Thanks. Glad you liked it! :)

Demo Available

We have just uploaded a new version of our Demo (v0.821) for "Something Ate My Alien".

This version includes all the fixes and enhancements we've  added mostly due to feed back from our previous demo.

About the Game

Something Ate My Alien is a 2D, digging and puzzle platformer game where you take the role of the AI Antalasia, and control your little Alien blobs to explore the planets you visit! Your task is to dig through the ground of the different worlds and find all the items required by the pirate that is hijacking you. During the adventure on each planet you have to battle environmental dangers, fight off wildlife, solve secret puzzle chambers, and all this while surviving on a depleting oxygen supply and a threat far scarier than the local wildlife.

About the Demo

The demo is taster of the full game, allowing access to an area of the first planet "Metis" and the chance to solve 3 of the puzzles on that planet, dig for resources & explore. There are no other restrictions to the demo other than the cut down area.

It should give you about 30 minutes play time.

There will be very little changes now, hopefully only bug fixes as we approach our launch date of 18th June 2020.

The demo is available on Windows, Linux & Mac.

Technically, yes it should work, but you would have to re-assign all the buttons (in the Settings/Controls window) I think, and also possibly use a 3rd party app like DS4Windows, from what I read.

However, currently I don't own a PS4 controller, but at some point will be getting one to do testing with as I would like to make it more easy to use PS4 controllers and/or make sure it works 100%.

Yes, controllers are supported in the demo.

One thing we have to make clearer that we've noticed though, is that the 'LB' (the button above the Left Trigger) can be used to 'freeze' the play in it's current place to allow more precise movement of the mining laser or weapon with the left stick. It does tell you this in a pop up box in the tutorial, but it's quite a bit of info in that box, and we feel we need to make it clearer, as people miss it sometimes. But it should work fine.

Oh ok, I see.

Well, there is no problem with the sounds or copyright, it's all bought correctly through Pond5.

We do plan on releasing also on Steam, and we do have a page up already.

Not sure about consoles at this point. We have already implemented controller support for the game, so that is a big part in getting it ready for console release. Will see how the initial release on Windows, Linux & Mac goes and then see what it will take to get it released on further platforms like PS4, XBOX etc.

Thanks, Rob.

Hi,

Why do you think that?

Are you trying to put up a video play through of the game, and having problems with YouTube and the ContentID system? We have had a few instances where YT incorrectly tried to claim some of the music. But we thought this was now sorted out.

All our sounds and music are bought through http://www.pond5.com fully legally.

If you have had your video claimed, if you give me a link, I can get it sorted out pretty quickly for you.

Hi ,

We've just recently release a demo of our game, and would love for you to try it. It should give you about 30 minutes of game play, and a good taste of what our game is like.

Something Ate My Alien - Demo

Just uploaded a free demo of our game "Something Ate My Alien".

We've been developing the game for over 3 years, and we are getting close to release. Thought you might all like a little teaser, so we created this demo of the first little part of the game. It's similar to games like Steam World Dig & Dig dug, with a bit of Sokaban mixed into the puzzles.

You can see a trailer of the game here:

Ah, thanks for the explanation.

I was wondering why my game wasn't appearing in the results, or GA saying anyone has visited my page.

I was putting up a page to get it all done, before we decide what kind of a demo/download to put up on Itch.io.

Maybe as a suggestion, it should say something about this in the 'Uploads' section when you are editing your project/game.

Thanks, Rob.
