BEST GAME YET! So much so that I actually aimed to get a highscore. None of these weaklings in the comment section got past 100 and I got to 122, I could have easily gotten to 200 if you have added a pause feature when I tried to press escape, instead getting flashbanged with the rest of the itch page by going out of fullscreen, and in that split second I lost. Literally unplayable. In all seriousness though, you really nailed the gameplay, I honestly thought the game would break once the words reached the end of the page but it just kept going. Incredibly unique, clean, and fun experience, with all the elements of good gameplay. ABSOLUTE FANTASTIC WORK! :)

ABSOLUTE GAMING 🤚😏🤚

This is quite a fun game! The mechanics are polished and done well, to the point where I didn’t need to read the instructions to know how to play (which is why you should remove the intimidating block of text at the start), which is a hallmark of great gameplay! Great work! :)

Oh wow this is an awesome concept, having to balance feeding and picking, it’s all about these micro decisions which makes for good gameplay and you nailed it! Especially in such a short time. Incredible work!

Cute little game and concept, however sometimes unreadable. It was unclear what was interactable and what wasn’t due to the art, but the art doesn’t need to be changed to make things clear, instead a selection outline feature would elevate this game significantly. Other than that, great work! :)

Was it absolutely dialogue?

Ok this is just so underrated. Best usage of time mechanics I have seen yet and it’s so simple yet effective. This was obviously not a game plagued with scope creep, you chose a very simple gameplay loop, and you added time travel to it and It just works so well. I have no suggestions, nothing to add. This is the perfect game jam game.

Absolute Game-Dev 🤚😏🤚

There was a nice dreary vibe in your mind and you nailed conveying it. Just some points, a shader to see through walls between the camera and rat would be very nice, and you should spend more time easing things in for the player, such as only making the required ingredients available at first rather than all of them. Anyways, you did a great job! :)

Ah that’s on me, I’ll play again!

Did not expect to see a visual novel in this game jam but here we are. Quite a unique concept however I don’t think the timed choices were really adding to the gameplay, especially when you don’t have enough time to get invested into characters enough to create stakes with interactions. Either way, great job on creating four whole endings within 72 hours! :)

Very funny and cool concept + limitation. Gordaeon Timesey was very nitpicky, but that makes for realistic gameplay I suppose. I think it was quite hard to understand what was going on at first, but it was quite satisfying once I figured it out. Great work. Gordaeon Timesey would be proud. :)

Wonderful effort. The gameplay was very fun to play around with, especially the physics stuff (though the fridge door just wouldn’t open without me having to force myself between the fridge’s door, also the beeping was very obnoxious, I get that it’s nice attention to detail, but fridges start beeping a while after the door is first opened). I also think the pixely artstyle made it quite difficult to read the microwave labels at first. That out of the way, you guys have made quite a nice product! Incredible work! :)

Very cute game, however the art style does get in the way of the gameplay at times, where it’s hard to distinguish between ice-cream or a sauce (is it called a sauce? Icing maybe?). Also the customers didn’t go away for me upon completing an order :/. All in all, very cute game. Great work! :)

Very well done! The game is beautifully drawn and animated and sound is tasteful. Others have mentioned that limitation isn’t really relevant to the gameplay all too much compared to the level layouts themselves. Finally, I am incredibly impressed with the amount of content you managed to fit in that short time! I assume you had previous assets, or are just very skilled with Aseprite. All in all, very well done! This is a very nice polished product! :)

Easily the best game I have played yet. Everything is nicely polished and there’s a very large amount of gameplay! Bets on this one winning the jam (I wager 5 weiners). As for suggestions… I’d like a way to put stuff away that I brought out accidentally, like just dragging back to the bottom, and an indicator to show how close you are to beating a level. Incredible work, amazing job! :)

Decent game for what I assume to be made in a shorter time frame as per the description. Everyone starts somewhere for their first jam you started quite well, way better than my first jam game, that’s for sure. Well done! Also I’m confused as to why you need to teleport between the food and serving side, there was no point to that in the gameplay, at least as far as I got. Good job! :)

The atmosphere was done very well! The gameplay is easy to understand, though it wasn’t immediately clear that you could only carry three ingredients, I thought I encountered a bug at first (writing instructions and things like that in the description is a bit of a cop out, at least put it as text in the main menu; this is a game jam after all, not a description jam). I also think the sound, and particularly the music didn’t match the atmosphere very well, but I understand that not everyone has the skills or time (oooh time is the enemy, roll credits, absolute cinema) to make music or sounds themselves - though you can at least use SFXR to make 8bit sound effects incredibly easily. Ultimately, you came out with quite a polished product with a decently unique concept, and the use of the limitation is done very well, having enemies take away your available time was a great idea, why didn’t I think of that! Very well done, I can see this winning the jam! :)

This was quite a good game and what’d I’d expect from a larger team such as this, I can tell much effort was put into all respective aspects of the game (major props to the music shifting between a calmer and more urgent track when sunrise was nearby). A nice concept, and it played very nicely with no issues. Very well done!

I’m confused whether the timer and sunrise are directly linked, if not, then the timer seems a bit redundant when the idea of escaping a sunrise definitely counts as a time limitation.

Great work! :)

Buggy, low fidelity, unfinished. I’m sure those were the replies and ratings you were expecting but, it’s ok. It’s your first game jam after all. Major props for posting your first game jam game, as opposed to being discouraged and shelving it. Great work :)!

It wasn’t very clear what the gameplay was and I got stuck in the beginning. However, this is incredible work for a game made in three hours! Great job :)!

(1 edit)

I spent quite a while on the ending cutscene, almost the whole jam even. Glad I was able to touch someone emotionally with it. Also congratz on beating it, I’ve heard it was quite hard for many.

Really? What stood out? I don’t think my art was particularly special compared to other projects. Thank you so much!

I wish I could’ve had more time to fix bugs and polish it up but I only have so much time in 72 hours. I’m not a big fan of the whole idea myself but it’s the best I could think of within the short time frame.

I just store the position of every moving entity 60 times per seoncd, and just playback that buffer. Not very elegant but it works suprisingly perfomantly.

I know you weren’t attacking, just you could have put that a bit nicer. I do agree that AI corporations are using copyrighted works which is really annoying. Ai shouldn’t go beyond a helping tool rather than just straight doing things for us IMO.

You both are correct to a certain extent but one thing’s for sure, you can put this a lot politer, we are all civilised humans here.

Sure AI indirectly takes away from artists, and sure people believe that art is a waste of time. These are both true to a certain extent and it isn’t black and white. Although many people (me included) don’t agree with the way some use AI, it doesn’t mean we should attack the people who do. They aren’t being malicious to us in any way directly. He’s not trying to sell anything or cause harm, the developer just wanted to make a game and partake in a game jam and prefers to work on the game design aspect as opposed to programming or art. So what? I don’t agree and I wouldn’t follow long pathway of life the same way as he does, but it doesn’t mean that everyone else’s way is inherently wrong.

Fair enough.

Mad props to the sleepless works. I also hope that someday I’ll have enough tooling and reusable stuff of my own to be able to make such a well polished product!

Don’t worry too much about the limitation, unless you really care about ratings, what’s more important is making a game you are proud of, and one that you enjoy.

I decided against 100% going back in time due to time constraints, after further thought, there was no real gameplay purpose either imo. Thanks for the feedback!

What an experience! This was very unique and I loved the voice acting! A point of improvement would be to make it more clear how much time remains, I didn’t know at what point the giant would reach the player. Incredible work :)!

ABSOLUTE CINEMA 🤚😏🤚

Decent game! Cute graphics, and quite user friendly (inputs are made very clear making it easy for the user to learn and play). My only issue with it is the cooking mechanics being somewhat buggy/obscure. Great work :)!

MY MISSION WAS SUCCEGGSFUL! I spent quite a while on it without giving up due to crappy game mechanics. Goes to show how fun these these simple games can be compared to overly complex ones. Good job, it was a very fun game :)!

(Also you can edit your submissions so add your teammate’s names)

I’m surprised that ten whole people managed to work on this. The premise is cool and unique, however it is hard to tell what is going on, there isn’t much user feedback. Good work :)

Congrats on your little brother’s first game jam. This game is very easy to get the hang of! Great work :).

At least this one is upfront about using AI…

That aside, obviously plenty of time was spent on visuals and polish and I have to admit that it looks… conventionally good, however there’s no charm to the art style. I must say that making the game with straight js was a unique move and well, I suppose css is very convenient. Now the gameplay, the gameplay is simple and easy to understand. Good work.

P.S. I mean no malice in this, but why participate in a game jame only to vibecode everything?

Bugs: Inventory doesn’t reset between runs. Timer keeps going after finish.

That aside, I LOVE this game! This is incredibly polished to the point of me being skeptical whether you started this project before the game jam even started. The presentation is immaculate. The gameplay is unique and diverse, to the point of there being meaningful strategy (combined with a leaderboard to add the competitive aspect to motivate players). The only downside I’ve noticed is that the limitation isn’t used correctly (makes it all the more sus that you started this project before even knowing the limitation :P), at least that’s how I interpret it. Time isn’t an enemy here, rather the driver of progression.

Incredible work nonetheless :)!

Certainly a very short game. The concept seems fun, and I think it could work great as a minigame in overcooked (actually I think it already is a thing in overcooked). I don’t see how time is particularly a limitation. Still a fun game despite the length. Good work :)

Very cute and fun game! The use of minigames is quite well and can easily become a complete game with some more minigames (+ cosmetics of course). However, the dumpling game is cursed/bugged, ended literally all me runs. Good work :)

Wow this is such an awesome concept! Papers Please + Cooking! Presentation is awesome, not sure what the lore implications of cutting off your fingers are… The gameplay was truly well done. The one issue is player feedback. You don’t exactly make it clear that to add ingredients to a recipe you need to press accept, then press on an order, but once I got the hang of that, the game was actually really fun! One thing you can do to mitigate this is to add more player feedback, such as outlines to show where to click next. Overall, incredible work!

Wow this is very well done! The presentation is very nicely done and there’s plenty of polish. There isn’t any silly UI bugs either, which plagues many Unity game-jam games. Everything is just very good.

The only places that could see some improvement would be the gameplay… Firstly, the premise itself is very nicely done, so much so that I didn’t need to read the instructions to understand the game so I commend that. However, as with any overcooked-style game, this game is lacking a secondary movement mechanic, such as sprinting or dashing. Moreover, the game is quite slow paced initially. It makes sense that the end game is slower due to age, but a twenty year old should be able to move much faster than that.

Great job :)
