Hahaha, it looks cool af! I'm sorry I wasn't able to open it and rate it :(
Great work! What did you use to make it?
I also love the sound effects :D

Thank YOU for joining and submitting your project!

God damn, what gotten into you to get such a cursed idea? :'D
Peak bad design choice. It wasn't immediately obvious that my buttons are actually working, but once I realized that I was just amazed with pure impracticality of the whole thing.

You really nailed this challenge. It's exactly the kind of creativity and bad design choice I wanted to see. It's among my favorite submissions of this challenge. Really memorable :)

Thank you so much for putting in the time to work on this and to participate in my little challenge. Great work. Cheers! <3

Unfortunately I had problems running this on my Linux machine under Proton :(
I can get it up and running, but it seems glitched out and I'm not sure if it's working the way it's supposed to.

It looks SUPER fun and I'm so sorry I can't run it. I'd love to see some kind of demo video of how it works, if you could post one, that would be great!

You redefined the word "bad" for me. :'D

What in the HELL was this even? :'D I really giggled. NO WAY I could've selected my color of choice. Microsoft Paint font in which letters are written is a work of art truly.
I loved how straight to the point and self explanatory it was.

Amazing work, truly horrific. Thank you so much for your submission <3

Oh wow. You truly spawned something purely evil right there.

Even though I can really see your malicious intent behind it, I simply can't help it but to get pissed off. It was IMPOSSIBLE. Worst part about it was the moving submit button which RESETS IF I MISS IT. Too much for me to bear. I just gave up at some point.

Great job. Great idea. Nicely done.
Thank you for taking your time to submit this to my little challenge <3

W O W.
This was an unexpected submission and it caught me off guard. Such a wonderful idea. Brilliant even!

I'd love to hear more about how it works under the hood. What did you use to make this?

I loved it... Or to stay in touch with the jam theme, I HATED it. It was nearly impossible to use and select my desired color.

This gets max rating from me. Amazing work. Exactly the type of creativity  I wanted to see. Beautiful <3

Unfortunately, I faced the same exact issue when trying to run it T.T

I am on Linux trying to run this through Wine / Proton, but getting the same error. I'd love to see how it looks like and how it works. It would be awesome if you could post like a short demo video or something!

I don't want to spoil anyone's experience by talking about it too much.

I absolutely loved it. Super fun and well written. Thank you!

Everyone should give this a try! Awesome work.

Ummmm, what just happened? :'D

I guess God spoke to me through the shader effects and I managed to pick my desired color SOMEHOW.
As much as I understood, each square controls each color channel, and slider on the left that is ANNOYINGLY moving by itself, decides how much influence it has, right?

Anyways, this was super interesting to see, I loved the shader effects, truly mesmerizing. It was at the just the right sweetspot of having my desired color RIGHT THERE slightly out of reach and annoyingly preventing me from precisely selecting it.

I loved, or rather HATED your color picker. Thank you so much for the submission Tomster. I appreciate you taking your time to make something and participate in my challenge. Awesome work <3

"Slightly", huh?

I wasn't patient enough to endure the torture. No way I'm selecting the target color, nor my color of choice :D

I honestly don't have much else to say, other than this being absolutely amazing and that everyone should give this a try.
Maximum rating from me, thank you so much for submitting and participating in my little challenge <3

Woah! What a wonderful piece of art <3

Extremely creative indeed. It's a literal game! Annoying ass confirmation screens were horrible. I did get stressed out and the game really draws you in. The worst is once I run away, find my color but I get caught because of the fcking confirmation screen :'D

Maximum rating from me! 10/10. Amazing work!

Fun idea! It was interesting to explore!

What made it worse for me, I'm kinda an RGB guy, so doing everything in HSL certainly was annoying :D
It's super cool that wave itself is colored, but it was a bit harder to see, I have to admit.

But anyways, an interesting idea and I'm super grateful for your submission! Cheers!

Absolutely no idea what just happened, what did I just use? :'D

Completely impractical, ruined my evening, super annoying. I hate the way their hunger goes down and how slowly they move.

I was lucky that my desired color is orange-ish, so I WAS able to get close to it. But getting to pink is just a disaster.

Awesome job, thank you for participating in my little challenge! <3

Thanks, I hate it.......

It was ABSOLUTELY not fun indeed. :D
I was a little confused about how it works at first, but got the hang of it once I tried the debug mode.

Ain't no way I'm using this until I get my desired color of choice.... Totally horrible so... you did GREAT! Good job and thank you so much for your submission <3

Very evil of you indeed!

Great idea overall! Constantly switching and channels running away from you was pretty annoying! But I have to admit, at the end I realized I could just adjust the sliders in the right positions and then wait for them to accidentally roll in the right order which wasn't so bad. Odds of that happening are relatively high.

So simply for that reason I have to give you slightly lower rating.

But overall it is a great idea and I appreciate the work you put into it. Thank you so much for your submission!

Nah, life's too short, I'm not playing this until I get my color of choice :'D

This is an amazing submission! Super impractical, almost impossible, stuff I want is perfectly out of reach. I see it and then this LITTLE ASS moves my sliders. On top of that I was totally confused because I'm not sure what am I controlling even? Do the sliders switch to a different channel each turn?

I still don't fully grasp it...100% annoying. You really managed to piss me off :D

Your color picker was truly horrible. Thank you for participating and submitting your work <3

This was just insane....

I thought I was a smartass when I found an online tool to repeat my words desired number of times. I was rubbing my hands thinking "pfff, easy". But then I got "no pasting >:)".

Literally Satan spawn. I ended up MANUALLY TYPING:
"red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red  red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red red green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green green"

I know I could've calculated the ratio between red and green and what not, but I was just pissed and had to get it out somehow and cool off :'D

Anyways, you did an amazing work, great submission! Thank you so much for participating <3

This is the level of creativity I wanted to see! :D
I loved seeing voice input, because that's super similar to what I built. I also liked the fact that I couldn't just yell at my mic (since I was aiming for max value), but rather I have to keep it in some range which was hard to be precise about.

Picking a color based on ASCII character was diabolical. Had me checking up the ASCII table and my desired color was some weird ass character I've never seen before, I laughed super hard :'D

Placing a bet on the blue is super funny, but I was lucky enough not to use any blue in my color of choice.

Pumping for alpha? WHAT?

Overall, I lov... uh, I mean, I hated it. Truly horrible, evil and impractical.
Thank you for submitting this awesome project and thank you for participating in my little challenge <3

I absolutely hated this! :D

It gives me the illusion of "control" by allowing me to adjust individual channels. But only by RANDOMIZING THEM. Really terrible....

Great submission, thank you for participating in the challenge <3

My only problem with this was that it was ACTUALLY FUN :'D

I enjoyed shooting hoops! Really nicely done. It's a really impractical system for picking a color :'D
I'm not sure is there a way to be more specific about the color I'm choosing or do they constantly increase by 1?

Also, I read your comments about some performance issues, I have to say I experienced none on the web. Not sure if you updated it or something, but for me it was smooth!

Anyways, great job and great work! I appreciate your participation in my little challenge <3

What a clean execution.

The scope dragging behind, The gravity pulling the bullet down over distance. The WIND? Amazing work.
I also loved the way you limit the possibility of spamming nearby shots, by forcing the user to shoot at the buttons below.

I didn't have enough patience to keep trying to select my specific color of choice, so I gave up at some point. But it was truly a great idea, clean execution and overall amazing job.
Thank you for your submission <3

Hahahahaha, what a fun idea :D

Black and white color picker didn't seem like a possibility in my head. I have no idea where did you channel this idea from :'D

I gave it a slightly lower score, just because I can still see all the values, and selecting my color of choice wasn't hard nor annoying. The fact that I couldn't SEE IT was horrific though :D

Great idea, really put a smile on my face when I realized what's it about. Awesome submission <3

I don't want to ruin anything with my poor descriptions. Words are not enough to describe this masterpiece.

If anyone is reading this, just play it. Truly a work of art. :)

It really made me laugh multiple times. I loved your sense of humor. I may have missed the crap out of my shots, but you did the exact opposite. You hit a bull's eye of this challenge.

Thank you so much for participating. I'm extremely grateful for your submission. Amazing work. Amazing humor. Amazing idea. 10/10 for me.

This color picker gets an all 5 star rating from me!!

When I was just skimming through submissions, I've seen this and I was just like... hm, okay, interesting.
But only once I properly sat down, fully focused and tried to select a one specific color was I revealed the pure malicious intent behind it.

I have no idea how it actually works, how much do the handles oscillate, or how much do they influence each other. Not sure if I'd be able to be more precise if I understood the specifics of the system.

But oh my god was it annoying. You really want reach out to get the hammer when you need it the most, but ofcourse, you can't use both at the same time :)

I can't describe how pissed I felt. I wanted to use left and right click at the same time to like hold it and nail it down at a specific slot, or to like release it and run to grab a hammer as fast as I can... But you made it impossible. :'D

Truly horrible. My desired color was just there, out of reach. I could see it if I hold it with my mouse. But as soon as I release it it jumps somewhere, and I can't nail it down at the proper spot. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

Really good job, you nailed the challenge and I'm very grateful for you submission. Truly great work!

I had to give it 5 on evilness because gambling is addictive and evil!! :D

Purely luck based. I have no idea why I kept trying for so long. I was constantly like "here we go, next one is mine 100%".
On top of that... target color: "green"... "GREEN"? Thanks! That narrows it down :D

Somehow, I got somewhat close to my desired color once, so that kept me going. I tried and tried but just gave up at some point.
I love the way the colors were randomly selected strips of values on the rotating wheels.

Overall, it was super fun and it's a cool idea. Thank you for participating and annoying me with your horrible design!

First of all, it was very stylish and I loved the aesthetic, from the splash screen to the color picker itself.

But it was horrible to use. And it was very hard to select my desired color. I only got close to it, ain't no way for me to precisely select it :'D

The way the total is "shared", meaning if I collect enough of red, and then the red starts going down once I start collecting green, was just HORRIBLE. Truly malicious.
Another great thing I'd like to point out is the amount of focus it takes. I'm constantly on edge, totally in the zone. Watching channel levels, focusing on collecting drops while also checking the "next" drop and planning my next move. So once I miss something or fail to do something, it pisses me off even more because I was so into it :D

Fantastic job, I absolutely hated your color picker. Thank you for participating in my humble little challenge <3

This gets an All 5 star rating from me! Ticks all the boxes.

At first I was confused... what am I even looking at? Then the buttons started falling off. Then they started MOVING.... wait are they also SWITCHING WHILE THEY ARE MOVING? Oh but nonono, not just a few rows, now the whole GRID IS MOVING AND BLINKING, GOOD LUCK.... All that while we are not even REMOTELY close to my desired color, even though I was promised 4x better results by the "Color Zone System".. :')

I couldn't take it anymore, but I'm not sure does it get even worse after that point. Hopefully not, I think it's as bad as it can get already :D

Amazing job, you 100% nailed the challenge. I absolutely hate your color picker. Thank you for participating in the challenge <3

You're really going to make the color order on the left side: Blue, Red, Green. What are you, Satan?

Selecting my specific color of choice was an unforgiving, painful process. I had to come up with 2 strats:
1. The most specific channel goes first, so if I mess up restart doesn't hurt me as much
2. Forbidden quick mouse flick technique, where I just quickly flick my mouse near the edge/corner of the box so I only increase it's value for like 2 or in some lucky cases 1.

I absolutely hated using it and the pain forced me to develop new techniques and think about my strategies. Also, I appreciate the impracticality and annoyance level you were able to reach with such a simple and straightforward design.

Great job overall! I'll consider forgiving you for making me use it :)

It was a lot harder than I expected T.T

I tried and tried, but there was no way to select my desired color :')

Weird web edutainment 2000's game vibe was SPOT ON. It really DID feel like a weird flash game I stumbled upon my old ass mom's laptop in like 2006.

Awesome job and thank you for participating in the challenge! <3

Oh wow, what an amazing idea!
It really got me feeling super nostalgic, such a throwback to like more than a decade ago when I was a kid and just spammed poor Akinator with most random characters to see his limits :D

I never thought about it since I went into programming, so it got me thinking about the way it was executed. I'd be very interested to hear about your experience and design that went into this. It's interesting to think about because it literally seemed magical when I was a kid, but now thinking about it I can almost guess the way it deduces and doesn't seem that magical anymore :D

Small complaint: Very frequently, it was repeating the same questions. And some questions seem a bit odd. I gave it multiple attempts and I wasn't able to make him guess that my color is orange. But very easily he guessed my girlfriend's color which was dark blue if I remember correctly!

Regardless, this was super fun to try out and it's a WONDERFUL idea which hit a strange place in my memory. I'm super grateful for it, great job! <3

Ah, classic. Exactly what I was hoping to see :')

Totally mischievous. I absolutely hated selecting my desired color. It took so much time. I lost count countless times and had to scroll back up each time to check where I'm at.
On top of that, checkboxes are TINY, so it's not super easy to quickly click through all of them. And I get pissed that much more if I miss one and fall out of my "rythm".

A simple design which managed to be overly impractical, which is something I truly appreciate. Great job, you nailed this challenge!

100%. Feel free to do so!

Impracticality -> How hard it was to use

Annoyance -> How annoyed you felt. It's purely subjective

Evilness -> If it has elements with literal malicious intent to work against you

Confusion -> If it was hard to understand.

Pain level felt while using -> Again, purely subjective. But significantly different from annoyance.

The higher the score -> the worse it is. The worse it is -> the better.
So yeah, basically all of those are negative characteristics and it's supposed to be as negative as possible. As you said, it's just the whole joke, to be completely opposite of regular competition where you judge by "greatness".

Hey!

Well honestly, I just mistakenly put the wrong end submission date. It was meant to last for the whole weekend, but I accidentally typed in 12:00 AM on Sunday instead of 23:59 PM on Sunday (my local time). And I just pushed it back once I realized it.

I didn't bother notifying for 2 main reasons:
1. Not sure where and how? Almost noone joined the Discord server I created
2. It's not like I was cutting away time from the jam. I was adding MORE time, I had no idea anyone would complain about getting more time.

So I dunno, it's 100% my fault, but I'm not sure why you're upset? I wouldn't say it's unfair for multiple different reasons:
- First ever announcement was ~7 days before the jam actually started.  And everyone was open to start working on their projects immediately. So if some people seen it as soon as it was announced, that means they had more than 7 days to work on this. You're complaining about 12 extra hours of "advantage" some people might had, but actually some people had 168 extra hours of "advantage". Competing against others is not even the purpose here. It's just meant to be silly, and a small "tool" project, not even a full game. So I never expected anyone to put more than a few hours into this
- It's not sponsored, and I'm broke. There are no real rewards nor accolades. "Winning" or "having an advantage" serve no purpose whatsoever
- Deadline was literally arbitrary. I don't care too much about it and it doesn't even matter at all. If you want me to reopen the submissions for you to update your color picker, I can 100% do that
- I'm literally just a random dude, running a first jam ever, which was supposed to be little, fun and short

Basically I can take the full blame and I'm sorry you got frustrated, so as I said, if you want to update or resubmit, feel free to let me know and I'll do that.

Regarding the criteria, honestly none of the "important" things you've listed seem important to me for this jam. I don't appreciate you telling me how to do stuff or what to list as criteria options. Sorry to sound like an ass, but if that's the criteria you want to see, you can always NOT participate, or just create your own jam under your own terms.

I just feel like you are taking all of this a bit too serious. You expected a great organization, proper criteria, "comparison" of projects, determining the "winner" of the jam etc. etc.
Sorry for not meeting your expectations or for letting you down, but you need to understand this for what it truly is: A VERY small and short jam, ran by a singular broke dude for funzies who expected to get like 2 submissions total. It's not a sponsored large scale professional project with an organized team.

Don't let the rules limit your ideas and creativity. Just go with whatever you had in mind, it's all fine! :)

First of all sorry for your eyes :( :D

Thank you for your kind words and for checking out our game!

Woah, thank you for such a detailed breakdown! First of all, we are glad you like our game and it's graphics, cause we really did put a lot of effort into it :D
All of your suggestions are totally valid and we will handle those issues within the next patch. Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed review, we appreciate it!

Thank you for checking out the game and for your feedback!

Thank you!
