Thanks for your comment DragonGino.

The game is actual so short, because I've spend nearly 75% of the time on the level editor to get it work fluently. But it will become handy, when I continue working on it after I've finished my current project. I will also figure out a better save system besides some sharing system, so that players will be able to play levels, made by their friends.

Thanks for you comment refractionpcsx2.

I'm glad you like it. I'm currently working on another project, but it is very likely, that I will continue working on Sticky's Quest, after I've finished it.

Thank you for your comment c0d3d.

To be honest, I could have make more content in this game, but I was so obsessed to get the level editor working, that I traded 75% of the time just for that. But hey, at least I made my very first level editor.
I have build the basis of the game in such a way, that it is easy to add new mechanics and levels with low effort. So it is likely, that I will continue working on it, after my current project is finished.
Again thank you for you comment, and also have fun with the other entrys of this jam.

Thank you for your comment.

I am glad that you like the game. It suffered from the lack of time I had for it, what is the reason for the lack of a proper tutorial. But I will work on this project at least to the state the game was planned to have for the jams release.

This includes a short campaign mode, more weapons, a few bosses for both modes and ... well... everything the game still lacks, like proper sprites and leaderboards for the arcade mode.

Have a nice day!

Hey everyone,

there are still some games with less than 10 ratings left. So go, play and rate them. That's all.

You will find the list of these games here: https://itch.io/jam/jimjam/unrated

Have a nice day!

Actually, you are not the first one who suggested me that idea. I will probably work at it as my second project, if I need some free time from my main project. However, I am glad that you like it and thank you for your reply.

I will try it after the Jam. I am glad that you like it :D

I am glad that you like it. Will expand it after the Jam, if I get some time for it. Thank you for the replay.

Well I could do 2 things now. I could speed the cannon up or I could just say you out played the game ;P

I will look after this little "issue" after the Jam. So thank you for the reply.

Thank you for the reply Slug Overdose. Well, this problem is caused by the short amount of devoelopment time, so that there was not much play testing time. I will go over it later, after the Jam.

Before I start: I will try to give you some advice on which parts of the game could be better, because I think, that this is why some people have joined the JimJam. I do not want to pull you down or something, I will just try to point out some things in detail, you could do better, so that you know where you might have some trouble. Even if I sound rough, I do not mean it so. Ok? Good! Now let's start!

This game is very interesting because of his movements. Personally I had no big problems with it and think, that it deserves more content after the JimJam. Howerver, I fund 4 little problems in the game, you may should investigate:

At first: The fullscreen. For some reason, if I try to play the game on fullscreen, it does not scale up. I can not actually say, if your coding, the engine or my browser causes this problem, so incase you want to investigate this: I played the game on Chrome.

At second: The music. Well, I actually think some nice music would improve the experience a good bit.

At third: The broken glass. For some reason, if I shoot the windows, the game do not refresh the screen for the time, the glass sound is playing. That means you can still move, but not see, where you actually are.

At fourth and last: The enemys. Ok, this one is kinda funny: Your weapon has only a limited range, BUT: the it is higher then the range the enemys will shoot at you. So you can shoot enemys from a certain distance, without any actual threat. Seems like they are a little bit short-sighted ;-)

Well, I liked the game and think you should definitely work some more on it and make it even greater. Well done. I hope to see another game in the next JimJam from you!

Sincerely,

Metrollos ;-)

This acrade game is simple and fun and the music is not as annoying as you suggest in your description ;P However, there are some things, that could be improven:

At first: The difficulty. Well, it seems, that the game is very randomised. That total randomness leads to some situations, where the player is not able to save all 4 neurons at the same time. Consider to make some patterns, which instead get chosen randomised. Then you could pull up the difficulty by speeding the game up over time.

At second and last: The sound. Well, I think the biggest problem with the sound are not the effects or the music: it is the volume of them. Try to get a balanced volume of the sounds. The bad thoughts are very quiet, what is okey with the music, while your movement and, oh boy, the sticky sounds are kinda bursting the music away.

Well, a nice little arcade game. The music and the sounds are good but unbalanced. The asthetics are very good and are very fitting to the game. Not much work left on this one, good job. Hope I see another game from you in the next JimJam.

Sincerly,

Metrollos ;-)

Well, it is a simple game by concept. It is kinda nice, but it suffers from some problems:

At first: The camera. The camera has alwasy it center above the player. This is problematic if the player want to navigate downwarts. Centralise the camera on the player, for better visability or move it in the direction of the player movement. Also consider to make a minimap, a larger view or at least an indicator, where the sun is, so that the player has something to orientate. It is just a mess to move around without knowing, where you are.

At second: The sound. Well... it is missing... I guess you do not had the time for it, right?

At third: The collisions. It seems to me, that the collision of the player do not get bigger like the sprite. Very frustrating, if the Asteroids just fly through you, because they do not fly through your middle.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The game is a nice litte arcade game, which suffers from the lack of development time I guess. I actually like it, that the player is slower as the asteorids, so that he has to outmaneuver them, to catch them. Keep it up, buddy!

Sincerly,

Metrollos ;-)

Quite a good game. Asthetics are looking fine, sounds are also good and the grapling mechanic is awesome. But there are some things that could be improved:

At first: The tutorial. It is a box of text that no one realy want to read. Try to keep it shorter next time or in more visual form. I know, it is hard with such a short period of time to make something like this, but if you are without such a timelimit, keep it in mind. It was good for me, that the game was so easy to understand trough gameplay, because I just searched for the controls in the Tutorial and started the game.

At second: The options. It would be nice, to have some information about the value the slider is set in, like 50 is like 50% of the mouse sensitivity, so that the player can put his mouse sens that he uses in other games in. It also would be nice if you could change the senistivity in-game, like outside of the main menu, so that it is easier to test the setting out.

At third: The difficulty. This one is simple: static increasing difficulty. You could make it, that every wave has a greater amount of enemys, that the enemys are faster or smaller with every wave or a combination of these.

At fourth and last: The grapling mechanic. This mechanic is awesome, but it has one litte problem: hit detection. Sometimes, it  it just goes trough the enemy without any effect and sometimes it does not hit at all, but graples you towards the enemy. I think this is because the game uses ray casting to detect a hit, but count it as it not until the end of the shoot animation. So there are 2 ways to choose to improve this case: #1: make the hit detection through the hook itself, so that the player has maybe to shoot in the way of an enemy, which would slightly increase the difficulty of the mechanic, or #2: make the hook animation faster, so that it would not be noticed, that the game uses ray cast to detect the hit.

I like the game. It has a catchy mechanic and is easy to understand. My highscore was 176.000 and I lost because I catapulted myself up into space, so I could not defend my ship anymore. R.I.P. the dumb ones XD

I hope you have found my comment useful and I also hope I will see another game from you in the next JimJam.

But now I know it better for the next time, thank you!

Hey everybody, I have a problem with my game in this Jam. I submitted it over the submit button, but strangely, my game does not appear in the entries feed and if I want to rate a game, I would be told that I can not rate because I did not submit my entry... witch I uploaded via the submit button last night and can be downloaded... What could be gone wrong here? The game is here: https://metrollos.itch.io/zodiac
