Thanks for the kind words - hope you had fun playing!

Wow, that's better than I've ever done - you've beat me at my own game!

Glad you enjoyed it :)

This was a lot of fun! It feels as polished as I've come to expect from the "Penguin series".

You have to keep an eye on a lot of stuff, and the reloads add some danger and mean you can't recklessly fire missed shots all the time.

The difficulty ramp works nicely - it doesn't feel unfair, but you quickly get overwhelmed if you're not staying on top of those tanky ground troops. The best score I managed was 8,300.

I really enjoyed this one!

The controls are tight and feel great - crouching and jumping to avoid enemies feels really skilful and satisfying when you pull it off.

I liked the different enemy types too, they add a nice bit of variety. The graphics and sound come together really well to make this a very fun experience.

Great job!

A minimal but effective entry,  like if you gave Chrome's dinosaur a gun.

Feels very polished, and plenty replayable. Both shooting and dodging are quite tricky, so it's always a snap decision trying to figure out which will work - and the one-hit death means you can't hesitate too long!

This was so much fun, my favourite entry!

Graphics and particles look really good, and the audio works well. The broken pieces of asteroid and the smoke when your health is low are both cool touches!

I felt very weak at first, so the upgrade system gave a real sense of progression and building up power - making it feel very satisfying to defeat the final boss!

Great work, once again :)

I love this entry, it feels really polished! The graphics and especially audio work really well,  and the gameplay feels nice and tight. The bombs are a cool concept for if you get overwhelmed. Fantastic job!

Really cool idea - feels like a cross between Asteroids and Missile Command! The graphics work nicely too.

This is good fun! Feels like a very classic arcade game. Nice job!

This entry is really good fun, a proper classic platformer!

Everything feels really polished; the difficulty felt just right! I'm quite a fan of the "twitchy" physics (fast jumps and strong gravity), and the graphics work well with that.

The core mechanics of this game feel incredibly well-polished - the camera movement is excellent and the platforming physics are bang-on!

The difficulty curve feels really natural too. I managed to finish all of the levels without dying, so I'm proud of that :D

(Totally aside from the jam voting of course, but interesting to see this running on MRuby! I imagine that makes distribution as an executable a fair bit easier.)

Definitely on the edge of the platformer genre, but either way I really enjoyed this!

The attacking feels maybe a little too precise - your timing has to be absolutely perfect to get the two hits in to defeat an enemy - but I suppose that makes it more rewarding when you nail it.

The roguelike twist is really cool - the "Recovery" and "Double-Jump" upgrades really helped my run last a bit longer. The art style works great too.

Always glad to get another continuation of my favourite penguin story!

Like your other submissions in the past, this is incredibly well polished for a jam game! The music and graphics fit the feel of the game brilliantly.

I'll agree that the AI might be a little bit too difficult - it took me over 10 attempts to beat one of the fights, and I'm not sure how exactly my opponent was managing to hit me so often. Eventually I figured out that timing my dash to hit them while they were jumping worked pretty well!

Definitely on the verge of the "platformer" theme, but since previous submissions of yours have happened to have been platformers, I think that's fair enough!

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed the concept!

If it helps, there's a walkthrough here to help you past any levels you're stuck on (see the chapters to skip to the level you'd like):

Cool concept, I don't think I've ever played something with a control scheme quite like this :D

The physics for jumping and the "attraction" towards your cursor feel really natural, which is an impressive achievement in a bare-bones engine like Gosu. That meant that, when I fell off, it felt like my fault, rather than the game's fault, which means it's rewarding when I managed to complete a level.

With some more polish outside of the time constraints of the jam (e.g. moving onto the next level automatically), I could see this being really excellent!

I really like this idea! I love collectable card games, and I've been playing a lot of "Your Only Move is HUSTLE" which is a similar idea to this but as a fighting-game - so this is right up my alley :)

I can easily see how this could be expanded too, with more cards and more complex levels, which is always the sign of a good idea.

Thank you!

People's appearance is completely random and not related to their interests at all, though it would be a cool idea to have them be linked. Advertising increases both the number of customers in the mall, and also the percentage of those which have a particular interest (e.g. "influencers" will attract more people interested in fashion). However, this was a relatively late addition, so might not be balanced quite right!

I agree with the idea to add a door, too. Thanks for your feedback!

I really like this one! I've played a lot of Cook Serve Delicious on my phone, and this certainly made me feel the same kind of chaos when things start to get out-of-hand. Everything feels like it's going alright until I get "roof" or "garbage"!

The music and sound effects fit really well too.

It could be interesting if there was a penalty when you get a key incorrect - punishing you for getting too hasty and making typos!

This is my favourite entry to any of the Gosu Game Jams so far! The gameplay loop is fun and rewarding, the graphics work really well, and the music and sound effects are superb. Unbelievably polished for a jam submission!

I really love the continuation of the story from your other games too. Looking forward to whatever your penguins get up to next!

For any future Googlers who stumble across this thread like I did while trying to solve this problem!

I got this error when I tried to install the mod on Nuclear Throne v19, the "mods" beta branch on Steam. This mod appears to need the latest version of Nuclear Throne, not the "mods" branch like some other mods do. Open the properties for the game on Steam, go to Betas, and select "none". Then wait for Steam to finish downloading the changes, and reinstall the mod. It worked for me then!

Haha, yep, I recognised Chaos Penguin right away! Looking forward to whatever's next in the "Chaos Penguin Cinematic Universe" :P

This is easily the most polished game I've seen across both of the Gosu Game Jams so far!

The platformer gameplay feels brilliant, the art looks good, and the sounds and music work great. The boss fight was definitely my favourite part - just the right level of challenge that it was really rewarding when I beat it on my third attempt.

An excellent entry!

I absolutely love this concept and interpretation of the theme!

Having to recognise the pieces and try to lead your shots accordingly is neat, and it's very satisfying when you get it right with a trickier piece like a knight and they move right into your shot.

The music and sound work well too.

I really enjoyed this one, great stuff!

A straightforward concept which makes for a very intense and rewarding challenge!

Interestingly, I found a mouse and a trackpad had their own advantages: with my mouse I could aim easily but found it harder to flick, whereas massive flicks with a trackpad were easy but I sometimes missed the enemies I was trying to pick up. I wonder what it'd be like on a touchscreen...

It took me quite a few tries to finish the 60 seconds without my castle taking any damage, so I'd say the difficulty is just right too.

Nice work!

Thank you so much for this art!

I used it in my entry for a small jam in October, which ended up placing first: https://orangeflash81.itch.io/pet-peeve

(The cuteness of the cat was mentioned in the jam comments, and I definitely agree :D)
