Hell yeah, new fav version hahaha. Currently working on the game after updating levels 5 and 6 (patched levels will be included in the build as well)

Gotcha, I'll fix it. Would you like if I add a secret "Win" screen with the song "ChuChu Lovely MuniMuni MuraMura PrinPrin Boron Nururu ReroRero"? (Yeah, I'm serious. If you wanna know what the song is about, tryna look it up) I just thought it would fit, since my game/remake's purpose it's to criticize vile people and their "acts", acts that would even make Satan sad (absolute cinema)
There it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lWn_yUiUFT1SqCf70MzjPQ5NkLb1503z/view?usp=shari...
(If there's any mistake or inconvenience, let me know. I didn't playtest the thing, BUT I re-checked all the scripts and things before uploading it. Hope that's the build u looking forward to play!)
I'm working on it, but I ran into a bit of a snag... While modifying Level 2, I noticed an error: all the blocks had a height of 3.5 instead of 4, so I basically (almost) had to rebuild the level from scratch. This fix will be included in your build, but I also had to fix it in my main build. I expect it to be ready in a few days, as long as I don't get too bogged down with other stuff.
Edit: I also modified the walk/run speed in levels 2 and 3 to match the original game.
No problem, bro! :) Unfortunately, I can’t add a level selector for one specific reason: Terror Engine Reborn 2.1 was the version originally used to create Sad Satan. I’ve been hunting for that version, but it’s basically lost media at this point—impossible to find.
If I use version 2.5a to compile the game, the lighting and even the skybox textures change drastically because of the version jump (you can see this for yourself if you try to run Level 1 on Terror Engine Reborn 2.5a). That’s why I can’t implement a level selector or even create a 32-bit build, sadly... If only someone could get their hands on a copy of version 2.1...
Anyway, everything else is doable. So, just to make sure I’ve got this right:
- Replace "Level 2" of this version with the "Level 2" from the archive.org version.
- Set a 20-second trigger for the ghost girl’s scream.
- Add a secret zone (plus some new audio and images).
- An ending screen with "Ytse Jam" by Dream Theater playing in the background.
By the way, thanks for the review! I really appreciate it.
Thanks! I’m glad you think it’s the best remake to date. Regarding the 'JPG overlay' in level 2/3: you should take another look at OHC's video. You see, when the overlay ends, the player is already moving and the audio continues for a fraction of a second. This means the overlay is correctly placed in Level 3, as it allows the player to move while the image is still on screen.
If you watch closely, Level 2 and Level 3 are actually separate levels with different filters. Because of that, I can't remove either one, which means that extra loading screen is unavoidable unless I cut one of the levels entirely, which wouldn't be nice for a well-made remake.
As for the Ghost Girl trigger, I see where you're coming from, but I think it works better this way for now.
As for the yellow light, I tried to replicate it for hours a while ago, but I wasn't able to. Anyway, I didn't care much because it looked like a lighting glitch, haha.
That being said, would you want a 'custom build / personalized copy' for you? I could make a version where the Level 3 overlay trigger is moved to the end of Level 2, set the Ghost Girl scream to a 15-second trigger, or even add an extra zone and a ending. Let me know if you’d be interested in that!
Hey man, I see your point. But keep in mind that the scream could trigger while the player is already in the room with the ghost girl group, or at any other point... It all depends on the player's pace. This gives the scream a sort of 'new role,' since it can go off at different moments for everyone depending on how they play through those 70 seconds.
By the way, I finally removed the only unnecessary loading screen, along with a level that only contained a single script (I moved that script to its original intended level). To see these changes, just replay level '9'
Hey, glad to see you back. I totally get what you're saying. I’ve actually been thinking about making a '2.0' or 'Extended Version' lately, like adding more levels, images, audio and an actual ending, but I’m still not 100% sure if I’ll go through with it.
Regarding the Ghost Girl level: I tweaked the script because I noticed the scream triggers exactly 70 seconds after the Baphomet image (you can double-check this in the second part of OHC’s video). In the original, OHC manages to get past her by jumping over her, but it looks terrible from a quality standpoint. That’s why I decided to make the hallway slightly wider so you can walk past her, and lowered the jump height so players can't just hop over NPCs.
About the loading screens: This is definitely on my 'must-fix' list for the future. Since it's not a big of a deal, I don't have a set date for it yet—might be tomorrow, might be next month... I’m not sure.
Regarding the ending: I first discovered Sad Satan back in 2015 when I was around 12 or 14. One of the things that stuck with me the most was that ending... Being trapped in a loop forever. Sad Satan follows that 'cursed lost media' or creepypasta style, similar to Sonic.exe. Those games don't usually have a standard 'ending,' let alone a 'You Win' screen. Instead, they usually end with creepy game-over screens, softlocks, or the game crashing/deleting itself. A 'Winner' screen would completely ruin the atmosphere these games try to build.
In the original 4chan clone, it also ended that way; trapped forever with some song in the background. Since the theory is that OHC is the creator of both versions, I believe this ending is objectively the most accurate. That said, I could still add 'secrets' or 'extra zones' within the existing levels without breaking the original canon, similar to the easter eggs in Sonic.exe where backtracking at a specific moment teleports you to a new area. For example, I could hide a 'You Win' screen in the final level if you follow a very specific path... but that’s a conversation for another time.
I mean, I don't have a problem with you or anyone using my assets, the problem is that "Nurse Dashie" made the remake we use as a base to make our builds and no one gives credit to them. I also think you shouldn't associate yourself with that "Scarebere"/"ScarebereZK" guy, he's a criminal a is actually in prison, people know this but fake acccounts keep showing up on Internet.
I just think you should change your username to not pretend to be Scarebere, make/modify your own build of Sad Satan and give credit to those who made the build you're using.
Sure! I'd be delighted if an even more accurate version exists! Use all the levels you want and modify them to your liking to make the game better.
I don't think loadscreens matter, since OHC made a lot of cuts on his videos and even edited them, for example; when the game suddenly drops to literally 3/5FPS for some seconds.
Update me when you've updated the game, I'll be happy to try it out!
EDIT: I just checked level 3, the blood texture/bloody wall was there all the time, you can check it out.
