Haha!  It's funny how many people recognize me by my art style!  (Not that I'm complaining.  I think that's pretty cool actually!)  Sacred Sand was my very first visual novel and it makes me so happy that you loved it enough to keep it on your computer.  I hope you enjoy this one too.  Also, you may be interested in knowing that I'm actually working on a remake for Sacred Sand.  I've still got a lot of work to do as far as art goes for it, but it will happen eventually!

Not as many regrets as you would have had if you actually played it probably.  That is why I put that info up there first. ;P  I try to let people know what they're getting into.

Thank you! :D (And thank you for taking the time to make a video of your playthrough.  I'll have to check it soon!)

Aw!  Thank you so much!  I really appreciate that!  (And no worries!  I completely understand that not everyone has the money to donate.  I'm just happy that you wanted to!)  Anyway, thanks again for playing my game!  I'm glad you enjoyed it!

RPG Maker MV

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a kind comment!  It definitely renewed my interest in the project.  The current version was made for a game jam which is why it's so short.  I do plan to eventually turn it into a longer game.  I just have a few other projects that I need to wrap up before I can get back to it.  (I did want to make my own sprites at one point so that all the graphics were custom, but I may skip that so it doesn't take forever)

Anyway, thanks again!  (And thanks for taking the time to investigate!  I imagine a lot of people missed that particular interaction. ;D)

Just Kei.  The aim was to keep the game small (I was originally trying to do it for a game jam) so I stuck to one romance option.   So, no Oubu route.  Sorry.  That being said, if I do make a game set in the same world in the future, he could very well end up being a romance option then.

Aww, thank you! <3   You're too kind!   I hope you enjoy my future games as well!  Which reminds me, I should be working on said future games.  :P  (I am actually working on them.  Things are just coming together slower than I'd like.)

Aw, thanks so much!  And yes!  I will be making more games.  I love making games!  They just take me a long time to make since I'm working on other projects that take priority over my solo projects.  My current focus is on a remake of my first (and very clunky little gem of a) game, Sacred Sand, so that should be the next one I finish barring any surprises.

First off, thank you so much for your kind comments!  XD  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

And no, you aren't crazy.  The BL vibes are real.  I tried to write the game so you could easily ship Vice with Alain or Jess.  (And I might have been particularly partial to Alain since I am a BL fan.  Haha...)  I'm a sucker for romance options so they are something I am going to include in the larger version of the game which, you'll be happy to know, I am working on (albeit slowly).   The larger version will also include mostly custom assets.   And yes, I plan to give the villagers actual faces.   That was more of a time thing than anything else, but I wholeheartedly agree with you.   I imagine it'd also be far less obvious who to suspect if most people have portraits. ;)

Anyway, thanks again and I shall keep your comments in mind as I work on the bigger version of the game!

(1 edit)

Thank you for taking the time to do a Let's Play of my game!  I had to work up my nerve to watch it since I always get nervous about actually hearing people comment on my stuff (written comments aren't nearly as bad for me for some reason), but I really appreciate it.  I also think it's just really cool in general that you're covering a lot of the contest entries in the first place.  :D

Aaaanyway, I apologize about the TP thing!  I was rushing to finish and I didn't even think about it!   That's a good part of why it isn't very difficult.  Part of it was intentional though.  I personally hate grinding so I tried to make it possible to win without doing any training at all (or buying any items).  That is something I'd definitely tweak in a longer game though.

I'm also glad to hear that you would like to see it expanded on.  I knew I needed to keep my scope small for the contest (especially since I started really late), but once I got going I realized it was something I would eventually want to try to turn into a larger game.  Hearing I'm not the only one on board with the idea is encouraging.

Edit:  And was that a Speed Racer reference you used?  (Pancakes are love.)  Because if it is, you're my favorite person.  Haha.  I was actually thinking that when I wrote the line the guard says in the tavern, but I figured nobody would get the reference so I didn't end up clarifying it to make a legitimate reference.

Aw, thanks!  I'm happy to hear that.  Since it is a really short game I was a little worried people wouldn't have time to get attached to the characters.  Jess is especially tricky since you kind of have to get attached to her quickly since the ending's impact kind of depends on how much you like her to some extent.   So yay!  I'm glad you liked her! XD

Haha.  It's all good.  I've dealt with engrish before.  It can't stop me from enjoying things!  It really does look like a game I'd like.

Haha, you found me out!  BL is my jam.  I like to think I write other pairings decently too though.  :P  I definitely agree that there should be more games with BL options.  (Or GL options if the protagonist is female.  It's just good to have more diversity in general.)

And now I have a new game to check out!  I'd never heard of Romancing Walker before.  (I don't know how since I'm always trying to find games to play with romance options.  :P)   It looks like fun! XD

Gaaaaaah!  I really did forget to add his scar!  After I repeatedly told myself not to forget the scar too!  And then I put that CG in the screenshots!  Haha.   Oh dear.  I'll have to be more vigilant about that in the future.  (I'll probably fix it eventually, but for now I don't want to mess with the game  until the contest is over. )

Anyway, thanks for giving my little game a try.  I'm glad that you enjoyed it and would be interested in a bigger project.  That's definitely encouraging.  If I do make a bigger game (which I'm still thinking I eventually will), it will definitely include a relationship/romance mechanic.  I'm a sucker for them myself so of course I'd have to include one.  ;D

I personally hate grinding  so it was kind of important to me to design the boss battles so that you didn't have to.  My ultimate hope is that they were somewhat challenging if you didn't train, but easy if you took the time to level up and buy items.  (I also figured the poor judges might have had enough of grinding by the time they got to my game. :P)  I probably should have made the villains a little harder to pinpoint because I do agree that it's kind of obvious.  I did kind of want to avoid the whole it was that nice person you grew to love thing that I always see in media though.  I mean, I guess it makes it more surprising, but since it happens so often it's kind of predictable in its own way.  Basically, I was hoping that player's would realize so and so's behavior was problematic and that it probably should have been addressed earlier to avoid this whole incident.

So yeah, thank you for your comment!  You gave me some great feedback that I'll be sure to put to good use!

(On a side note, your comment was very easy to read.  I wouldn't have known you weren't a native english speaker.)

Haha, thanks!  I did try to write it in a way where both Alain and Jess were viable shipping candidates for Vice.  If the game was longer I would probably have put an actual relationship mechanic in it.   That is something I'll probably incorporate if I go through with my plans to make a longer (this game would be the first mission in a larger game) and  more involved version of this game later on.

Aw, thanks!  And yeah, I see your problem.  Itch.io doesn't exactly have a private message system, does it?  Anyway, you are more than welcome to translate it if you'd like.  I don't mind at all.

I'm glad you're enjoying it!  :D   If you've counted correctly, you have four more to go.  You can find a list of all of them and how to get them here in this forum topic:  https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=44375.  (I forget that not everyone finds this page via said thread.  I should probably post a link in the description. :O )  Anyway, just scroll down to that big white block and highlight it to see the text.  Let me know if you still having trouble.

Sorry about that. I'm not sure what happened. This is the first time I've heard about anyone having any issues. Anyway, I'm not exactly well versed in the technical aspects of Ren'py so I'm afraid I had to resort to google to attempt to find an answer. The only thing that I found that I think might be useful is to try redownloading it. That being said, that's probably something you would have already tried. :P Can you give me any more details on the error? I might be able to find something more helpful if I have more specifics.
