Thank you all for the advice! I've decided to go with Godot, it seems absolutely perfect for what I'm doing and not hard to use once I get in there and get used to it. I originally was gonna use GMS but that pricing model was a bad fit for me and my life, at least for the scope of thing I'm making lol

As it stands, I am not a programmer, not even a little. I'm making a video game though so I gotta do it.
If anyone has any recommendations for programming language/engine tools that are 1) free or wild cheap, and 2) at least somewhat beginner friendly, I would greatly appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
I've sketched out a combat system on paper that's going to rely on hit boxes, and at least 4 layers of them. I'm guessing just about any language or engine these days can do that but if there's one that's like "oh no this is the one" I'd thank you forever for that knowledge.
just listened to the youtube video in the link. I like the ideas!
I did have a couple suggestions about the mix, I think the violin is getting a little buried, and the muffled piano might work better "sparkly" (for lack of a better term). Seems like there's some room in the higher frequency ranges you could use to let those speak more clearly.
The other thing about the violin is that the ends of notes seem a little abrupt, consider either lengthening those notes and fading them out in your DAW or do some dynamic phrasing if you're writing out in staff notation. You could also fake this effect a little by using some heavy reverb, but yeah the ends of those lines is a little dry.
That being said, really seems like you're hitting the ambient tone you're going for!
Hey everyone
I've recently gotten back into making music, and started doing it for a game I'm making. Things are kinda taking a different turn than I thought so I figured I'd share some tracks I'd written and see what y'all think. also a thing I wrote years ago but still thought was ok.
I've got a couple idea for area music, a boss fight, and the attract mode to title music. Everything up there is free to use except that title music, I'm keeping that lol. I should also mention these mixes are early, so there should be very little peaking but headphones preferred, check your volume, etc
if you want any of these tracks hit me up, if you want some music for your game also hit me up
