Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it :)

rated, amazing work!

Very fun game! I really liked the progression, the variety of enemies and the take on the jam theme, very impressive for 1 person!!

I'm rating it a 5 all around but I think if the game was a little slower paced and was a bit harder it would've been really amazing, great work though!

In 1992 a lone forest claims lives each day, Mysterious disappearances, rumours of monsters and unexplainable events, you've been hired to upload data. Keep your wits about you.

CONTROL SCHEME:
Interact - E
Toggle light - F
Skip Tutorial - Tab
Escape/Pause - Esc

How does this tie into the theme?:

We didn't want to be on the nose with the "risk it for a biscuit" theme so we took a different approach. The risk vs reward in WOODLAND very much stems from gaining the courage, and risking the sanity to leave your tower and enable the relays, significantly speeding up your progress to the main goal.

If that wasn't enough, the main upload data is an acronym: B.I.S.C.U.I.T!

Tutorial:

Main Goal:

The main goal is to upload the B.I.S.C.U.I.T data to your employer, progress of this can be seen in the computer via the "Upload" app. You can only speed this up by activating relays.

Relays:

Relays are the only way to increase your upload progress, you can find codes to activate relays via the "relay.codes" command, requiring you to then leave the tower, find the associated relay and correctly input the code - enabling the tower and increasing upload progress for a small period of time.

Survival:

Food, Water and Sanity are extremely important resources to keep track of and will not be able to be tracked outside your tower. Ensure you return to your tower regularly to restock on supplies like batteries, food and water.

You cannot recover sanity, but sanity is lowered significantly faster when outdoors or if you have pending events.

Food, water and batteries can be purchased at the shop in the computer for money you gain via completing "Documents" in the computer. Batteries aren't required, but if you use your flashlight too sparingly, you'll end up needing them.

After ordering supplies a drone will drop them off by the base of your tower, requiring you to bring the supplies up to the room before unpacking them.

Power:

Can catch you off guard when you least expect it. Play too safe or forget about errant events and your generator might blow a fuse, requiring you to find it in the dark and re-enable it.

Help me something is outside:

Don't worry about it...

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU'RE STRUGGLING TO CLOSE THE PC:

Open the start menu and click the power button.

We had a lot of last minute issues with closing the PC properly. Sorry!

We had a lot of last minute issues with closing the PC properly. Sorry!

This is fixed in the latest version

Thanks a lot! Balancing is definitely the games weak point it seems haha. We spent so much time getting all the systems and assets in place that unfortunately we couldn't effectively make balance play-throughs :P

Small world Jamie, I had no clue you were taking part in this game jam haha!

Awesome splice of a game, I can tell a lot of effort was put into it, especially the aesthetics - very calming and beautiful. The world building was really nice too, I want to know if the goblins find a new home!

Thanks for the feedback! There's difficulty settings in the gameplay options before you start the game if you want more of a challenge :P

Balance was definitely our weakest point because of the amount of time spent getting the game working so we resorted to adding harder difficulties last minute :P

Cheers for checking us out!

Thanks for the feedback! A sensitivity slider is a good shout

Sorry to hear you're having issues. You'll need to interact with the folder to the right of the map on the desk infront of the player, that'll allow you to make a choice based on the current event as indicated in the tutorial. There's no pointer (which was a mistake :P) so it might be a bit fiddly but try select above and around the folder in case your resolution isn't compatable for whatever reason and may be messing up the hit registration.

Afterwards you can interact with the bed and sleep to the next day where you repeat the steps based on the remaining resources you have. There may have been some bug in exporting which caused you to be unable to interact with the folder when clicking but try restart the whole game and try again. Let us know if you find a fix or keep having problems and I'll try to help the best I can!

Thanks for checking out the game though <3

Edit: I think someone else may have had a similar issue if you skipped the tutorial at a certain point. Try skip the tutorial as soon as you start the game by pressing 'Space' to see if that may have been the issue.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Sorry to hear about the bug you experienced, if you want a harder experience you can also change the difficulty in the gameplay settings before starting a game and it should give you a really good challenge. Cheers for letting us know about the bug though <3

Thanks a lot!

The curse of forgetting to use Delta Time haha, cheers for the feedback, clicking to go to the next text box is a great idea!

I saw the animation of the lady getting pulled up but then I couldn't find a way to progress. I couldn't move to the right and I couldn't climb the stairs. I also accidentally threw my shield outside of the map border and couldn't reach it :(

Awesome, awesome and awesome. Everything was great!

I had a bug where I couldn't progress past the temple steps but the art was lovely and the gameplay was great, had a lot of fun!

Glad you liked it, thanks a lot!

Awesome game, I love the amount of choices!

Very fun game! Took me a second to understand what I had to do but after that it all came together! Surprisingly polished and very nice menu's!

Cool little platformer!

All it needs is the movement to be a little less floaty and some sort of player speed-up mechanic like a grappling hook and it'd be a super solid game!

Check out our game and give it a rating! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12/rate/2971331

Link your game in the comments and I'll rate your game. I may not be able to do it straight away but I'll 100% get around to it!
