Controls are good and has a good art style. Just some thoughts here if you ever continue developing it.

  • maybe tone down the feedback on the flashes
  • not much incentive on combat
  • good 3 levels and great one for a 50 hour jam game

Thanks! Maybe 10 seconds was too little a time. :)

Thanks! I should have added the time as a difficulty curve but I guess for now it will stay. :)

The indirect control is good. The delay when you send data to the rover is just right. I have not found water yet and the random map is also good. Nice one!

You gotta like the minimalistice style of the game. Although some people might fail on number 0 :)

Initial build for the backtrace jam. Hopefully another incoming

A nice short game to raise awareness! and the mood of the environment was good too. Good job making this within 48 hours.

I like the concept of letting your people vote for which building to make. neat idea.

Binary Towers is a game made for GTMK Game Jam 2020 with the theme "Out Of Control"

The game is a tower defense game where you have no control on the placement of the towers. The only control you have is the binary digits at the bottom right of the screen. At every wave the placement of the towers are also out of your control.

Have fun defending!

Version 1

- Game without tower upgradee

Version 1.1

- Game with tower upgrades

This is very well executed. I don't even need to complete all levels. More polish and more levels and its a game you can release. As for the jam

Theme: 1 star

Idea: 1 star

Design; 1 star

Execution: 1 star

Mine: 1 star

5 Stars total

Pretty solid concept! I have played games that did adhere to the theme and I found the ones that do are hard to master and this is one of them. just the additional of the other enemy made it hard already. Good Job!

Nicely done! Good Design and adherence to the theme but it will take skill to complete. seems to be the price that comes when you execute the theme nicely.

This is good. Good introduction of commands too. I say work more on player feel feedback but good job for a  weekend jam.

Pretty smooth game! Although it does take skill to survive. You can certainly update this game to have upgrades and more enemy type and that will add more replayability. I may have found a dominant strategy but it still takes getting used to it to abuse it. All in all good design and adherence to the theme.

Hey Mister Allan Bays! Alright! I've played the game and here's my take.

The Deep

It's a straight up adventure RPG and due to time constraints it need to be dialed down a notch, I understand that part. I liked it or what I've played of it so far. I got stuck after I met The Business Guy 'Rand'. I didn't know what to do. Here's the breakdown.

Pros:

- Good story, I encourage you expand the story to full game.

- Good characters, maybe a little more development on them but I liked them as it is because personalities did come up upon just meeting them.

- Battles seem to be balanced enough to make the game shorter.

- Pretty good start for a months worth of development or should I say less than that because you were busy IRL. :)

Cons:

- Mapping. Since it's your first time using MV, this is understandable. There are bugs on mapping but that's ok. I have some too. :)

- Maybe a reminder of what the player is currently pursuing because it can be forgotten really quickly. Like a quest log for example.

Other than those good job Mister Allan Bays! You have something here so stick with it and most importantly release it. :)

thanks for the review Mister Allan Bays. I'm the middle of playing your game to. I should have it by Friday. :)

Thanks Rhino! for giving it another try. And also for finding out some bugs. I do agree with you that RPG Maker games that uses default rtp is only looked over once by alot of people (devs/players alike), that's why its going to be a really hard challenge to have people look at a game that uses the default rtp.  I can edit the assets up to a certain point but i'm not an artist so default ones that came with the engine is really great for me. my focus is on gameplay and I believe if you have a solid gameplay even with bad graphics your game will still be great. although visual appeal can't be denied.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, ill add the game into the secret santa list as you mentioned but I probably won't be touching the game anymore. I will look and fix for bugs, do some balances and re-release it by this month then move on to the next game that I will release next month. I will be doing a few games under the title of Default Fantasy with each focusing on different game mechanic and this was a great opportunity to start on it. :)

I forgot to mention it on the guide but ill mention it here as a reply to your feedback. You can escape the fights by pressing x. You can escape monsters but not the soldier and captain. Thanks again for playing!

Wow! Somebody has played it and posted a comment! First off, Thanks for playing it :)

I was thinking that a walkthrough might remove the fun from players discovering what they can do in the game but in reading your comment maybe a few extra help or an explanation of what players can do in game maybe helpful.

Maybe i'll add in a strategy guide or a mechanics explanation somewhere. I'll update once I've added a guide somewhere, please do play it again after when you have a chance. Thanks!
