This game does a LOT right. It has fun gameplay that uses the limitation very well. It's music and sound design capture the mood and feel of the game perfectly. The art does a great job at showing how the player is staying positive in the midst of all the bad thoughts through it's lighting and color use.

All around very impressive game!

Fun game! The intro sequence really impressed me, especially since it was completed in the Jam's time frame. The combat was pretty good as well, I couldn't just mindlessly swing through enemies and I needed to watch for telegraphed attacks. The music is an added plus, and helps bring it all together.

Thanks man, nice video!

Thanks for the feedback! For some reason about 60 hours in my animations stopped working on the first section, but it’s something I intend to fix if I come back to this project. Thanks and I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks! I was going to add a point light to the character and flashlight, but I had completely run out of time. Thanks for the feedback!

This game frustrated me in a weirdly good way. I kept wanting to go back and try to get farther than I did last time. I found the art style great, being a fan of pixel art myelf. A bit more contrast on some levels would've been nice, especially since you have to focus so hard on the screen, but it didn't hinder my experience. Some music would've gone well with the fast paced gamelplay, but in general the audio was great. The sound effects give a lot of feedback, and picking up coins feels good.

Overall, it was a good use of the limitation and a pretty fun game!

lol Thanks

I agree, I feel while some levels were quite easy, others felt unbalanced and quite difficult. Nothing a bit of tweaking can't fix though.

All I have to say is PLEASE MAKE MORE. This game is easily my favorite game I've played so far in the Jam. The supermeatboy esque controls paired with the Galaga like climactic boss fight was like a double kick of nostalgia. It was difficult enough for me to feel challenged, and every death felt like my fault, not the games. However, the final boss fight did get quite a lot easier after I realized I could hold down the gun, but despite this I still felt challenged and engaged by the gameplay. This game also presents itself very well, displaying its very simple controls before you even start and clearly defining every asset on screen with a very pleasing art style. The only negative I could find is that I want to play more!

Deja Vu manages to do quite a bit with the few resources that it uses.

While the game consists of mostly re-used assets that have been recolored, it still maintains a pretty clear tone and atmosphere throughout which is reinforced by the music pretty well. Not many sound effects, but it didn't really hinder my experience. Very clear sense of progression, unlocking new directions the farther in the game you get. The controls felt a bit floaty, but this was overshadowed by the aforementioned mechanic of unlocking directions. I don't fully understand how it uses the limitation, but nevertheless I enjoyed my time playing.

It's also my first time doing a Game Jam (as a matter of fact this was also my first time making a game in Unity), and I wish you the best of luck with future projects!

No problem, I enjoyed the world your game conveyed and it easily felt like one of the most polished games I've played from this jam.

The fact that chrome instantly identified this as a dangerous file and that my anti-virus software had an aneurysm when I tried to open it really just adds to the overall aesthetic of this game. Though I couldn't rate all of it (seeing as my antivirus software is spamming me more than the Instagram Deleted message notification after a breakup) I gave you as much credit as the submission page displays. Godspeed, and pray for my antivirus.

Being a pianist, I really enjoyed this game. While it was really simple, I enjoyed the soothing sound effects of the keys and the polygonal style visuals. The cross between the Frogger/Crossy Road like gameplay paired with the tapping of the piano keys is a very interesting take on the limitation. I enjoyed this game and would love to see something like this on mobile :)

This game is atmospherically beautiful. The visuals and ambient noise blend really well with each other. The sound effects are punchy and satisfying, and gives you good feedback on kills/hits. I would've liked to have been able to skip the beginning explanation and get back to the gameplay, and because the lack of info in the base manager I had to restart often as I didn't know how my choices impacted my people. However, I think the base management idea works well with the 2D shooter aspect of the main game, and would like to see both areas expanded on. I really enjoyed this game, and will be keeping a watch on it in the future :)

Thanks, I made them all like 5 minutes before the submissions were due lol

I'm stuck on the purple level, how do you make the X's disappear?

Loved it. Kept me on the edge of my seat :)
