The art being unpolished was my fault. This was my first time making a lot of art for a game so I didn't even consider how pixel sizes would affect anything. The level design for level 3 was meant to feel haphazard to show a sort of run down place, but the other levels definitely needed polish. For the falling level the point was that you jump into the fire and basically never hit the ground so you stayed safe, though I didn't make that very clear.

Overall, the game was mostly unpolished because of a lack of time. We were going to have an artist make the art but he was busy part way through so art took time away from coding and design. Thanks for the helpful feedback and it's definitely given me things to look out for in future games!

Great game! The voices were great and the gameplay felt smooth. I think that this is the best game I've played so far from this jam. The atmosphere of the entire game felt perfect. Great job!

TOPGames here. I implemented a SilentWolf back-end service. They're easier to work with after you do it once. Here's the link to the website of the service I used https://silentwolf.com/.

I'd be interested in working together! I sent you a request on discord!

Really fun game! Like others are saying, the controls felt tight and movement felt smooth. I like how the player is able to learn during the combat. It added a layer of thinking, without having to use aggravating puzzles.

I completely agree haha. I had a lot of bugs with the game where I just said, screw it, I need to release the game. While I have no plans to continue on this game exactly, I do plan to use it as a framework for future games where I can hopefully polish and just devote more time to it. Thank you for playing the game as it means a lot to me! I also thank you for the realism of your comment and will work hard to improve in future games!

Hey. I've subscribed and am glad you played the game! I'm glad you enjoyed!

Awesome use of humor in games. I like how the art was oxymoronic for the actual gameplay. Added a bit to the  humor.

Soundtrap. Works in browser(so any computer even if you change OS which is nice), powerful, and the free version is all you need.

Thanks! Good luck on any projects you have in the future!

Yeah we are set on music for now.

Alright let me know your discord so I can add you!

Hello Godot Devs and Tech Artists that clicked on this topic!

Me and my group are looking for Godot Devs. Keep in mind, you will be working with other Godot Devs. So now that we have that established, here's some stuff about our project and what you need to know.

  • What is the concept so far?

Other than RPG, we haven't decided on an idea. We want everyone in our team to have some creative freedom so in a sense the concept is whatever your ideas meshed with ours becomes!

  • When does it start?

Mid September

  • When does it end?

Late 2020 - 2021

  • What do I need to do to join?

DM me on discord TØPGames#7029, comment on this post, or you can send an email to me at topgamez123@gmail.com (though you might have to wait a day or two). Let me see something you've made! It doesn't have to be amazing, I just want to know that you can stick with something and make it to the end. If you're a Godot Dev any prototype/game works! If you're a Tech Artist, show me any work that you've done before. Also, if you've done any marketing before let us know as that is another area where we could use some people!

  • Compensation

Rev Share. It will be equal among us all unless there is an obvious reason that this shouldn't be the case.

  • Final Words

Glad to have anyone on the team as long as they are willing to stick it out with us and get something amazing made!

Hello fellow humans,

Today I am starting the development of Project Theta. Here is everything that you need to know about this project moving forward.

Q:What is this game going to be?

A:The game will be a RPG that includes multiple characters. Right now the idea is to have a slasher, an assassin, and a shooter. The gameplay will revolve around killing enemies to progress along in a world with small puzzles. There will be mechanics that are in many turn based RPG's such as burn, stun, and poison. The goal is to make an action RPG that includes some parts from its turn based counterpart.

Basically just kill stuff

Q:What is the timeframe for this project?

A:Around 1.5 - 2.5 months is the goal

Q:Who is working on this project?

A:Likely just me. I may add someone for music or art but that's doubtful.

Q:How can I keep up with development?

A:You can join our discord here or provide feedback in the comments of this devlog.

Q:Why are you writing a devlog rather than working on the game?

A:Good question...

July 3, 2020:

Here is some art that I've made for the game. I'd love feedback and suggestions on how I could improve it as my art skills are...shall we say lacking? Thanks to rvos for the framework that I used to make all of these sprites. Check out the asset at https://rvros.itch.io/animated-pixel-hero. I promise you won't regret it if you have art skills like mine. Here is my art that I have thus far.

Shooter Class

Slasher Class

Assassin Class

That's all the art I have for now. In terms of the coding stuff (a.k.a. the fun stuff), I have gotten down the movement for the characters and will eventually get down some of the enemies and hurtboxes/hitboxes soon. In general I expect to have the players and enemies finished(including art) in a few weeks at the most.

That's all for now. Next update coming soon. Be safe and have a good day!

July 5, 2020:

Well I've finally learned how to make a devlog on a project so here's the link to it; https://topgamez.itch.io/project-theta/devlog/159748/project-theta-rpg-devlog. I will be using that as my devlog so check it out. I'll keep up progress reports. You can also keep up with the progress at our discord which is at http://discord.gg/jVNzRNd. Be sure to join to get announcements and stuff.

Thanks for the feedback! I found the issue with the flags not changing colors but didn't have time to fix it.
