to add to finish my little "review" from yesterday: your fun and easy-to-read concept deserves to be explored in more depth ;)
