You should consider adding to the description of your game the gamepad controls. I was pretty confused at first, but after trying it with a controller everything worked :).

I really enjoyed the retro Gameboy look of your game :),  the visuals and aesthetics are really good. The only thing missing are the sound effects, it could really add a lot to a game like this that is focused on the feeling of discovery.

I really liked your game and I had a lot of fun with the ending!

I was able to make the game work. You need to use a controller, it doesn't seem to work with mouse and keyboard.

Let me start by saying that this game is really amazing to play! The amount of work that went into making the game as appealing as it is is just astonishing! The mechanics are very deep for a game jam game, and I can imagine it being expanded into a larger game. It doesn't feel real that this is a game made in a game jam :).

I just have some small criticisms of the game, but they are more nitpicking honestly.

The first is regarding balance. There is no way to gain health in between levels, however, the enemies grow in strength every turn. Because of this, the last level is almost impossible since you start with very little health.

The second is that the game feels a bit too generic. Lovecraftian themes could also have been incorporated into the cards and mechanics of the game, instead of just the Lovecraftian makeover on the enemies.

Other than that, this game is absolutely fantastic and I really enjoyed it from start to finish :)!

I really liked this game. The visuals are just phenomenal and the game is very fun! I loved cleaning stuff up xD.

As some others pointed out, there seems to be a bug at the end of the game, where the screen all goes to white. But other than that, this was a really fun little game, with some excellent visual effects :)

I just finished your game. I must say I'm in awe! Your ability to write is really something out of this world, I was gripped along the journey of this small story :).

I feel that this is a pretty contained little game, and it achieves everything it tries to do!

To make the game more dynamic, you could add some sound effects for each scene. For instance, the sound of birds, the leaves and wind, or a very light breeze at the moon scene. You could also add some sound effects when turning the page. However, this is more me being nitpicky than anything else :).

Honestly, this game is really fun and I enjoyed your writing a lot :).

Thank you so much again for your feedback :) I will not be too upset about it xD. Yeah, that idea of a slower progression seems very nice and makes sense!

Next time, I will take this feedback into consideration and try to make games that introduce concepts in a more organic way to the player :).

The story in this game is awesome! The writing is really, really good! The sense that the reader is slowly being dragged into a bottomless pit is intoxicating. As the story goes on, it becomes more and more disturbing.

However, I feel like the part of graphics and interactions are somewhat lacking. The way the text is displayed resembles too much a text editor and all the options appearing at the same time on the screen make it very difficult to keep up with the story.

I feel that a small tweak, such as forcing the player to make a decision and only showing a paragraph at a time, would greatly improve the feel of this game. Because the story already does such a good job, that change would turn this into a really special game :)

The graphics of this game are pretty cool! I loved the retro Silent Hills-inspired aesthetic, with the low resolution and fixed cameras and all xD. The ambience was also great!

I had some trouble following the story, especially by the end.  At times the player speed was also a bit too slow. I think that if you tweaked the speed a bit and added some more notes scattered in the world to polish the story some more, this would be a pretty amazing game :).

Still, it was a very cool experience overall and I enjoyed it :)

Thank you so much for your feedback :). This was the first time I tried making a puzzle game, and there were many design choices that were not well-thought-out.

My idea was to show the player in the second month that when there is more than one positive property in the enigma, the player must choose a card that contains both properties simultaneously. But looking back, it becomes tough to guess that's that case  without prior knowledge since the game doesn't do much to explain that to the player.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, I now see that I should have designed the gifts differently, to express the game mechanics better to the player. I will take that feedback to heart and try to improve on the front in the next game jams I participate :)

This game is so cute :)
