Theme

"Please Don’t Do That"

In this season of love, we chose a theme about breaking expectations 💔
Think about the one thing players assume your game will do, then don’t do it
The game should make players think:

“Wait… please don’t do that.”

And then do it anyway.

That might mean:

  • The menu is part of the challenge

  • Gravity works the opposite of what you expect

  • The game reacts before the player does

If it feels a little uncomfortable, surprising, or rude, you’re probably doing it right.

Starts on Valentine’s Day

We’re starting on February 14th for a reason
If you’ve got no love in your life — this is it
If you’ve got too much love — ruin it with a game jam 💔
This theme is about breaking expectations, rules, and sometimes hearts

Alongside the main prizes, we’re introducing a Dev Choice Award —voted on by our Luxodd Dev Legion on Discord

When voting opens, they decide

4. Upload your game in a Web Accessible format (we won't run executables) before the deadline, then play and rate other entries

Building your Game, Best Practice

One of our past 1st place game jam participants, TheDollarGameStore, put together a genuinely solid guide on
how to build and submit a game for itch.io game jams

If you want practical advice on scope, presentation, and avoiding common jam pitfalls, we highly recommend giving it a read and following him for more dev-focused articles like it.

About Luxodd

We’re Luxodd Games, and we’re building a connected indie-to-arcade network. We’ve already taken games like Wabisabi (mobile) and Star Carrier Catalyst (PC) and rebuilt them for physical cabinets, shown at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and in early pilot venues

If you’ve ever dreamed of walking into a bar and seeing a crowd around your game on a glowing cabinet, not buried in an app store thumbnail, ONE MORE RUN IV is where that story can start

Questions or looking for feedback? Drop a post in the jam community or ping us on Discord
