Hi there, I'm the musician for this game! Thanks so much for playing, and I'm glad you loved the music!

Ooh, I feel like I could run to this in real life. The tempo's pretty on point. Oooh that instrument at 1:19 is groovy, almost spooky. It fits really well with the track.

Hi there! I listened to your piece! I think the shaker thing in the front in the beginning section is just *very slightly* too loud. I could be wrong, but it felt a tiny bit too distracting for me. Really loved the section after that though. Love the choir, very smart. Very varied arrangement, which I felt particularly at 2:45 when everything comes back in and all the rhythms and melodies are playing nicely off each other.

Overall, quite an enjoyable track, and definitely feels like it's underwater, and also feels like it's in a cavern because of all the reverb. Nice job!

Ah, tragic irony. Thank you for the feedback, and I'm glad it still at least feels underwater-y.

I'm so excited to finally have a game jam exclusive to music!!! There aren't enough of these out there, so I will definitely be joining this one!

Hey, I liked this little clicker!

  • I like how you can set up auto dice, and I like how they spawn in random areas and each have their own buttons for adding sides.
  • I thought it was funny that the die goes higher than 6.
  • I also like the numbers rising and smoothly fading out. There's some good game feel here.
  • Tiny nitpick: The die sprite for the number one has a bigger black dot than all the other dots in the other sprites, so it's jarring when you're clicking quickly and the size of the dots keeps changing.

Even regardless of this, I think you have a shot at being the winning entry! I've listened to the track about 5-10 times now, I was listening to it on repeat.

Hey, thanks for your feedback!

I wanted it to feel sudden, because I love it when songs make a rule then immediately break it.

I'm so happy you like the mixing, and that you think it feels like a pinball city.

Yeah the 0:28 swirling part is a unique bit of percussion I found in a kit called 'Ultimate Boom Bap Kit'. I made it swirl by fading the panning from right to left.

I'm quite proud of the trumpet melody, so the comparison to Animal Crossing is amazing to hear - I'm glad you caught the wacky vibe.

You're welcome!

Yes, I wanted to include the serene bit so that I could come in hard with the beat

Yeah the detuned-trumpet type sound is an acquired taste hehe

Glad you like the little digital sound though

Thank you for your feedback!

Oh wow, thanks so much!!

  • Love the explosive start at around 0:21
  • Absolutely love the instrument starting at 0:32 and lasting about 10 seconds
  • The bongos are great and they make me think of a jungle
  • Like others have said, the percussion is excellent

The music sounds like it came from a professional composer. I've scored you highly on everything. I've now listened to it three times. :D

Ooooooh groovy, i can sort of see this being played in a plaza, or in a video game trailer that shows multiple locations in the game, the plaza being one of them

The full section a minute in is mind-blowingly good, and then the horns right after has an amazing melody, and the quick little bass break is a good choice after the fuller section

The beginning of the first track sounds cool, I love the snare that comes in, sounds so clean

I really love the second track especially, lots of great synth work, and the really light glass-piano type instrument in the middle definitely complements the vibe really well

The percussion moment just before the middle of the third track is a really cool touch

All the tracks feel like they're part of the same cohesive album, so good job there

Love the chattering noises, especially how some of them sound more digital than human, really sells the futuristic city vibe.

Oh, awesome!! Thank you for that compliment!

Thanks! Yes, there's a sort of cracking/clicking sound that plays twice in the left ear, and then the "reloading" sound plays. The percussion is just various samples from a boom bap kit, I think it's called the ultimate boom bap kit or something like that. Glad you enjoyed it!

hey thank you so much, yeah I have a soft spot for jazz tracks

Awesome!

I played this a few months ago on my Quest 2 and absolutely loved it. I felt very scared sneaking through the corridors, waiting for the next robot to pop out from nowhere. It's such an immersive experience. Will this game come to the Oculus Store or App Lab in the future, and if so, will it be free or paid? (I definitely wouldn't mind paying; this game is so awesome)

I kind of wanted the aging to be automatic, so that the player can focus on the gameplay, gameplay which I did not really focus on enough. And yes, it's very goofy :)

Thanks for the review/rating! The enemy thing was one of those dumb decisions that almost everyone makes at least once during a game jam.

I wanted to make sure that each character felt unique even though they are just reskins. Your ideas for the abilities made me laugh, especially the tax evasion. I can just imagine a police car rolling up.

Thank you for applauding my effort, I appreciate that a LOT.

PRESENTATION/FIRST IMPRESSION

The game icon (with the title, stopwatch and cool time particle whirl effect) looked so awesome and professional that I downloaded the rar file onto my iMac, converted it to a zip folder using unrar.online, then I put the zip folder on a usb, took it to my windows 10 school pc, extracted the folder and played it. Even after all this effort, I only had time to play the first few levels.

INTRO: Was amazing, my heart was pounding so hard when I thought the missiles would hit me. The notion of fixing the clocks was a nice touch and made me feel like there was a reason to keep playing.

CHARACTER:

Good: I love the jump sound effect, good choice! (If you made it yourself, that's even better!)

I love how when the character jumps his eyes give the impression that he's so happy leaping into the air.

Improvements: Maybe you could have added some coyote time (when the player presses jump at the edge of the platform, there is a tiny little bit of extra leeway to let them jump. Eliminates the difficulty of pixel perfect jumps and makes the player feel great)

Overall the player character feels really tight to control, no slidy behaviour or anything, well crafted.

The platforming difficulty of what I played is nicely balanced and it made me feel good when I made a jump after 3 or 4 deaths at it. (I'm usually good at platformers/reflex stuff, so 3 or 4 deaths to me is like 50 deaths to someone else.)

THEME:

Perfect. Loved how the level can turn against you at any minute and it is a constant race against time (pun totally intended) to get to the end.  And what stands out here is the level design, because it does not matter which direction time is going, the level design still holds up.

FINAL VERDICT:

A well made platformer which follows the theme to a T, with great sound effects, a heart pounding intro and great level design, whether time is progressing forward or backward.

SHAMELESS PLUG:

I also made a game! Less sophisticated than yours though :D. It's called Retrograde Brigade, a top down shooter where an old wartime veteran yearns to return to the battlefield. His wish is fulfilled but with one caveat: he ages backwards.

Hey, thank you so much for playing my game, I really appreciate it. I made sure that the cover art was attractive because I figured that it is the first thing a potential player will see, and if they don't like it, they will move on. I'm very happy to see that my approach worked.

P.S: I wanted to add difficulty but I lost a couple of days at the beginning of the jam, and because I've never done a jam before, I was feeling a little burnt out.

Thank you so much!!

This was awesome, fun to play, relaxing music. Very clever way to fit the theme, you could probably release this on Steam its so polished.

The background effect is awesome, the music is great and the only thing I would change would be to add coyote time so that my input does not feel swallowed and it makes it easier to scale the platforms. Otherwise, I love the circle physics and the beginning paragraph of the description made me laugh.

Thanks for the compliment on the music, worked so hard on it, so it feels nice to know that other people appreciated it too. Yeah, I probably should have put some effort into making the music loopable and I intentionally made the adult super OP just for funsies.

I wanted to implement some kind of scoring system, but I ran out of time as I lost a couple of days during the jam. Thank you for the kind words!

Thanks for the compliment! My intentions were to make it feel more like a story than a game, but in hindsight that may not have been the right decision.

Yes I will make sure not to dream up an MMOJRPG

Thank you for the advice, will take it

Yes I have found taking breaks or having one day of the week away from my project helps IMMENSELY. Its like pushing the restart button

This advice is really useful, thanks for taking the time to type it.

Will do, feature creep is real :)

I already watch GMTK, a joy to watch and learn

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have 2 years of experience with Unity and C#

That would be so cool! The potential is endless there.
