Hey there, I am interested in this asset. I have a couple of questions.

  1. Is it easy to swap out the meta human base models with custom models?
  2. Is there a save system, or would that be easy to implement?

Thanks!

Really cute game and I love the art

Thank you! And feedback noted!

Thank you so much for the feedback, and giving the game a play.

I think I need to increase the sprint speed among other things in a later build, after the voting ends.

Thanks again! It means alot to me

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!

Thank you so much

Thanks for giving it a play and glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for playing, and providing feedback, it’s extremely valuable.

With the sliding issue – I think I see what you mean, essentially after releasing a directional movement input key, the character slides to a stop. I think my brain had adjusted to it after so many playthroughs, but, it does make sense to remove it or at least tighten it up. Also, good call on the spawn point.. I will probably add some checkpoints for a later build.

Thanks again!

Also, I am aware that the some players are experiencing a build in the final scene, for the game jam build. It seems the player spawn location was off by about 0.5 units so the player might fall through the map. :(

You can still complete the game and get a partial ending, if you allow the player to fall for a minute or so. Eventually you will respawn at the starting zone. Interact with the first “upgrade flower” to see a small cutscene.

Just a hint for everyone, there is a shortcut to skip alot of the early platforming if you run through the fog.

  1. After you get the first upgrade, run into the upper left area of the starting biome.
  2. There is some fog that has no collision, so you can pass through it.
  3. Run through the fog, and jump / fall through some openings between the mushrooms.. and should be able to land on a platform.

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!

Any chance you could share your hardware / system specs in a DM? I tested on a PC with as GTX 1060, as well as on PC with Onboard GPU Radeon 3200G, but didn’t have anything else to test on for performance.

This is by far my favorite entry to the jam, that I’ve played so far.

Absolutely stunning visuals and captivating music blend perfectly together to create a strong mood.

What I love most about it, is that it evokes so much emotion in me.

I played it a second time immediately after the first. Fantastic entry to the jam!

Thank you for the kind words! Also thank you very much for playing.

… and yep, unfortunately there was a player spawn point position issue in the final scene for the jam build.

If you keep falling for a minute or so, you will eventually respawn back at the original spawn location and can get a partial ending (at least) by interacting with another flower.

Thank you! I appreciate the play through and feedback!

I’d like to suggest a feature enhancement for itch.io’s dashboard, specifically concerning the “Game Jams You’ve Joined” section.

Currently, participants can only withdraw from active game jams, which leaves no option to remove yourself from jams that have ended. This limitation results in a cluttered dashboard, especially for users who have joined multiple jams without submitting their projects.

The ability to leave or remove oneself from ended game jams would greatly de-clutter the dashboard.

Is this something that could be considered for the future? Thank you for considering this request.

Makes sense. I love the mashup of genres personally. I'd be interested in what you think of a game I made awhile back, Beatdown Bard 64 -- an action / rythm mashup. It's on our itch page (shameless plug but I legit think you might enjoy it).

This game is legitimately alot of fun! Love the art direction too. I really didn't expect to find such a treasure of a game.

Probably my favorite entry to the jam so far. Do you plan on continuing work on it?

Thank you so much for the feedback. We have some plans on expanding the game a bit down the road. What type of stuff would you like to see added to the game potentially?

Thank you for the feedback! I tweaked the combat a bit in a quick patch, hoping it's a bit tighter and such (adding blocking too). I totally agree with the song variety, I might write some more music or variations later on, we'll see..

I released a patch that speeds up the character movement and animations (also I took your suggestion and the player is now invincible during the powered up state). Let me know what you think if you get a chance to play it again.

I ended up increasing the player's move speed and attack animations, and slowed down the mushroom speed. Also added a blocking feature (hold right mouse). If you have a chance to replay the game, I'd love to hear more feedback.

I released a patch to increase player movement speed and attack animations. Let me know what you think if you have a chance.

Glad you enjoyed it! There is a final boss on level 11.

Thanks for the feedback, those are great suggestions.

Really cool. Could you provide any insights on how you achieved the look and atmosphere? (From a technical aspect).

Thanks for this! Could you specify the license please?

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be uploading version 1.1 after the ratings are done, which fixes alot of those issues -- decreased and focused zombie attack range, increased player attack range, also the bat fireballs now damage other enemies ;)

Thank you again for the feedback! Also, impaled your game a few days ago and it was great. Really nice retro feel and look!

Thank you for the encouraging words! There's a nerf incoming for the zombies, which I'll release when the voting period ends.

PS - your game looks awesome, I can't wait to play it when I get home.

Awesome, thank you so much for playing! Also, glad it worked out! The zombies have a nerf incoming for the first update after the rating period is over.

PS - I played your game a few days ago and it was amazing.

Thank you for reporting this bug. Any chance you have a controller hooked up to your PC? The game supports a gamepad, so I'm wondering if another device or drivers are receiving input incorrectly.

What OS and hardware do you have if you don't mind sharing?

If anyone has any feature requests, please post them here.

I plan to add a handful of more weapons, an RPG component, more items, more enemies, puzzles, traps, and a more detailed / interesting map, going forward.

Really great game. The level of polish is impressive, controls are tight and responsive and the combat feels reactive and satisfying. Great job! Were the combat mechanics made in BP?

Out of curiosity, what web browser are you using?

Extremely strong submission to the game jam. Super cute art, simple and fun game play. Amazing work!
