all good! We appreciate the feedback. We did add the firefly to make it clearer that Baxter was following it.  We decided to dedicate a small amount of time to just cleaning a few things up before we put it to rest in its final current form. Onto the next game! If you wanna check it out you can here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1614440/Bo/?beta=0

We did an update if you wanna check it out!

very cool. The animation for grappling was so simple but it added so much. Very difficult because its a bit finicky but definitely would play this addicting game once its polished a bit more. Maybe right click can be retract?

love the splash art! thats why i initially clicked it. It was cool, pretty standard top down shooter. I am not 100% sure about how it fits the theme but perhaps  I was missing something.

I thoroughly enjoyed that!!! the music was great the art was great, the mechanic was fun. would love to see this idea explored in the future as it is pretty dang unique as far as i know.

yeah that second level is a part where we could have benefited massively through more play testing haha thanks for playing!

We're glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and thanks for playing :D Getting the vibe of the game was tricky because we wanted it to be a little spooky, but ultimately focus on helping the adorable baby bat.

As for the bugs, yeah....lol There's a lot of work we need to do to fix some major bugs in the future. Thanks again :D

Thanks for playing it to the very end! The unpossession of the ball which shoots you up was a last minute addition before we focused on designing the levels in detail (or at least as much as we could given the time lol). We could've done a better job including some sort of explanation of that mechanic and we'll work on improving that in the future. Thanks again :)

Thanks for bringing up some of these issues to light and it's always helpful to point out these issues to us. We agree that all of those issues you pointed out and we'll be fixing, or at least most of them, in an updated patch after the game jam contest has closed.

The only bug that you mentioned which is particularly tricky in code to fix is the 4th one: possessing both the bat and the ball at the same time. That's because we are using a Raycast2D range around the fox to detect possessable objects, which can lead to possession of 2 objects at once if they're both within range. Hopefully that's something we'll restructure in code in the updated patch. Thanks for playing our game :D

lol. I guess that bug really wants you out of his body. Maybe there's another way to use that height to your advantage 🤔

insanely polish visually. absolutely stunning.

yeah that area has some missing dialogue that caused bugs so we cut it. But essentially the demon fox can pass through the fire but the bay cannot. Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback. We had one more possession in the works but it was cut for time.

Wow! Thank you so much for checking it out. Yes the fox was actually a pre existing asset from another game we are working on so the animations are a bit more fleshed out. Glad to know someone enjoyed it. Also you brought some bugs to our attention that we weren't even aware of so thank you! Some of the hitboxes can definitely be tweaked. We agree. Admittedly we didn't have a lot of time for play testing.  Thanks again!

super creative. cool art style.

Dude! that was SO fun no lie. Th mechanic where you can chain two together so thy both die was fun. I think the most fun part was moving around like spiderman through the levels. one thing ii do want to say is that the sound effect you chose for then the kunai hits was annoying and didnt really fit. A kunai in my opinion should have a swift satisfying clink sound. I understand you wanted to keep the 8 bit thing going on so there were limitations, But this was definitely one of more fun games i played this jam great job.

I was confused about what do to at first but it was easy enough to understand hat was happening. Maybe add an animation of the crab picking up the box? good puzzles and simple yet effective. I liked the car on the first screen, added some mystery to the game. hehe great job.

Combining genres I think was such an interesting decision for the theme. Original and I'm loving the nostalgic look of VHS. Well done!

I love the concept of the this game. The bugs kinda took me out of it at times but I was still into it. Very original :D

will do

Thanks so much for the feedback! yeah the key to solving that part is to time all the jumps perfectly. It's difficult but definitely doable! We literally forgot to add the burning timer sound effect in there to help make it clearer how long you burn before you die, so we can get how it discourages the player from continuing since they dont know how much time they have before they die. But yeah theres not really a puzzle there, jsut platforming.

Yeah i totally get the time crunch. You did amazing and I know everything can't be perfect. I would love to see this game expanded and polished so everything works. Insane that this is your first game. Great work mate.

omg!!! First of all I had a legit chuckle when i read the name. Secondly, Thiis was the best game i played so faar presentation wise!!! The music, the UI, the tutorial, the color palette, the characters! The character design is so good. I love the little pink/teal one.  I want a plushie. It's pretty frustrating to plat alone, but I know that it was intended for more of a two player experience. I can't applud you guys enough. Super polished and I'm waiting for the full game.

extremely polished everything!!!! You guys are good at UI, I love how the menu was like...within the game world. I found my self stuck on the 3rd level for a while because I didnt understand how the lasers worked. But it was fun figuring everything out.

wow. Thaat was super fun to play aand i found myself caring about the balls because of the text you guys added and kind of developing ther story. That should be highlighted more. Sometime i found myself missing the text because I was focused on the game. Also for the first half of my playthrough I was worried that my balls were going to fall off the edge until i realized they couldnt.

Really enjoyed that for what it was. The power up system was the coolest part where the slimes get upgraded. Would love to see that expanded and made mmore clear, but it was a ppleasant surprise when my purple on started wrecking fools. The rats were a bit scary for a first enemy because they were so fast. all around cool concept.
You also might want to try switching the GOOOOO text to CLICK TO START or something like that becuse i didnt realize that was how you began.

The only criticism would be about including a more robust introduction to the attacking mechanics, although I think that's a common issue in all game jam games due to the time limit. Other than that I was highly impressed with this game. I'm a big fan of ninja-themes and the controls of this game felt great, given the amount of time you had for making it. Great work!

The boss battle was a total surprise and very impressive that you were able to make a fun battle like that for a game jam submission. Stacking up the bombs is also an interesting concept I haven't seen used that much in other games.

The voices are great, although a tutorial might have been easier figure out how to play the game immediately.  Visually impressive given the fact that you made this in 2 days. Good concept!

I got so much satisfaction when hitting a snake with the projectile. The physics in general feel really good. Controlling the square does feel a bit out of control at times. Awesome shooter overall!

I appreciated the originality of this game very much and had virtually no load time! It took a second to figure out exactly what was going on but it wasn't too off-putting. The polygon tiles is very interesting concept and it would be awesome to explore this concept further! The only criticism I can give would be to make an intro of sorts so that players who aren't used to this type of puzzler can pick it up easier. Good work!
