btw! I forgot! did you get inspired by road 96 ?? I'm really curious about this. If not, I have the feeling that you're gonna like that game

hahaha thanks for noticing the irony! it was funny to me to think that Sleepy Fellow is actually spanish but, for whatever reason, he dreams in English.
and yep, sorry about the controls, (surely getting bar score in that section xD) , thanks for trying to make it make sense with this being a nightmare and all, but the truth, is that this made me wanting to learn how to make an actually good platformer
thanks for your comment!! :)
Thanks!!!
I did work as a "book narrator" in the past, I am a bit rusty, I have to practice! Hahah
Sorry for the frustration and the buggy platforming! actually that exact platform you pasted is the reason why I put the "reload" room input (I should have put a visible on-screen button actually), a friend sent me a similar screenshot but it was late and my solution was the reload button hahaha.
Also I learnt that I have so much more toclearn about platforming xD
Thanks for your feedback!!
Have a nice jam! :)
nice environmental story telling maze.
I'd like to make a maze game but I feel it a bit overwelming, so I respect a lot people doing it.
I agree with previous commets about the writting in both senses: I feel like its a good writting, and I feel like you could have "enhanced" it to make it more enjoyiable.
have a good jam!!
Hola! muchas gracias!! I'm very happpy that you got that "what did I just play" feeling :) :)
About the controls, I must defend my man Sleepy Fellow! hahah, you actually can change direction mid-air, just not when in the pinwheels, this is intended to give you the chance to choose your jump direction.
Said this, yes, you are actually totally right that the game is asking for some polish in the controls, specially when it's a platformer and you can't platform properly in some situations. I didn't prioritise properly, and it's something I learnt to do jam :)
thanks again! have a good jam!! :)
I looked for your entry, and couldn't resist to give it a try :)
my first thought for this jam was to make a metroidvania, but ended up making just a "room-based platformer", I'm really glad that you could make it and make it this good.
it's frustrating at times (the journey of tempo) , but I think it's intended and it's actually fititng the theme and specially the retro aesthetics, I mean, playing it feels exactly like it looks it's going to feel, so congrats on the overall coherence of the experience.
and man, I feel like we have similar "gaiming brains" (with a huge experience gap between both of them), I tried to implement a "patience room" as well, with the exact same concept, but I didn't do a great job with it and it's not that understandable as yours.
If you are planning to polish or expand of looking for bugs to fix, If you end up under a moving platform when it's docking you get stuck there (I must admit that I was looking for that, it didn't happen randomly).
I wish I had more of a constructive feedback, but I don't feel like there's much to fix or improve. Good work!
wow! thanks for getting to the end of the adventure! :)
indeed there is no more to do when you arrive again to the first room (at first I was gonna let you start over and over, but I feel it could have bee a bit more confusing hahaha), actually you can finish without getting any teeth, that was just another "dreamy nonsense gag", I was tempted to make things a bit more obvious, but I wanted to keep it weird (maybe not the best choice xD).
About the platforming and the pinwheels, yep you're right, I focused too much in the "journey" itself when I should maybe have polished the platforming more. when I had friends to test it it was too late to improve stuff
this has been a really good "learnt to prioritise" experience for me.
Gracias por tu comentario! :)
wow!! beautiful game! it's really refreshing to see some well executed line-art games. the music was also fitting perfectly the atmosphere
the desing reminded me of "This war of mine" if that was the intention, congrats!!
As a suggestion, some visual feedback in the random encounter (I don't know, a dice or just turning the screen a bit green or red), but its just an idea.
nice work guys!!
pretty imaginative combat, nice upgrades for the links too, I don't know it feels original.
also the 2.5D aesthetic is very well implemented.
Also, I havent tested, it feels like you can play this on the phone, which is pretty interesting actually for a jam to make a mobile playable game.
Also the Uchiha-like story is a nice addition ;)
nice entry, congrats!
It's a pitty there's only one level, I was hoping for more nights to defend the camp.
I can't leave witout saying: the music is f**king nice! congrats to the composer I think there is a moment with a couple of notes that seem to be a reference to E33, if that is your intention, just know that someone here catched it!
have a good jam guys!
hahaha it felt like I was really working on AAA games, with all those ""just-make-it-simple" mechanics, and there were nice criticism for the games industry in general.
I totally agree with O.T. in terms of "how big companies try to fucking monetize everything "
nice addition the "clear test button"
also, is that "golden path" a reference to Leto the Second? if so, you got my attention and we should talk some time hahaha
I don't know, simple but very effective and imaginative entry and nice ending too!
sweet nostalgic entry!
I'm not usually a fan of "game clones", but this one was really interesting mix. The game boy overlay is brilliant! ( and the "your name doesn't really matter felt like a good small easter eggs for those 90s games"
I have encountered a bug while sleeping (or maybe it was intended), I put my racoon to sleep, and I couldn't wake him up , and then a battle started and I couldn't defend myself or even seeing what was happening I tried to paste a screenshot, but itch wouldnt let me...)
Keep on triggering nostalgia for us!! :)
I think I missed something, and I dont really know what my goal is here! and it's a pitty, because I always like space/gravity stuff.
I feel like there is a good idea behind but I just coulnd't get it. Also some ambiental music would have added to the experience.
and I agree about the rotation direction, it would be nice :)
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you had a bit of fun with the sleepy fellow! :)
I guarantee it's not skill issue, it's me who has to put a little bit more time into learning some nice platforming mechanics! I was a little bit far with the scope and didnt really focus on the mlst important thing of the game: making the platforming work properly! Hahah
Thanks for playing!
Wow thanks for your comment! :)
I'm happy that you felt the visuals and the music fit together, Andres and I are friends from long time ago and I think we vibe in the same way, it makes me happy that we achieved this with the game.
About the game desig. thanks a lot as well, I tried to solve exactly those tedious mechanics and looks like I did it! :))
Btw, I'm not sure I'll be able to play your game before the deadline because of family stuff... But it looks gorgeus!!
I'm not really a veteran in jams, but I think this is the kind of games that I like to find, simple mechanics and effective.
as a suggestiong I would add maybe less randomization, I completed many days/nights without having to do anything.
good work, ah! and the sfx are nice and the fact that you can translate the game, nice touch :)
Thanks for your comment! :)
I'm sorry to hear about that last level (you didn't miss anything interesting, actually, we didn't have time to make an ending xD)
Saving state would have beem interesting indeed, or maybe I should have keep the momentum of the start of the swing so it doesn't stop...
I'm glad you liked the art too, I'll tell Andres, the artist :)
about randomizing the sounds, take a look at https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/classes/class_audiostreamrandomizer.html man, when I discovered this I was so happy xD
all right then, I respect the non-music decission :)
nice 3d pacman/plants vs zombies! good use of the lights I must say :) nice the little sounds as well!
I agree with previous comments that is a pretty hard game and I think I'll try to beat it once the jam is over and I dont have so many games to play!
as a suggestion, I would make the camera control a bit smoother, like less responsive to mouse movement, but it's just personal preference :)
