The only issues I had is that sometimes the dash would not trigger, which caused me some falls into pits haha. this prominently seemed to happen when I would jump form a ledge and try to activate the dash right away.
and the grapple felt like the mouse position needed to be a little too precise? Like it seemed if I didn't have my mouse right over the grapple point (or perfectly lined up in the direction of it, if its a raycast) when I clicked, it wouldn't connect and I would fall. Though like I said, this may be a skill issue of my own haha, and a design choice for you :)
Yes the movement at times was a little slow, especially if I needed to move from one end of the hotel to the next. Though, you cluttered the world enough that I found the walks interesting enough. such as admiring a new painting along the way!
I think its important to make some time for people to take in the world you create too, so definitely consider that if you make exploration faster :)
I honestly like how the dialogue was portrayed, it actually built a solid persona to the character (at least in my mind), like it was an actual thought someone would have to reading the sticky notes! so you condensed it well :D
Also I adored the character portrait art. please do more non-pixel art!!
Cool idea! I unfortunately had a rough time getting a handle on controls, the abilities didn't seem to always activate for me that sent me back to the start of the puzzles. maybe a skill issue? But cohesive art, great music, concise ways to solve the puzzles with abilities and a good mixture of interesting gameplay. Very well done putting it together in the game jam time frame! Could totally see this fleshed out to something more. and would probably spend hours on it trying to solve every puzzle haha. Well done!
I'd really appreciate a comment on my game to :) ty
I was gonna comment about the screen sizing, but you addressed that on the page haha.
but wow! good set of cards and quick to pick up battle mechanic. It did take me a bit to get a handle on, but once I did I found myself playing quite a few rounds (17 is as far as I got!). The card animations are slick, and the sacrifice boosts are genuinely useful. well done designing and implementing them! I'd be sure to play again if you plan to iterate on it.
would really appreciate if you can try my game out too :)
I do love when people tackle narrative in game jams, because it can be hard to inject a story into such a small segment of a game, so when you find yourself intrigued, it means it was done well. And I think you did so well! from the music and the scene of waking up in the middle of night, to walking through a dimly lit apartment, my curiosity was piqued to see it through!
Also kudos on the art and atmosphere. well implemented. I did however struggle to find the sticky notes and was lost on "what to do" at some points. if you were to continue working on it, I'd say think about the player experience and extra ways to draw attention to the things that need to be found, such as audio cues or other eye catching events.
For the sake of the time-limited jam, it was a really enjoyable tale!
This was really well put together for a game jam game. and one of the most engaging I've played. Loved the writing, art style and ambience. I achieved ending 2 & 7! kinda wished I consumed more monsters... I feel like that may have gotten me the 8th ending?
Anyway, good narrative, I saw the theme clearly, made me laugh and it made me curious! excellent work :)
Really fun and simple concept! I didn't understand why I couldn't change costumes, nor how the theme directly relates.. But the movement, music and art really tie together an enjoyable atmosphere, and I loved drawing notes as you go to piece together who the reaper is! Really well done for the game jam!
