Agreed on the sound effects. A block ability might be good

I'm not the biggest RPG fan, but I thought this was fun. I liked how the player was offered whether to heal or level up, it adds some strategy. (Maybe this is common, but I haven't seen it before.)

Are you limited to three party members? At one point, it seemed like someone was going to join me (the guy on the bridge), but the party left without comment.

The ending was a bit buggy. While the demon lord was on the ground, dead, an intact version of him (her?) was standing just fine behind it. Also, the option at the end to go back to the menu didn't work, I had to click to abandon the run.

Speaking of the demon lord, I definitely wasn't expecting that. In a perhaps fittingly anime-esque moment, they appeared the exact moment my mom came in the room, lol.

Thanks for playing! I'm definitely seeing damage in the video that shouldn't be happening. I'll have to look into it.

Worlds seem the same, visuals are a bit inconsistent. The game itself doesn't really have any of the plot that the page mentions. As was already mentioned, the mechanic of shooting draining your HP without any indication, and dying taking you unceremoniously back to the title screen, are very confusing until you figure out what's happening.

Good work on finishing the game though!

Controller support is still borked (same issues others have mentioned). I know the page says mouse + keyboard only, but the game immediately asks if you want to use a controller so...

I’m not the author and I don’t have a modern Game Maker license, sorry

It looks like it requires Game Maker, which costs money unfortunately

This requires a paid program...

This game reminds me of when I was a kid, and didn't have enough GBA link cables to play.

Very fun game! However I get an error after the level that introduces the wifi teleporters:

It does work in Chrome (but not Firefox). Am playing it now 👌

Is this a bug? There doesn't seem to be anywhere to go, and the balls don't reach the button.

Also the game crashes in the intro if you double jump over the right wall or dash into the loading zone on the left.

I might be dumb (and not very good at FPSes), but how do you beat levels? Never miss a shot, in addition to getting rid of all your money in the time limit?

Is there supposed to be a double jump? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Very impressive!

How would you say it fits the theme? Just the coffee being used up and/or ending in a crash? I ask in case I missed something.

A cool little game. In the YouTube trailer I see what looks like another level, how do you get there?

I get an error while loading: abort("both async and sync fetching of the wasm failed")

Using the mouse wheel is super finicky on the web version and both directions seem to go the same way. Will download and test the Windows version

Edit: the Windows version fixes that. Cool game! Pretty confusing for me, but I might come back to it

I've never seen RNG in a puzzle game, and I think I see why tbh. Fun concept tho

I keep getting errors stopping it from loading completely. "RuntimeError: index out of bounds" "RuntimeError: indirect call to null"

This part is less of a nightmare now 👍

Yeah uhh, I'll definitely tweak it after the jam 😅 If it helps, you need to get a running start to get the full three-blocks-high jump you can do in this game. You can use your brake to help get closer to the wall without slamming into it, so you have more space to run.

And at the top, if you miss the jump right before the next tower, you can get a reset on your timer by jumping against the wall, since the signal extends half a block beyond the wall.

I did a game for a jam once that used it too (my first game on Itch). I can't remember how I did it tho lol

A solid execution. The waves take too long imo, but I don't really play tower defense games so maybe I'm not the best judge

Nice puzzles. I think the hitboxes are too unforgiving though. I don't quite understand where you need to stand in level 4.

A very solid little game, especially for your first. I could have kept playing a dozen more levels.

If anyone else is as confused as I was for a while, you can aim where you're pointing a satellite dish with the mouse while you're holding Shift to interact with it. It might be good to explain that in the game. Also, there were various spelling and punctuation errors in the dialogue.

Potential bug, the gun doesn't seem to want to go against the left wall.

Too hard for me. Neat sorting puzzle tho.

A chill puzzle game. Very nice.

I may have cheesed the last level, not sure if that was intended.

There's an invisible wall here. I like the shooting minigame. Nice presentation

Nice procedural generation

The new version is up.

I’ll upload a new version today that explains how to play, but it’s arrow keys to move, Z to jump, X to brake, and Shift to spin. It also has controller support

Came back to this one to leave a comment. Very enjoyable, I love platformers, one of my favorites from the jam. Something to point you in the direction of orbs and bugs you haven't found yet would be nice.

Also every time I read the tagline, my mind replaces it with that Ned Flanders meme

Not sure if this error is from the game or not, but it came up when I launched it. Perhaps relatedly, it came with a saved game, although I suppose that could be part of the narrative (a la Ben Drowned).

Is it supposed to end abruptly? On the flip side, I like how it gets right into it.

Thanks for playing! To clear up some likely confusion, plain corpses aren’t considered decorations (since they didn’t feel enough like actual Halloween decorations to me; maybe I was being overly picky), you have to get more creative in how you dispatch people. The verb for mixing things is “mix” (“and”/“with”), but it requires the cauldron.

Thanks for pointing out the bug. A friend noticed it too. I think I know what’s causing it.

She just has bones on the inside

There's a type of decoration (skulls) that's impossible to get in this version, sorry about that. There are three other kinds that you can find however. One of them requires an item you can find in Wisty's house. Decoration happens automatically whenever you enter the house while carrying a decoration. Thanks for playing!

I think what initially confused me about that is the colors. Red is closer to the target frequency, right? Initially I assumed green before noticing the actual number. Maybe using an effect other than a color would work better?

Very fun! I'm not normally a big fan of card-based video games, but I enjoyed this a lot. Some of the task locations cut off the text that tells you how many turns are left in the task, and it can be a bit hard to select what you want sometimes.

The bigger issue that I encountered, though, is an error message and crash. I could only see the message when alt+tabbing, for some reason. For context (it's unfortunate Itch doesn't have spoiler tags, so I'll be a bit vague), a character died while I was carrying another character.
