You should join our discord. Fyi we are doing a dev choice award.

Apologies for the initial rating. This game does in fact follow the theme… and after playing a bit I found it to be a bit fun!

The joystick integration seems to be broken? The gaps between platforms are impossible to jump, unless I just am missing something? Didnt know slide kills zombies, took a few tries to understand!

I’m so sorry for my initial 1 start review. Your game deserved much better, andI think you have real potential and making this into a full fledged game. Thanks for pining me on discord. this is a very interesting runner game.

good start. I think you got most of the arcade elements down. The game itself did not have me wanting to play more though.

obstacles whent hey come I don’t know what to do or if they are obstacles? You mentioned fuel I never noticed it.

I died a few times not really knowing why?

Music was fun but could be improved

The theme for “don’t fall of a cliff” was not followed though, so no points for that.

Thanks for the submission. Interested to see where you go w/ this.

Great start! I can see this being a fun game w/ some improvments, def need to introduce some monsters ( i know you mentioned a spider?)

Critique:

  1. I someitmes died… had no idea what killed me (maybe the spider?)
  2. The graphics are aweful. I know your going for that scarry vibe w/ blurred vision, but it just makes me sick playing.
  3. Monsters are needed, should be running away from something or incorporate more drama into this.
  4. trapdoors as cliffs… Hard to see them when they open, should make a autible sound or something so you know to look down.
  5. Hard to navigate the level

I could see this being an arcade game! but it needs more levels!

The theme is not really followed but I’ll give you a point for the water you can fall in

graphics needs improvement or full screen mode? hard to see.

after beating the game, you need a leaderboard for times so you can compete. But I think more levels in general would make me want to keep playing.

No gamepad integration but great music and SFX. You are on the way to a good arcade game.

I’m following you on this one. Can’t wait to see the full game.

Great game! gamepad integration is perfect. The music and sound effects are fun, and you nailed that tony hawk feel!

Critiques:

  1. Look ahead map and rail enhancements, can’t jump off the rail, or predict obstacles ahead so that made combination moves limited.
  2. The theme was don’t fall off a cliff. This more focused on don’t fall off your skateboard, but there are some cliffs but it’s not the focus so giving you partial for that. 3.Leaderboards would be a nice arcade element.
(1 edit)

You nailed the theme! Nice work! Played this game a bunch and it is def a top game. Love the music and beat. simple and intuitive as well

Critique:

  1. Gamepad integration ALMOST finished. Need to still push enter to start the game
  2. No sure if this was intended but the duck button does stay ducked? so you have to push it again after. Seems to mee you should be able to hold it down.
  3. You should add a leaderboard, so people know how good they are doing compared to others
  4. New highscores should be celebrated imo

well done! nice work!

I did not like this game. I don’t think it met the theme, and it was not intuitive to play.

You have gamepad integrations started? but not full working, couldn’t fly left.

Shoot and boost were not intuitive, Fly around for a full 3 mins before you see enemies.

Did not want to keep playing.

Keep working on your skills, you’ll get there. Ask for help on the next in our discord. I think you could have cleaned this up much better from my initial test/feedback.

Excellent work. Much better than when I tested it earlier this week. You’ve really evolved this game well! I could see this game becoming a arcade hit for sure. You obviously nailed the theme! Super impressive how fast you made this game. Music and sound effects are good.

Critiques:

  1. The controls are still a little unintuitive, still unsure on missiles it’s not labeled correctly in the control box on the lower left. And no obvious gamepad integration. Also gear down (does not mean reverse!).

2.The game is too easy even on hard. There is no urgency to go fast, no clock ticking you down, nothing would stop someone from driving carefully forever and blowing up every obstacle w/ an unlimited supply of missiles.

other than those your game is well built and does not appear to have many bugs at all. I love that when you die it takes a little snapshot of your death (great way to start over)

GREAT game! You sir know how to make a good game. Minus one point for cliffs not being “cliffy” because you not really “actively” trying to not fall off a cliff. I wish my score could go down in history on the leaderboard! please add that!

This game is a top runner for sure. nice work

This is a REALLY cool game and I actually love playing. I would keep going but…. A couple issues the void sometimes kills you right at the beginning of the game. You need to work on getting that to be more reasonable. Sometimes you’ll be in a void that is basically a lake and there is no way to escape. In order to leverage strategy, there needs to be at least 1 safe place to move every 2 changes of the void (given its change speed). Also, I think changing the void a bit slower will still make the game fun. Getting that timing and ensuring the user understands it is critical, I think. Minus one point for this miss-timing and another for killing a player right at the start due to a bad void.

The game glitches out when the joystick is connected. Much better however w/ the music and sound effect! The arcade action of this game is only extra steps. You are are just about there.

I really think this is an interesting game, and you can go much further w/ this concept.

Hey sorry for no feedback. This didn’t follow the theme, and had no instructions and i didn’t know exactly what i was doing once i started. So I just didn’t put any effort into it.

Apologies for no feedback back. On my phone now if i get a chance later I’ll play it again, but it can’t win like this.

Love the music and the sound affects, the game is very functional and no gus. This game is great! I could see this on an arcade. Nice work!

Critiques

  1. No full screen
  2. screen is small
  3. Joystick not working (says gamepad, so I didn’t doc hard on that)
  4. Would like to see a graphics refresh (the borders are not well defined)

image.png

This game is great! I played a ton. After a while it gets real simple once you get a good strategy going. But that is exactly how you want a game to feel. Agree w/ Illuminati Dad on the jump feeling a bit stuff. But ultimtately those are my only critiques. Nice work!

Great game. I ran about 50 times! I would keep playing too, my kids loved it! this could easily be an arcade game. It has great sound effects, and I love the megaman like explosion when you die. It is truly a fun well balanced one button games

Jam specific Critiques:

  1. Not really cliffs, but stay on the platform specific which works.
  2. No joystick integration, it would have been super easy to hook it up to 1 button.
  3. No metrics on how far you get, or high score (that makes it feel more like an arcade and keeps it competitive for others to compare).
  4. No music, it needs something that draws people in while you play.

This game was VERY interesting. I love that it was basically Jenga. Totally a unique and different experience.

It was hard to maneuver the cow, and the blocks were kind of unpredictable w/ the physics engine. The beans were random and didn’t make a ton of sense to me. But I love the art and creativity that goes into this game. I think if you refine it a bit, it would truly be a unique experience that people would want to come back to. As it stands now, it just needs to have some key UX refinement.

Great game. Just needs joystick/gamepad integration and some more challenges up ahead since you can easily just play this forever. Leaderboard is great but I think people should type in their names to make it personable.

I really love the concept of this game though. It was well developed.

doc 1 for music and catapults not calibrated for strategy.

I can’t believe this was AI generated. Claude did a great job.

Its a great start, but all prior comments still stand.

Hey you fixed the bug!

Great game! Ok only 1 last critique. Needs music :D. YOU sir have a great game here.

Doc one because its “DONT” fall off the cliff and one for music. Everything else about this game is awesome.

(1 edit)

its a good start of a game but not a contester. keep working on it you could definitely do something w/ this, but you need something else also to make it stand out.

sound effects are no fun

no music

no gamepad integration

no metrics to make me want to play again

bugs out once you get to a point

You nailed the theme, but after playing two runs (to figure out what’s going on) I never would play this game again. No metrics that tells me how long I last, no max score, what’s the point? also no joystick…

the game has potential but needs work.

Great game! all of my prior comment applies for my rating. Excellent work

Nice job! Joystick controls are a little tough and a bit slow. sometimes get’s stuck when trying to jump. Enemies immerge a bit fast in some places after you kill them. General rule of thumb w/ according to my own ninja turtles and Megaman experience is to limit re-emergence unless you come back after the wave is defeated. Not endless emergence. reloading the weapon should flash red or something when you get to the end of your clip, I kept finding I forgot to reload once I ran out.

Not on theme for cliffs, but still a fun game, ALSO WAY cool that you use your own real self and sister as part of the actors we see in the game. This is a really fun project.

This a great game. I think its a bit hard to get good, might want to start off a little easier knock the player a little less far and more predictably on the direction and distance the move. As well as the rest of the prior comments about gun direct and sound I first made.

I think you could do a lot w/ this king of the hill concept.

Fun game! I love that it is a frog! Clearly you’ve been developing this guy for a long time, and it was very close fit to the theme. No bugs in sight! Great work you have!

Critique:

  1. This fits the one more run look at feel, but doesn’t focus on cliffs (which is the theme, but it does have some holes you can fall in, so I gave you a point for that)
  2. Each run is different, so a player doesn’t really get to learn from their mistakes on a given section, so its hard to build up. That ruined a bit of the one more run feel.
  3. Impossible or near impossible levels – There was one level generated that I’m 99% sure was impossible… the key had no way to get to it (it was at the top of the map w/ not ledges to get up to it) I thought maybe there was a special jump ability that I was missing, so I then did the tutorial to check. Also there was another level that generated where you needed to get a key in one space by back tracking before you unlock the door. I got a whiff of that level a couple times and never could even get close to getting to the key, let alone the door before the blades caught me, and I dashed from the beginning to get as far ahead as possible. That made only a couple of different level scapes playable. IT is entirely possible I’m just too dumb to figure it out, but I think I’m the average player at the very min.
  4. The tutorial… why is so hard to complete??? That is the worst possible place to put a hard obstacle for a new person learning. That last obstacle made me refresh the game. HOWEVER I did love the tutorial it was well done minus that part. ALL games imo should have that.

luxoDD games… :D

can’t play this one?

Ok I LOVE this game. I just want to say the concept here is super awesome! I love the music, and the entire concept of moving your tile raft around. I could totally see this working on an arcade.

Critique:

  1. No joystick. - if you had this tied to a joystick and buttons this game would be WAY different. right now its just tough playing on a keyboard
  2. bugs where tile disappears when its moved (unless they are stacking? but that is not intuitive)
  3. Your score doesnt hang around after you’ve played, this is huge! You do all this work, and by the time it comes to you getting to see you score it disappears! you should keep the max score around so you can compare each run to your best. Also promote the player a bit when they hit a milestone distance on the raft. Something simple like a +25 +50 each time they get the raft further. Also, when doing milestone scoring you could possibly even give them bonus points for a larger raft. What is to stop someone from just keeping two tiles the entire game? No real reason to have all of those bloat tiles sticking around.
  4. Game mechanics are really clunky and hard to navigate the guy. He should have set positions that he fixes on the raft, i’m never sure if I’m standing on a tile or about to fall. I kept pulling a tile out from underneath him. Needs to be more obvious where he is standing by adjusting the angle of the camera or fixing the spot he stands w/ a light or shadow. or something. Also maybe auto posistion where the most logical place he plans to put the tile, he grabs it form the left and pushes right, highlight the white square where he most likely want to place it on the right side of the raft, he moves down move box to the sqare below the column he is currenlty most on… etc.
  5. Sound effects are a little low (or the music is to high?)

Hmmmm I may need the password? Whats the password!? or is that the game?

nice! It took me a while to figure out the controls, but it ended up being pretty fun once I did. I got the skull down to 29 points!!

Could use some music and sound affects though. All I could hear was me hammering my joystick buttons! Then I realized I could just hold it down 🤣.

Moving the gun was not intuitive for me, it took a while to understand that was how my direction changed when I shot. Would be nice to have a real gun indicator or something?

That skeleton seemed to knock me a random distance each time! It would be nice if it was a consistent amount? At least I could not tell. But I was having a hard time devloeping a strategy because I would move to the side of him that had the most land left and he’d somehow knock me across the map, whereas someitmes he would only knock me back a pixels from him.

I love the concept though, kind of like king of the hill but w/ a gun! Nice work!

WHOA! very interesting game

image.png

I got a score… I think? Nice work mate.

you should hook it up to a gamepad and add some sound effects and music!

Nice job!

I really enjoyed this game! I wish the gamepad was working, would have made playing that much more fun!

Personal preference: The tv look kind of game me a bit of a headache, wasn’t a fan. I honestly thing the game is SUPER fun just how it. Not need to dress it up, its challenging and the concept you can do a ton w/!

dude level 8… I could not get that little coin in the corner..

Hmm I could not get it to work? sorry I tried for a good few minutes
