Good GOD this game is tough. But it's that type of tough that makes you want to get good; the diagonal bullet pattern is hard to get the knack of but it's such a unique idea that it keeps you interested. Very entertaining schmup, great work!

Hey, thanks for leaving a comment!

I can confirm the score uses an 8-bit vsriable, I hadn't used GB Studio before this jam so i wasn't entirely sure how to go about avoiding that. It's specified in the engine that global variables max out at 255, so I'd say the rollover is probable.

I also thought about adding some health indicator or lives meter, but to be honest I just ran out of time. Maybe after the jam I'll polish this more, maybe even make better spritework.

Thanks for the ideas!

Reading that, I know exactly what went wrong to cause that to happen. Kind of implemented the scoring system at the last minute, thanks for the info!

Gameplay is fast paced but fair, music is well done, overall a great project!

Cute design, music sounds like it would come straight from a metroid port to the GB. Nice work!

really hoping this masterpiece wins the pot

Wow. This obviously has a lot of time and care put into it. Music rocks, graphics rock, atmosphere rocks, this is a good game. I hope after this jam you keep working on this, I'm floore

I'll keep an eye out, good luck!

this conecpt is really interesting, but the game is pretty buggy. I feel like the idea is limited because of the harware it's meant for, I'm confident this would be great in a more powerful engine!

thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it!

I had some graphical errors playing this, whenever one of units attacked another the screen would turn pixelated and white. probably wanna look into that. Otherwise, its kinda fun (reminds me of Age Of War or whatever that old flash game was called), so nice job for a first project!

My game's an arcade-style arena fighter, you try and defeat as many enemies as possible before they can take you down. Hope you guys like it!

Genuinely enjoyable gameplay, gives me 2000s flash vibes. nice work

Hey everybody,

i found this Game Jam in mid-January; with only about 18 days left to finish a project and submit it. i didn't have any big ideas at the time that I knew i could (fully) finish by the due date, but i'm happy to say that my first published project Gladiator is posted and submitted. it's not super high quality (i took a project that basically only had a first-person character controller in it that i started, like, 2 years ago) but being able to say that i'm a published game designer means a lot to me. And now that there's something in my dashboard to show off, i feel more incentivized to keep improving it even after the deadline is up.

i wanted to thank Second Dimension Games for hosting this jam and giving me a reason to dedicate this much time to designing Gladiator. Hope to have more games to manage in the future!

Link to Gladiator, if you wanted to try it out.
