thank you for the feedback, I didn't even consider making items selectable from the keyboard good idea.

I don't believe the shop was implemented the last DD I played very cool to see them working now.

I think the best feedback I could think of to make it better right now is sound effects, when you swing your sword and when you hit enemy's It needs more impact.

let me know if you want me to test something specific and ill play again later today today

I think there's lots of cool ideas and potential with this game, even though its pretty bare bones right now I was getting into the groove of running the shop then go to dungeon.

issues-

when I first got to the dungeon there was a framerate stutter only happened once then never again

the was some soup stuck on the floor after the first day I could not pick up

I think there needs to be a mechanic that incentivizes the player to trade with customers, because when people came in trying to sell me stuff I would just offer them $0 to make them leave, I think part of it was the dungeon giving me so much stuff.

also took me a while to figure out how to barter on price I might have not read some text somewhere

positives-

I like the western aesthetic I think If you make it so that stuff is kind of made out of the monsters in the dungeon it would have a cool fantasy flare

It would be cool if there where pets that have one use in the shop and a different use in the dungeon, like a slime that cleans up the floor in the shop then finds rare items in the dungeon.

Presentation is very nice I lice that its more on the dark side visually

thank you for the feedback, I see even without the bugs it's not intuitive what was happening

I will probably by it for myself for Christmas thanks for the recommendation, apparently sdl3 is switching  stuff up I haven't left sdl2 yet

was not expecting the difficulty of the mini games ended up having to focus to beat them (I like it  would be boring without difficulty)

I like that its kind of mini games mixed with mini story's gives each one a little more uniqueness

cool to see your using sdl like me I'm curious if our code looks similar, I used lazyfoo tutorials and I'm like 5000 lines deep in one file right now

I will say the target shooting game had black text on a pure white screen and it blinded me

I think I know how to make this better thank you for the feedback

sorry it took so long to return feedback, smacked goblins around for like 20 minutes.

If this is the same game I'm thinking of from many DD's ago you have made some crazy progress.

when I first booted it up for a second, I thought the art style was old school RuneScape but dark and gritty if that's what you're going for I would lean into it because I don't think I've seen anyone do it before.

I see someone else complained about resolution resizing so I won't point it out.

I have played diablo one and two and a game called fate long ago that are all this type of game I think you have the right idea focusing on loot because all those games were too I feel like this game needs something to separate from the others I've played though like fate let you have a pet that you could transform and diablo had the dark atmosphere. I feel like the loot getting thrown up in the air after you kill an enemy could be turned into something, like the player has to catch the loot to keep it maybe the whole town is obsessed with loot and uses it to build up the town idk just spit balling ideas.

I don't think I found any bugs others haven't found

your right on it being a survivors game mixed with Risk of Rain,  your right its very rough thank you for the feedback going to prioritize making everything more understandable.

always see you posting progress cool to see how much you made, I have never played a mech game before so I cant think of anything to compare it to / don't know what is considered good in the genre. I like the handmade anime portraits, I also like how you mixed up some big open environments and dark claustrophobic ones. I only played through 5 or 6 levels I feel like there should be more enemy movement patterns/ attack types, like a fast enemy that try's to circle around you to shoot you in the back or a mech that's like a sniper and you have to avoid there targeting system. Very cool game lots of cool things you could do with it

very interesting game I don't think I've played this on any of the other DD, I like the music and the more laid-back relaxing kind of gameplay I think you're going for. I do not know if I'm the target audience for this kind of game but my brain immediately wants to be able to decorate/ reorganize the little cafe and make it my own, maybe adopt a local stray cat and have it hang out in the cafe. I'm not going lie I want to be able to play as a boy, also no curly long hair option to match my hair.

thank you ill make it better, its hard to tell but the first two buttons make your starting weapon shoot more

only played through the first puzzle and looked around I'm short on time right now so I might play more later

the art and style are awesome I can pretty much tell immediately if something is a clue or not I will say I think the blue boxes you fill your answers in should be like little torn scraps of notebook paper or something

also when going through dialog I feel like there should be a button to go back to the main dialog options (there might be one already sorry if I missed it)

this games super cool keep up the good work

did the first three quest kids ball, cocaine elf, and one for the crying guy no bugs

art direction is very unique I think I would call it grunge but that might not be the word

I like that the story is introspective and seems personal it seems like your going through the programmers emotional and creative past and its an intimate kind of story.

I feel like the combat needs something im not sure what, the animations feel good  and energetic but normal rpg combat feels to plain for something with this much character

yea the camera only has 3 speeds, next demo day hopefully it will be more like a real game

nice very cool, clerics are op! took me a little while to understand exp was limiting how many characters I could have also im thinking the little waiting area outside the arena is to swap out team members for strategy purposes?

I think this is a cool idea and it could have a lot of depth if you could customize characters and have different strengths and weaknesses

getting tunnel vision looking for  cards to pick

awesome idea for a game played 3 rounds there's lots cool stuff you can add and its already got addictiveness just the way it is

very fun and polished very satisfying moving the cards round and making moves, did not take to long to learn how it works.

not sure if this is a problem but I kept getting locked in and didn't use my skills

(1 edit)

ran into a bug on the second battle that just made combat stop, music kept playing and animations, but no one took their next turn, last thing that happened was my sword guy had no target.

I like this game idea a lot its like a better version of my last game, I like the chunky sprites mixed with the 3d backgrounds, lots of cool stuff you could add.

main criticism besides the bug is the music is a little too loud

thank you for the feedback, the last pink square will eventually be the portal that takes you to the next level

happy 4th

test prototype for my new project meant to be a clone of risk of rain one with a twist and better movement

down button interacts

attacks are automatic

arrow buttons are the controls

give me any and all feedback/ ideas you have I want this game to be good one day

I haven't tried yet (i hope sdl makes it easy)

ill look into it for you

ok i like the theme and the style your going for but i had to try this a few times to wrap my head around what was happening, my understanding is that each planet has resources, and you have options to manipulate them with the goal of raising their value.

I tried to play yesterday after work  but I bounced off of it hard I think you need to be very genital easing the player in like first give them a planet where all they have to do is merge resources then sell them(I could not figure out how to sell things yesterday) then give them a planet with two more options like the resource drill, you know what i mean.

once I understood I did start having fun it kind of reminds me of that board game catan and I got in the zone a little which was nice.

sorry i didn't play while DD was still on brother

a very cool game, i think it is a good idea how you made the background get darker during the more intense parts of the first fight it made seeing the bullets much easier, during the second stage the ice bullets were blending in a little with the background.

I like that the characters look cute but are kind if violent lol an interesting contrast

the hit box for your character is much smaller than the sprite which I think is good in this kind of game but I had a hard time judging what would hit me, I think if you made the character darker but gave them a bright necklace or something where the hitbox is it would be useful

it took me a little bit to finger out that the spinning cube was a shield but once i did it was very cool and i liked using it

also nice to see a fellow high iq SDL2 chad!

thank you for the feedback , I'm trying to find ways to make it more user friendly right now.  your right about the line breaks  I don't know how I didn't notice how unreadable that is lol.

:3

thank you for posting that video brother even without sound I see exactly what the problem is the player is getting lost in the UI mess. I think I know how to make it better.

thank you for trying ,  ill make it better.

ok ill watch it

very nice, this game is right up my ally it reminds me of the first animal crossing for some reason. I think the guy who made it said he was inspired by moving to a new place and being lonely.

this was a very cool demo i liked that running over the guys sent them flying and the bigger guns were very cool, I have not played any tank games before so I don't know if this is meant to be more realistic or cartoony but it seems pretty good so far.

I don't think the frame rate was automatically capped so my pc spun up a bit. also the edges of ramps were a little sticky i feel like the tank should definitely go over small bumps like that

i do not play platformers  but this seemed really good to me very clean and professional i liked it a lot, i don't know what would make it better maybe collectables? or if you die you leave some kind of mark.

im going to fix this right now

thank you

the aesthetic and vibe are perfect very comfy and a little sad, very cool that you get animal friends joining you over time too.

didn't find any bugs or anything

It would be cool if you friends had like a want/ need system that changed them, like if one likes to play instruments and you build them a guitar they sat and played it once in a while

your right i had an oversight, they don't heal in town( my bad)

thank you for the feedback

working on a hotfix right now

thank you for the feedback

yea i think the particles were the problem

i played in full screen mode its ok

(1 edit)

i liked the light mechanic

was a little thrown off by how small your hitbox is but i got used to it, I think the visual effect on death needs to be toned down a little i found myself waiting for it to end before trying the level again

(1 edit)

a very nice first game

can i put a reference to your little yellow guy in my game?

lots of style in this game I think I remember trying it a long time ago I especially like the little alien language on some of the buttons

I feel like visually its a little overwhelming, its good that the first few fights are super easy so you can get used to it
