Hi, I haven't played it, I've been meaning to - but I've seen gameplay of it and it does seem like a great game.

I'd love to have any help I can get really, I'm glad you think they sound interesting, my discord tag is jonii_joestar (like it is on here lol) hope to hear from you again (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

Greetings, my name’s Jonii, UK based, and I’m looking for some people to work on some projects with me - there are two different projects I want to work on, and they’re like completely different projects so bare with me lol.

Oh before I start talking about them  here's a general thing for both of them, my art style is kinda like storybook  vibes, 2D paper doll kinda energy but it's meant to be gritty and stuff, it's done in pixels but because I can't animate the art had to be still - obviously I can alter my art style if any animators wanna collab or what I dunno, just saying.

First game:

This is a game about a zombie apocalypse - I did call it Discordance but I don’t know if that vibes with me anymore, so the name is a WIP - essentially, I am obsessed with TWD and it kinda bothered me a little there were no games that reflected that vibe that I got from the show, even the official TWD game fell flat for me, it’s a good game, great even, but it doesn’t have the right energy for me, so I took the ‘if you want it make it yourself’ mentality seriously and decided ‘why don’t I make a zombie game?’ - only problem is I’m a writer and an artist more than a coder and an animator and stuff, I have all the apps and stuff and tried it on my own but that didn’t go well (don’t laugh, it took me a week to figure out how a label worked).

So given I can’t exactly do it alone anymore and it’s not really progressed beyond just thoughts and ideas because of that creating a thick wall thought I’d post on here and ask if anyone wanted to help.

The second game:

This one is called Dust to Dust - now don’t bite me, I’m Catholic, it’s a religious game, but it ISN’T meant to be like your usual christian games you see, it’s because I, a genderfluid, aroace individual who had religion as my hyperfixation for AGES decided I was tired of seeing so many people using faith to harm other people and I thought ‘hey if I bring the whole thing visuals then maybe… just maybe it’d teach something more important and get the message across better’ because I’m tired of the ‘love everyone’ being warped into the ‘love everyone that acts exactly like you’ mentality - it’s meant to be historically, culturally, and contextually accurate stuff, down to the nail (no pun intended). Anyway, so yeah that one’s more of a personal project but I wouldn’t mind some help on that one either, because again, I can’t code to save the life of me.

And just to break the ice before I get into the nitty gritty of the expectations I have let me tell you a bit about myself:

  • I love TWD, my favourite genre is zombie apocalypse, dystopia kinda vibes, my favourite characters are Negan, Glenn (RIP that icon (sorry if I just gave you a spoiler)), Daryl, Rick, Ezekiel and lowkey Carol although she’s not as favoured as the prior cast - Negan’s a good villain, okay, leave me alone (plus he’s a good looking dude, okay?? What? Fight me on that)
  • I love JJBA - literally my favourite anime/manga, I love the story, the art, the characters, it actually reignited my passion for creating again, my favourite characters from JJBA are Jotaro, Dio, Pucci and Bucciarati, oh and Giorno. And Secco. Secco is my spirit animal I fear.
  • I have a dog.
  • People tell me I’m like Daryl but if he looked feminine and had undiagnosed autism (which I headcanon he has anyway)
  • I write fanfiction about,,,,, you guessed it: JJBA and TWD, honestly my obsession is insane.

And that’s it, I’m boring (I’m joking, I have other things, of course, I play farming simulators a lot (I love Fields of Mistria), I compose music for fun, play a lyre, I play DND, listen to goth, rock, pop, classical, literally anything that vibrates my skull and I’m turning my headphones all the way up)

Anyway, so, here are the expectations, because I know I should make those obvious before you message in case you don’t vibe with it - I don’t want us to not click:

  • Revenue share: this is because:
    • I recently finished college and even when I get a job a lot of the money will be going to supporting my family, so I won’t be able to hold a solid income for you and myself
    • This is gonna work in the sense of I don’t actually care about the money, I just make these for fun, so you guys can split it between you - the only thing I ask for is that the art and writing is respected as mine, I don’t care about anything else, we collaborate, we are a team, not enemies
  • Good communicators:
    • Obviously this is important, if you can’t talk and communicate any problems then we will not work as a team
  • Empathy:
    • Empathy is a huge requirement for me, if you don’t know how to respect and care for your team mates we will not work together, even if you just do a simple, ‘I’m sorry you’re going through xyz, but I can’t help you, you should message xyz instead, maybe they can help’ is fine, I know some people struggle but I think kindness goes a long way
  • Open-minded:
    • Again, as I said earlier, we are going to be a team, not enemies

And honestly that’s it, other than have a discord, I’m pretty ‘lax in terms of expectations, the only other expectation is that timetables might be funny because of some personal stuff I’m going through but I should be able to push through anyway.

If you’re down to help then feel free to reply, just say a bit about yourself and which one you wanna work on - we can go from there, there’d be a bit of an interview process (nothing major just some stupid questions) because whilst this is a passion project it is work and I take that seriously.

Anyway, I hope you consider joining me, I promise I don’t bite (unless you call Daryl ugly then I might) - have a good day/night and I can’t wait to see what we might create together ^-^

Thank you so much - I appreciate your advice, honestly I wish I WASN'T a solo dev but finding people to make a game with me is hard because I'm so socially awkward lol, especially as I can't exactly pay anyone due to my current lack of finances.

I'll look into ways without animating but if I can't figure it out I'll probably just have to grin and bare it but I just worry I'll burn out.

Again, I appreciate your reply, it means a lot. Thank you.

Hello, my name's Jonii  - I'm a solo game dev and I'm struggling with animating a sprite, and well, animating practically anything and everything to be fair; I'm designing a 2D pixel game - think like, Undertale, Stardew Valley kinda style - and I started animating but it never looks quite right, my sprites limbs look weird when animating and it's frustrating because I keep getting stuck on this and I feel like I won't really make any progress.

To be fair being a solo dev is difficult because I'm having to teach myself everything - so any advice would be appreciated.
