Hey!
Well honestly, I just mistakenly put the wrong end submission date. It was meant to last for the whole weekend, but I accidentally typed in 12:00 AM on Sunday instead of 23:59 PM on Sunday (my local time). And I just pushed it back once I realized it.
I didn't bother notifying for 2 main reasons:
1. Not sure where and how? Almost noone joined the Discord server I created
2. It's not like I was cutting away time from the jam. I was adding MORE time, I had no idea anyone would complain about getting more time.
So I dunno, it's 100% my fault, but I'm not sure why you're upset? I wouldn't say it's unfair for multiple different reasons:
- First ever announcement was ~7 days before the jam actually started. And everyone was open to start working on their projects immediately. So if some people seen it as soon as it was announced, that means they had more than 7 days to work on this. You're complaining about 12 extra hours of "advantage" some people might had, but actually some people had 168 extra hours of "advantage". Competing against others is not even the purpose here. It's just meant to be silly, and a small "tool" project, not even a full game. So I never expected anyone to put more than a few hours into this
- It's not sponsored, and I'm broke. There are no real rewards nor accolades. "Winning" or "having an advantage" serve no purpose whatsoever
- Deadline was literally arbitrary. I don't care too much about it and it doesn't even matter at all. If you want me to reopen the submissions for you to update your color picker, I can 100% do that
- I'm literally just a random dude, running a first jam ever, which was supposed to be little, fun and short
Basically I can take the full blame and I'm sorry you got frustrated, so as I said, if you want to update or resubmit, feel free to let me know and I'll do that.
Regarding the criteria, honestly none of the "important" things you've listed seem important to me for this jam. I don't appreciate you telling me how to do stuff or what to list as criteria options. Sorry to sound like an ass, but if that's the criteria you want to see, you can always NOT participate, or just create your own jam under your own terms.
I just feel like you are taking all of this a bit too serious. You expected a great organization, proper criteria, "comparison" of projects, determining the "winner" of the jam etc. etc.
Sorry for not meeting your expectations or for letting you down, but you need to understand this for what it truly is: A VERY small and short jam, ran by a singular broke dude for funzies who expected to get like 2 submissions total. It's not a sponsored large scale professional project with an organized team.
