I wasn't sure if doing multiple phones would be easy or complicated, but since it's complicated I'll patiently await your next update.
Thank you! :)
Zoey,
This is incredible! I wasn't going to include a phone in our next game, but now your code makes it possible. Thanks so much for making this available and accessible to those of us with minimal programming skills.
I spent a bunch of time playing with the phone and I have a couple questions:
-Let's say I want to switch POVs to a character who has a different phone with its own contacts, or my character obtains a second phone in addition to the one she already has. I figured out a way to accomplish this by swapping phone themes and hiding/unhiding contacts. But is there a simpler way to do this that I might be missing? Like is it possible to define multiple phones with their own themes and default contacts, and tell the game which one to pull up? If not, that's fine.
-Is it okay if we make our own custom phone skins?
Thanks again!!
-Alex
OMG I love this, I am eating this up for breakfast!!! Seriously, I love to know everyone's favorite character, favorite song, favorites scenes...so thank you very much for taking the time to write this! And going above and beyond to defeat the character count. XD
Another one for the Peter gang! Love to see Peter love. (I mean I love to see love for ALL of them of course, but Peter and Doug love is a tad rarer than the others!)
I agree about Alex and Poptart becoming best friends! I feel like Poptart already understands Alex and can tell he's trying too hard to be someone he's not, but once Peter graduates, Alex would majorly chill out while also maturing a bit. He'd realize his attitude was driving most people away, but Poptart patiently waited for him to wake up.
Ahh you're right about Aaron's potential. All of your takes are really good. It remains to be seen if his backstory will ever come to life though. My sister and I always wish we could make games full time so we could make a whole bunch! Unfortunately time and money is a thing. :')
Thanks again for leaving such a wonderful essay on your thoughts, I really enjoyed reading it, and I'm so glad you loved the game!!
I realized after doing the Steam tax interview that since I'm in the US, I'm not required to do backup withholding. I asked Itch.io to let me redo it and the second time I filled it out, I didn't run into the problem I described in this post. :/ Don't really get it, but everything's in order now. Good luck with yours!!
Aaaaah I love this, thank you so much for taking the time to type out your thoughts on each boy!! Seriously, I roam the Internet looking for every crumb of feedback on the game that I can hahah.
To answer your question, we're not the biggest fan of "true" routes, we believe all routes are valid! So we just call it the final route since it wraps up the game well and connects all the dots.
Thanks so much for playing Band Camp Boyfriend! <3 Have a great week!
Thank you so much for the review/rating and posting here as well since I can only respond here! You're gettin' me right back with the emotions. :') Really happy to hear you learned a bit about marching band and enjoyed reading about the journey, too. Thank you so much for playing our game and best wishes to you as well. <3
Thank you, you absolutely expressed yourself well! It's definitely tougher than ever making your way in this world as a young adult, but you survived marching band, so I'm sure you can do it. ;) And I've sadly fallen out of touch with my instrument as well so you're not along there.
I'm very happy you found the game so relatable and it made you smile! Thanks again for playing and I hope you enjoy the rest of the routes as well as that final route!! :)
Hahah!! You're not alone, there's a whole Aaron fan club wanting a route, and I do have a lot of ideas for him. If we did something more with BCB, we wouldn't want to do DLC, we would want to do a straight up fandisk/sequel kind of thing, but first we're taking a break and seeing how the game does.
Thanks so much for playing! :)
Hello! I reached out to Itch Support with this question back in January and again in March, but still no response. Here's the email I sent...
"Hello,
I just completed my W9 and submitted my tax information to your website today. I applied as a sole proprietorship and provided my social security number. Am I required to do backup withholding? The instructions are conflicting. They state that if my social security number is accurate that I am not required to. Then further down it says sole proprietors need to check that they are not exempt from backup withholding off. Which is the answer?
Further, the last page of the form where you have to check the four boxes in order to submit your information…I checked off 1, 3, and 4. I feel 2 does not apply to me and left it unchecked, but it would not let me submit my information without checking 2.
I tried checking 1, 3, and 4 while having backup withholding checked or unchecked, but either way it wouldn’t work. The only way I could submit the form was to state that I was subject to backup withholding because I have failed to submit information to the IRS, which is not true. I wound up checking off all 4 just so that I could finally submit the form.
The main question is, am I subject to backup withholding because I am a sole proprietor? Either way, that 2nd checkbox doesn’t apply to me. I have a feeling this is more of an IRS problem, but I’d like to know if you can answer my question.
Thank you!"
In short, I guess I'm just wondering if we're all subject to backup withholding and if I filled out the form right. Figured if Itch can't give me an answer, maybe my fellow gamedev can? This is my first game and I'm not well-versed in the universe of taxes.
Thanks in advance!
Hi fairfaxleasee!! I know it's been 3 years and I don't even know if you are following this project anymore, but as of last night we got the glossary functioning, which I am so stoked about. I just wanted to say a special thank you for such a great idea! It will certainly add to the quality of life and help bridge the gap between the game and non-band folk. I hope you and Squall are doing well. Thanks again for your suggestion!
