Yeah, I noticed that the sound effect played anytime you clicked and not when the sword swung (it didn't swing again until the animation was complete) I didn't think it was much of a problem (especially with maybe 5 hours left in the jam), and I just got around it by not spamming. But I can totally see how a spammer could get disconnected with the attacks when the sfx is playing, but you aren't swinging. I am thrilled that you liked the overall concept and the coin dash!
The simple graphics give it a very nice charm. This game also puts your head to use, trying to find the best way to create a pattern that will do what you want. I do want to point out, though, that the buttons that move you to the right are on the left side and vice versa. And what the buttons do arent very intuitive. Also, I think it would be really helpful to be able to see the pattern that I'm making in a timeline-like thing. Overall, though, a really nice game that gives the theme a musical twist.
Overall, I think it was a cute little game and broke my heart at the end (no spoilers, but I'm in tears). The dynamic light in the cave was really neat. I'm not sure how much I liked how obscure some of the puzzles are. There was even one where you are required to press the hint button, which some people might miss just by being too stubborn to ask for a hint in a puzzle game. The controls were very unorthodox, using WASD to move and then I to shoot meant that both of my hands had to be on my keyboard, which felt a little strange. I thought it was more strange then, when the game asked me to do things with my mouse. However, I still really enjoyed the game; the pixel art is cute, the dynamic lights are a blast, and the story is gut-wrenching.
I love this approach to the theme; you could be all methodical about where you go, so the loops don't hurt you later. OR you could give it hail-marry and hope your skills are good enough to dodge yourself. Also, love the inclusion of the timer and the leaderboard. The artwork is really cute, and it all fits together beautifully.
The art style and gameplay is really unique and fun. I've always liked the flat 2D sprites in 3D environment feel, and the gameplay itself felt very reminiscent of those shooting arcade games where you defeat a wave and then the game moves you to the next area for the next wave. Unfortunately, my biggest problem is the lack of any audio :( Although still a really fun and interesting game.
I found the art and the sound effects to be very funny. I like the idea of "killing yourself" in order to place an object to do something. There were several times when I clicked to remove a boulder somewhere, forgetting that it would respawn me somewhere where I wasn't. The last level was a good challenge. One thing I did not like about the last level was how difficult some of the jumps were (specifically the jump on the top left to get to the laser). I originally used a rock to get up there, but realized a little later that my rocks were in the correct position to finish the puzzle. I think having difficult jumps would be fine if they weren't required. Maybe if you could pull off some difficult jumps, you could finish the puzzle by using fewer rocks (kinda thinking about the challenge in Portal where it challenges you to finish the room with the least amount of portals possible). Overall, though really fun game, a neat idea, and cute assets.
I completely agree with you. There was an idea to add a defense stat so that you would take less damage while large but it never got implemented. Funny enough when I was originally brainstorming this I was scared I would make being large too powerful. And yes the enemy projectiles are likely too fast to react to and with no health pickups its very punishing. Thank you very much for playing and I'm glad you did enjoy it.
Really neat! Makes your brain work similar to how it has to work when programming. It also makes you think in loops with the 'iterations" and limited space to do certain actions. Did have more struggle with the last level then I would have thought but I still thought it was really cool. I was so happy when I finished that one. Only thing I may change is that after a failed attempt your switch board isn't reset or an image of what you did, just a way to let the player know what they did and they can try to figure out why it didn't work. Amazing game though!!
I think this is really cool and sweet. I would recommend a way to tell the player what he is looking for. In the 3rd level I had no clue what do to that I just started spinning left or right and then after 360 degrees and lightly pressed up or down on the arrow keys. It doesn't have to be much a small low resolution picture or a prompt may work. Other than that really cool haven't seen anything like this before.
