Edit: I'd like to thank everyone who reached out to me, I have found the artists I want to work with for the time being.
Hello, I am the developer of Hazel the Bartender, a NSFW furry bartending simulator game with a demo already released. The game already has 18k downloads and a decent following (considering I have done 0 marketing lol) you can check the game out here - > https://smallcaboose.itch.io/hazel-the-bartender All work and assets are, and will be credited.
My original artist has stopped working on the project, so I am looking for a new artist to fill the role. I'd really like to turn this into a full paid game and release it on steam (and other platforms). I'd eventually like to hire a composer and writer too, but I am just not that far into development and my budget won't stretch that far.
I'm open to discussing compensation with Rev-Share or a commission basis. I'm mainly looking for someone who can animate sex scenes in relatively high-resolution pixel art that can match the style of the previous artist. I would also be interested in lower resolution pixel art like 128x128.
If interested, reach out through the comments, or private message me on Itch or Discord - username: caboose_101 I'd love to see your work ^^
hello ^^ thank you. There is going to be more. I don't have any concrete dates because my work schedule is cramped and hardly gives any time for gamedev.(basically my weekend, which is one day a week) You can join my discord where i show off more frequent updates about the game.
more sex scenes are in the works but they will take some time(possibly not ready by 0.3) I've been working on accessibility and quality of life features this patch. Key rebinding's, halfway decent settings and game save system. I also have a homemade dialogue box, I've made the drink making process more natural and centered in the bar area. I've created a decent data management system for handling future ingredient logic as well as a ton of other boring optimizations. I've also took mixing drinks from the blending drinks to actually using a drink shaker.
I would summarize 0.3 as the foundation update, because the code was a chaotic mess at the end of the game jam I had to build the game from the ground up to even think about making this into a full game. My goal was to reduce dependencies of features, which means I can tweak or completely change one feature without breaking another now.
The very rough roadmap, some things don't have specified dates, like mobile compatibility, which i will probably work on in smaller weekly updates.
0.4: Add Cooking to the game add more depth to ingredients and drink making logic to become even more in line with IRL. And start adding features that actually make it a business management game. cash, ingredient purchasing, equipment purchasing, (stuff to spend cash on)
0.5 Liquid Physics, because it would be so much more fun to actually see the liquid pour from the bottle than to just have it be deposited into the cup. new cup types, re-integrate smoothies into the game.
0.6 and beyond, With every update I want to make a leap in both user experience and new content(both horny content and gameplay content), I want more fleshed out characters, and more characters, and story will be a 0.7 or 0.8 thing, there are lots of little things i want to work on like "tasks" as in if you spill some liquid on the counter, you should clean it up, or washing dishes so you dont run out of glasses to use.
I appreciate the positive feedback ^^ I plan to revisit this project when i have a little more experience in the NSFW Genra. There are features i'm working on in Hazel the Bartender that could be transferred to this game like a save system, dialogue, Inventory system. However my biggest hurdle is figuring out how to balance the gameplay to horny ratio.
A story can be engaging and linear at the same time, most VN games have mechanics that force the player to make choices, as in, they can do multiple things in a day, but they cant do everything in a day. a lot incorporate money in some way as another resource to keep track of. but if the VN you're making is too short it might not have enough time to make use of these. I'm no expert in the genra, but there needs to be gameplay somewhere to keep it from being left mouse button simulator
I am planing on releasing a Patreon and Kickstarter soon, like in the next few hours. I’l look into discord options, but my main focus for now is preparing the next update. I’m not entirely sure how to handle social media’s as a team lead because it’s my first successful game but I’m trying my best 😅
Yes, capsule art is basicly thumbnail/initial image. It’s all the same just called different things by different platforms. (Honestly no clue why)
First impressions are very important, having good art on the first impression tells people you put effort to make the game look good. After that, it’s all about showing off your gameplay.
what game engine are you planing to use? I would imagine the skills needed for this would require specific coding skills and possibly data management, but I believe it’s possible.
You might want to look into the Score Space game jam Discord server, those developers specialize in online leaderboard integration
It would be hard to tell without knowing which games you are talking about. It can come down to a variety of things, but if views are the main focus, Capsule Art is usually the main method of attracting clicks. But people also look at secondary images/videos and read the beginning description text.
These are tool that the viewer uses to decide if they click on the game or not.
Thank you for your feedback! It is the most useful tool I have for improving the game. I cannot read the mind of the thousands of players who play the game. So I rely on people like you who give feedback.
I am also not happy with the kitchen mechanics that I have made. I am currently reworking the drink making aspect of the game to feel more natural than throwing ingredients into a blender.
I agree about there not being a use for three glasses. But this issue should go away when I rework the ordering system. I had initially thought of a quick fix that would give you combo points for giving drinks to customers in a short period of time. This however does not fix the underlying issue of the gameplay loop, which, like you mentioned, is lacking depth.
In the future I will do my best to give clear Visual and Audio indicators.
