Hm... If re-downloading doesn't work, it might be worth using another program such as Winrar to open the file (you can get it for free). I'm not sure how windows file explorer handles password-protected zip files. Hope you get it working soon and that you enjoy the finale!

Hi there! I'm so glad you're enjoying the game. I haven't heard of anyone not getting a password prompt before. What happens when you try to open the .zip file? What program are you using to open it? And what operating system are you on? I think Windows 11 may have changed the way these files are handled (the game was made on Windows 10). It's possible that the archive will open and show the files inside if you use a program like Winrar, but if you try to open any of those files, it will prompt you for the password. Hope this helps - good luck!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the game! It seems like people are getting some really interesting stories out of it. And thanks for the comment - it's always a wonderful feeling to hear that someone enjoyed something I created!

https://secretfoxfire.itch.io/into-the-forest - Thank you for organizing this!

Thanks so much for playing it! Watching your eyes light up as you made the first few discoveries was the most satisfying thing ever. 😍 Please do let me know if you are going to stream it again so I can try to be there!

Thank you so much for the lovely review! I'm so glad you enjoyed the game. I am also working on an expansion with an all-new Table of Possibilities (which will be free to everyone who owns the game), so keep your eyes open for that. Happy exploring!

Yes, a certain someone sent me the submission link on Twitter earlier. Thanks so much! :D

I had a similar problem. I'm also in Europe and was sure I still had a few minutes to submit. :( The game is here: https://secretfoxfire.itch.io/the-haunted-track

If there's any way to get it in there, I'd be extremely grateful. Absolutely crushing to realize that after two weeks of work it's not in the jam.

I Can Explain is an improv party game about coming up with elaborate excuses for your mistakes. Choose a set of random words, find out what you did wrong, and call upon your friends to back you up. After all, they can’t accuse you all of lying, right?

Into the Forest

In a sci-fi world inspired in part by the game Caves of Qud and the novels of Ursula K. Leguin, venture into a mysterious forest full of strange creatures, intelligent machines, and pale-skinned humans who have never seen the sun. Alone or with friends, set out to make whatever discoveries you can and escape the forest alive, then share your story with the world.

All that is needed to play the game is a six-sided die, a deck of 52 playing cards, and this guide. Accessibility is of prime importance to me, so the game is available both in a standard "fancy font" version and a "clean font" version designed to be more readable for dyslexic players.

I'm trying to set up to sell my first game on Itch but I'm immediately stumped by being asked to enter the name or entity I'm doing business as. Do I have to put my legal name here? I write under a pseudonym and don't want my legal name to be displayed anywhere - can I put the pseudonym here? Can I put my "brand" here? I am in the EU and I have a business license in the Czech Republic but I have not registered any business names. Do I have to make some kind of legal registration to do business under a brand name? I'm only expecting to make a few dollars/euros out of this, so the idea of paying a lawyer to set up a full business seems a little extreme. I had no idea it would be so complicated to set up an account to sell on here. Thanks so much to anyone who can help me sort this out. My game is ready to go, but I have no knowledge of the business side of things.

EDIT: Also, does the name I put in this tax interview form ever appear anywhere publicly? Or am I safe to put my legal name there knowing it will only be viewed by the tax information processor? Thanks!

I was ready to try out the game for the first time, downloaded it via the Itch launcher, and had it ready, but when I ran the game all that came up was a black window with a white clover in it, and nothing happened. At first I thought it was somehow part of the game but after doing some poking around I realized the launcher was using the wrong executable to run the game. I can run the game if I manually go to the folder and open the correct file, but is there a way to fix this with the launcher? Thanks!

Wow, that really means a lot coming from one of the people who helped write it! Thanks!

Alright, thanks for the response! I will probably wait until I have a better card to try this then. Looks wonderful though!

I see the game requires 2 GB of video RAM. I only have 1. If I tried to play the game, would it just not work? Do I have to upgrade my video card to play, or is it possible it will run on lower settings or something?

There seems to be no file to download? Has it been taken down?

Okay, I managed it. Apparently if you only plant one seed it always withers, you have to plant several. Once I figured that out I beat the game in one try. Pretty interesting game, nice work!

I can't seem to make any progress whatsoever. Every single thing I plant withers away until I die of blood loss. Is there some way to keep the plants from withering away, at the start? I'm not sure I understand the mechanics. I get that it's supposed to be tough, but at this point I have yet to get a single plant to grow to fruit even after repeated restarts.

This game is lovely. But for some reason, the game no longer works in the Itch app. I had the game already downloaded and installed previously (I hadn't played it in a long while but it used to work fine), but when I clicked "Launch" nothing happened. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling... And it says "not available on Windows" and won't let me. I can still download it fine on the web site via my library and just run it locally myself. Any idea what's causing that? My other games still seem to work fine.

That's great news, thanks a lot! :) I wish more developers added such accessibility options. <3

Question: Does the game include flashing/flickering? If so, how much/how often? Asking due to accessibility issues. Considering buying it but I want to make sure I'll be able to play it without troubles. Thanks!

Cool, I'll keep watching then. I have too much to do now already, so I'll hold off until there's more out there, but I'll definitely be following this! And there's nothing wrong with being an old fart. It gives you the right to shake your fist at everyone younger than you and shout "in my day we had to TYPE to play our games! And use our IMAGINATIONS because there were no graphics at all! And we had to keep notes on paper in a dang notebook! And there was NO AUTOSAVE!" And then you can mutter, for example, "dang spoiled lazy kids these days," which is always satisfying. ;)

Paradise community · Created a new topic MUD = Multiplayer?

There's not a whole lot of info on the page, but I'm assuming MUD means "multi-user dungeon", as in the old online games, right? So this is a multiplayer world where everyone can edit and change things? If so, you should make that clear on the page as it's a selling point and only old farts like me usually know what a MUD is these days. ;) I'm tempted to grab it, just want to learn a bit more about it before letting myself fall into a new rabbit hole. :D
