Thank you so much for taking the time to check out StoryPlay! Your feedback is very helpful, and I totally relate to your complaints.
I’m shocked that Twine doesn’t search all your blocks/nodes when you edit something as fundamental as a character name, that’s crazy.
And I agree, that it would help to have a start blank option rather than always loading with an example story.
I will work on getting a video tutorial up ASAP!
I don’t use Figma (being in web design for so long makes it feel like a redundant tool most of the time for me) all the images were made with ChatGPT, but we have a pretty good rapport after two years of deep conversations. It’s gotten much better at making graphics I like or that fit my style than it was just a year ago.

I’d love to get feedback from users who create interactive fiction games or branching narrative stories.
StoryPlay is a work in progress, but I could really use some actual user feedback so I know what features to prioritize.

Has anyone here used Twine to create branching narratives or interactive fiction games?
I tried using it years ago but found it a bit clunky.
About six months ago, I thought I would set out to build an alternative tool that was more visual and could be used right in the browser.
Full disclosure: I do not have a background in coding or development and I have been using AI tools to assist in my projects.
StoryPlay has been the most involved and challenging project I’ve collaborated on with AI.
I may not have fully appreciated just how big of a commitment a project of this scope would inevitably demand when I casually threw the idea out there.
But at this point, I’m all in. I’ve invested tons of time and effort into StoryPlay at this point.
I would love to hear from people who have tried similar tools to see how mine compares.
I’d be interested in things like:
- How easy or difficult is it to navigate the editor?
- How does it compare to a tool like Twine or any others you’ve used?
- What did you like about it (if anything) and what did you hate?
- After trying it out, would you be willing to use it again in the future?
- What should I focus on improving or adding next?
Loved this! However, the text in certain parts went by way faster than in other parts…so much so, that I couldn’t read several of the sections before the next one popped up. I feel like an arrow to move to the next block of text when the player is ready might be more suitable here. Or just slow it down and make it equal. Great game, thank you!
Thanks for sharing this, I love it! One way to simplify the statistics/insights for players may be to like, color code all of the flags in a spreadsheet by their shared themes. So maybe all the flags (regardless of color) that share a theme of “financial stability” are colored green, for example. Then, all you’d have to do is add up the totals for each theme for the player and then you could just show them the results.
So it might say something like: You’ve passed on people with money related red flags most often. Or, you’ve smashed people with cooking and food-related green flags most often.
Great game, even if I suck at it! Love this. I’ll have to try some of the tips left below and see if I can do better with those in mind. Also wanted to thank you for keeping in mind players who might not have the latest and greatest graphic cards, and for making it playable “even on a toaster,” which was hilarious and made me laugh.

I love sandbox games like this where you get to decorate interiors. I feel like you guys added just the right number of different furniture pieces, accessories and other variations to give this a great replay value.
Only real complaint is that I wish the backspace would undo last item placed, as it only removes if you haven’t yet placed the item.

Great game! I’m a huge fan of the old Diner Dash games, so this was right up my alley. I did want to let you know that there seems to be a bug, although I’m not sure what triggers it. I had made it pretty far…unlocked the nuggets and tacos and most of the other upgrades, but then customers who came in were not able to be seated because one from their party got stuck in a corner and just kept trying to walk…so they could never order or leave. :-(
This is a really fun concept! I enjoyed playing this a lot, the only thing that took away from the experience is that the layout/background is, for some reason, draggable. This made it very difficut (or in some cases, impossible) to see the orders at the top of the screen at the same time. I kept having to scroll up in order to deliver them, even if I had already prepared the drink they ordered (attempted to stock up on each drink type). Also, when I tried to play it on my laptop, it was basically not playable. Better experience on my desktop. I think with a little tweaking, this will be a winner. Or maybe there is a more optimal way to play on my end, not sure.
I think I’m in love with the creator of this game, whoever they are…

It’s not often I find a game made with Twine that works this well. Yes, it is short and sweet, but man…as a huge fan of rant-style writing that is heavy on negativity and profanity, this hit the spot for me.
I absolutely love the ending…I’m sooooooooo anti-capitalism.

I absolutely love the aesthetic of the artwork in this game. The fashion options are gorgeous, the customization options allow for so many different possible outfits! Finding the little bugs adds a nice touch, like you took the process of making this seriously and it shows. I love that you can also dress the mouse! Thank you for sharing this, please make more games like this one!
