Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! If I get around to adding the other utensils after the jam, you’ll be the first to know

Thanks Gamma, appreciate the feedback and congrats on beating it! I should have clarified in the description that we weren’t able to add controller support during the jam timeline, so only the unreal engine default controller inputs are set up. Glad you enjoyed it so much though!

Hey, just an update - I got it working, it was a bit fiddly but if I held left click and then pressed spacebar I was able to drop off resources at the town hall. Just normal left click wasn't working for me. No more bugs after that though and really liked the vibe of what you guys made

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately we ran out of time to optimise everything too much, I think the combination of the lighting, number of enemies and potential particle effects are probably the main causes. You can also change weapons with the mouse wheel - scroll up and down, forgot to mention that in the tutorial. Anyway thanks again for playing and leaving your thoughts!

I got stuck too, couldn't create any peasants

Hey Puddin, thanks for your message, I already found my team though. Good luck for the jam!

Hey Ary I ended up going with someone else, hope that's ok. Good luck for the jam!

Hey Jared, yep I’m still looking. Your work looks awesome. Agree that it looks like we’d cover each other’s weak spots. Happy to work together if you are! My discord username is nick56_

Hey Ary sounds good to me! What’s your discord?

Hey Ian, would you be interested in pairing up? I haven’t participated in a jam either but have plenty of experience working in teams.

I have some ideas for what I’d like to make but a cartoon style could work well, and happy for you to look after all the UI and 2D art. I think a game that potentially doesn’t even use 3D art could be interesting to work on and play to your strengths.

I’ve posted my own thread if you want to know more about me - https://itch.io/jam/collab-jam-25/topic/4678519/unreal-dev-seeking-artist-significant-otter-games

Hi there, my name’s Nick, I’ve been using Unreal for about 15 months now with a focus on programming. I released a game on steam after my first 6 months - Tower Collapse - and recently made a proof of concept / short demo of another game - BirdMafia Zero - available on my itch profile. Prior to this I used to make custom counterstrike minigame maps for a few years so I’m not totally new to ‘game dev’ as such.

I’m looking for one person to pair up with and cover the art.

1. What can I do?

Project management, initial concept / idea, programming, game design and game loop, level design, basic 2D and 3D art assets including UI, as well as basic rigging and animation. I can do almost anything at least at a basic level.

2. What would I like to focus on?

Programming, game design and game loop, maybe level design and initial concept too, but happy to share these

3. What can't I do?

Advanced 2D and 3D art and assets. My rigging and animation isn’t that great either. Help with getting your assets and materials into Unreal would be great and let me focus on my stuff. Also sound and music, normally I just find these online

4. What don't I care about - i.e. other people can have "full reign" over?

Pretty much all the art, including art direction and style. I can offer my own thoughts but I don’t want to step on any toes. I’ve worked in good groups and bad groups in the past so I know what it’s like.

5. What is my time commitment to this project?

About 1 or 2 hours per day on average, but depends on my work and life schedule. I can do more on the weekends. I live in an Australian timezone (GMT+10) so I would prefer chatting and planning things over discord messages / written messages, instead of having voice calls all the time.

6. What kind of games do I like? What genres or game types do I enjoy playing or working on, or would like to try making?

Happy with almost anything. I have some I would lean towards (puzzle, action, FPS) if it were up to me.

Anyway if you’re interested in working together, let me know! Keen to find someone like minded and enjoy making something together

Thanks for getting back to me. I think I’ll go with someone else because I won’t be able to test anything I code in VR unfortunately

Hey Forlorn, do you have some more info about what you’ve made in the past or how long you can commit in terms of time working on the jam? I love that sort of stuff too, so here is some more info about me.

My name’s Nick, I’ve been using Unreal for about 15 months now but I’m more programmer focused. Prior to this I used to make custom counterstrike minigame maps for a few years so I’m not totally new to ‘game dev’ as such. Would you be ok with creating art and getting it across into Unreal? Happy for you to lead the art and creative direction and I don’t want to step on any toes so no issues there.

My latest work is here on my profile - BirdMafia Zero (just a proof of concept). I also released my first full game on Steam around a year ago - Tower Collapse - and I’m working on a big update to it atm. I can do bits and pieces of 2D and 3D art but just basic stuff.

I’d like to get more experience in game design and fleshing out ideas into actual working concepts. I’d rate myself as good with level design, but I’d like to improve on that too, as well as adding juice / game feel.

Game genre I’m not fussy really, just something that fits the theme well and is interesting to work on. Maybe not VR though as I’ve never made a VR game before and won’t be able to test it since I don’t have a system.

I have about 1-2 hours of time most weeknights, and around 3-4 hours per day on Saturday and Sunday, but depends on the week and my work commitments. I’m in Australian time zones (GMT+10) but happy to stick to messaging instead of jumping into calls constantly. I want to stick to a max team size of 2 or maybe 3 so it doesn’t get too difficult to coordinate everyone.

Anyway good luck finding someone. If you’re interested in pairing up please let me know! Thanks

No problem, thanks for getting back to me! All good points. I’ll keep looking

Hey Jackie, that portfolio looks great. I’m keen on pairing up with you if you’re interested. I know how to do it for Blender .fbx models and animations and simple 2D textures, but not so much for textures / materials with node graphs, normals and shaders etc, so I’d need some help.

I can do bits and pieces of 2D and 3D art but nothing like your portfolio, just basic stuff.

For myself I’d like to get more experience in game design and fleshing out ideas into actual working concepts. I’d rate myself as good with level design, but I’d like to improve on that too, as well as adding juice / game feel.

Game genre I’m not fussy really, just something that fits the theme well and is interesting (exciting?) to work on.
